Hi! We are Elena and George. We are both from the UK and we are a couple who have been together for 8 years. We are both very friendly and active people who enjoy being outdoors and learning more about nature. We love travelling and are interested in seeing more of the world. We recently finished cycling from Albania to France (2500km over six weeks) and enjoyed seeing the culture and language change. This trip is our first time in Latin America and we love the food, hearing the accents change between countries, and learning more about local culture. We are both learning Spanish.

Elena:

I am from Cardiff in Wales. Wales is known for having lots of castles and sheep, and for singing. I love to sing, especially in choirs. I am a member of a Welsh language choir in Cardiff, where there is a strong sense of community. We have performed at schools and at charity events. I work for the University of Bristol, England, and I have a lot of experience with counselling young people. I have volunteered with a charity called IntoUniversity in the past, which encourages and supports young people to apply to universities. I have travelled a lot with my current job, and have been to many places in Europe, as well as the USA, China, Egypt, Singapore, and Turkey.

George:

I am from a small village in Devon, England, where there is a strong sense of community pride especially about the local school and the rewilding group. I have volunteered with a community focussed and citizen science project called "The Rock Pool Project" in my local area where we take families and groups on rock pool safaris, teaching them about our marine wildlife. I have worked with kids as a music and piano teacher both in schools and in private homes - which I really enjoyed and would love to continue to do more of. I have also given talks and ran classes about wildlife in my local primary school. I was a researcher at a university for several months and am a listed author of a published peer reviewed article. I love working with people, especially families and smaller communities.

We are both capable with technology and are hardworking. We would like to get to know areas and people by using Workaway.

We both have an interest in languages and have previous experience of teaching. We are both able to teach English, and Elena can teach Welsh as well. Our Spanish has improved a lot over the last 6 months and we can now handle ourselves in most situations, but we are always looking to practice more!

Quais são suas habilidades?

We are both very friendly and sociable people and enjoy interacting with people. We both have experience of working in restaurants and bars. We are also both very fit and active, therefore we are capable of completing tasks that involve physical labour. We have both worked with children in the past - George as a music teacher and Elena as a both a language teacher abroad and a counsellor to young people wanting to go to university. George has an enthusiasm for growing food and gardening, and has some basic knowledge about permaculture and food growing methods.

We are both very musical - George loves playing piano and Elena loves to sing. We like playing cards together. We love food and enjoy trying different cuisines. We are both very active and enjoy running, cycling, hiking, birdwatching, and being out in nature.
