… read more meinen Garten winterfest vorbereitet, ich bin wunschlos glücklich. Wir nutzten das schöne sonnige Herbstwetter für viele Ausflüge zu meinen Lieblingsplätzen in und um Bamberg und dabei haben wir unsere Sprachkenntnisse mit einem herrlichen Mix aus Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch aufgebessert. Im Garten half uns manchmal einfach der botanische Name der Pflanzen weiter :)
Ich habe die Zeit mit Anne sehr genossen, ich freue mich immer, wenn ich anderen Menschen meine schöne Heimat, die Kultur und die Natur hier zeigen darf. Es gehört auch dazu, die regionalen kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten zu probieren, ich hoffe, dass mir das ganz gut gelungen ist.
Für mich waren diese 2 Wochen mit Anne wie eine Auszeit in meiner eigenen Gegend, in der sonst andere Urlaub machen, und ich habe Lust bekommen, auch mit Workaway umherzureisen…
Liebe Anne, ich wünsche dir viele neue und schöne Erlebnisse, sammle weiter „Momente“, ich hoffe, auch bald damit zu beginnen!

This fall I had the great pleasure of meeting Anne. I would like to thank you very much. We quickly found a lot of common ground for good and thoughtful conversations, the same year of birth and very similar life experiences made it pretty easy for us. Anne is an excellent gardener and also a very good teacher! She prepared my garden for winter and I'm absolutely happy. We took advantage of the beautiful, sunny autumn weather for many trips to my favorite places in and around Bamberg and improved our language skills with a wonderful mix of German, English and French. In the garden, sometimes just the botanical name of the plants helped us :)
I really enjoyed my time with Anne, I'm always happy when I can show other people my beautiful home, the culture and the nature here. It is also part of it to try the regional culinary delicacies, I hope that I succeeded quite well.
For me, these 2 weeks with Anne were like a break in my own area, where others usually go on holiday, and it made me want to travel around with Workaway too...

Before my arrival Angela was very forthcoming with her messages and throughout my time staying in her beautiful home, the ease and warmth of the communication continued. I mainly did gardening jobs which I loved. Her garden is beautiful and lovingly tended. I also did a few light house chores such as hoovering, watering plants and making a bed.
… read more Throughout my stay, I stayed in Bamberg for two weeks, Angela took me out several times to lovely typical restaurants. Together, we also visited nearby towns, areas of outstanding beauty and museums. I met her lovely children and she helped me with my German. Angela was attentive and thoughtful. Her house is beautiful, very clean and comfortable and my bedroom was lovely, light and airy, there was a desk and chair and it felt cosy. I was able to give online tuition whilst I was there. Angela is a warm, welcoming and generous person and I felt very at home, she was patient with my German, helping me to understand things and we both learned new words and phrases. We did some work in the (amazing) garden, lots in the kitchen, including plenty vegan

Natalie was my guest for a wonderful week. We had a lovely time, I really needed the help in the house and garden. Natalie took over the gardening work I needed to do before winter, together we stocked the storage cellar for the winter and prepared delicious delicacies in the kitchen.

During our walks in Bamberg and Franconian Switzerland we observed and discovered many beautiful little things in nature.

I was extremely pleased to have Cigo, an extremely nice, cordial and helpful young man, as a guest in my house. He is very grateful and always open to new experiences and interested in learning new things.
With his help I have completed all projects that I can‘t manage on my own. We cut endless meters of hedges, Cigo patiently shoveled compost,
… read more cut perennials and mowed lawns... and much more! My garden could now take part in a gardening competition.
I really enjoyed showing him my city and the Franconian surroundings and having a snack on the way... called "Brotzeit" here in Frankonia :)
Thank you Cigo, for the nice and uncomplicated time and also for the masterful drawing that you gave me as a surprise! Ida and I laughed so much. You drew the 2 weeks together so perfectly on the sheet, you didn't even forget the kimchi. The drawing will hang on the wall and I will always smile when I walk past it!
Es hat mich außerordentlich gefreut, mit Cigo einen überaus netten, herzlichen und hilfsbereiten junger Mann als Gast in meinem Haus zu beherbergen. Er ist sehr bescheiden und dankbar und neuen Erfahrungen gegenüber immer offen und interessiert etwas Neues kennenzulernen.
Mit seiner Hilfe habe ich alle Vorhaben, die ich alleine nicht schaffe, erledigt. Wir haben unenendliche Meter Hecken geschnitten, Cigo hat geduldig Kompost umgeschaufelt, Stauden geschnitten und Rasen gemäht... und noch viel mehr! Mein Garten könnte jetzt an einem Gartenwettbewerb teilnehmen.
Mir hat es viel Freude gemacht, ihm meine Stadt und die fränkische Umgebung zu zeigen und unterwegs mal "Brotzeit" zu machen.
Danke Cigo, für die schöne und unkomplizierte Zeit und auch für die meisterhafte Zeichnung, die du mir als Überraschung hingelegt hast! Ida und ich haben so gelacht. Du hast die 2 Wochen so perfekt zusammengefasst und auf das Blatt gemalt, sogar das Kimchi hast du nicht vergessen. Die Zeichnung wird an der Wand hängen und ich werde immer schmunzeln, wenn ich daran vorbeilaufe!

… read more house and its garden are incredible and almost located in the centre. The room was also pretty good with the view. Her daughter, Ida, was very helpful to me whenever I need it. If you are planning to go to other near cities, it is so easy from Bamberg. She showed me countryside and local dishes as well which I enjoyed a lot. I learned many things about Franconia. I am grateful for everything what she did for me. I think you are more than welcome in her house if you have a creative and independent personality. Lutz war der erste Gast, den ich über Workaway bei mir willkommen heißen durfte. Diese für mich neue Erfahrung hat all meine Erwartungen an Workaway übertroffen.

… read more Aufgaben. Gerade wenn ich von den Herausforderungen des Lebens den Kopf voller eigener Gedanken hatte, nahm er mir Grundlegendes in Haus und Garten ab und verwöhnte mich mit leckerem Essen.
So viel Hilfsbereitschaft und Zuverlässigkeit zu geben, ist keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Es war ein schönes Miteinander, wir arbeiteten Hand in Hand.
Im Gegenzug versuchte ich ihm viele schöne Plätze zu zeigen und unsere Kultur in Franken zu vermitteln. Wir probierten viele regionale kulinarische Spezialitäten, darunter auch das berühmte Bamberger Bier. Auf diese Art erlebte auch ich ein Stück weit meine eigene Heimat neu - ähnlich wie ein Tourist zuhause. Die Herzlichkeit und Fröhlichkeit von Lutz machten unsere Ausflüge für mich zu „kleinen Urlauben vom Alltag“.
Lieber Lutz, dafür danke ich dir von Herzen! Für die schönen Momente, für die ich mir ohne deine Anwesendheit keine Zeit genommen hätte. Und auch für die tiefgehenden Gespräche und Denkanstöße und für die Ermunterungen, Neues auszuprobieren.
Meine Tochter Ida und ich, wir wünschen dir für deine weiteren Reisen an interessante Orte noch sehr viele dieser schönen Begegnungen auf der Basis eines wertschätzenden Austausches und Miteinanders.
Lutz was the first guest I was able to welcome via Workaway. This new experience for me exceeded all my expectations of Workaway.
You can fully rely on Lutz in every situation. He has the great ability to think rationally and logically. As a result, he independently recognizes upcoming and important tasks. Just when I had my head full of my own thoughts about the challenges of life, he took over the daily routines in the house and garden and furthermore spoiled me with delicious food.
Giving so much helpfulness and reliability is not a matter of course. It was a nice togetherness, we worked hand in hand.
In return, I tried to show him many beautiful places and to convey our culture in Franconia. We tasted many regional culinary specialties, including the famous Bamberg beer. In this way, I also experienced my own homeland anew - similar to a tourist at home.
The warmth and cheerfulness of Lutz made our excursions to be like "small holidays from everyday life" to me.
Dear Lutz, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! For the beautiful moments for which I would not have taken time without your presence. And also for the in-depth conversations and food for thought and for the encouragement to try out new things.

You are accommodated in their well-kept, beautiful and lovingly furnished house, surrounded by a beautiful garden, whose sea of flowers takes your breath away. I loved my room and the large and bright bathroom I shared with Ida, Angela's daughter and other guests.
I had one of my best times here and will always keep Angela and family and cat Krulli in loving memory.

Wenn man mich fragt , warum ich Workaway schätze, ist meine Antwort klar: Weil mir Menschen wie Angela begegnen!
Ich fühlte mich bei ihr zu jeder Zeit zuhause, hatte eine Menge Spaß bei unseren gemeinsamen Projekten in Haus und Garten und beim Kennenlernen der wunderschönen fränkischen Kultur und Natur. Kein Wunder also, dass aus einem urprünglich für 2 Wochen geplantem Aufenthalt, letztendlich 10 Wochen wurden, in denen ich viel bewegen konnte und volle Wertschätzung erfuhr.
Untergebracht seid ihr in ihrem gepflegtem, schönen und liebevoll eingerichtetem Haus, umgeben von einem herrlichen Garten, dessen Blütenmeer euch den Atem raubt. Ich liebte mein Zimmer und das große und helle Bad, dass ich mit Ida, Angela's Tochter und anderen Gästen teilte.
Ich hatte hier eine meiner besten Zeiten und werde Angela und Familie und Kater Krulli immer in liebevoller Erinnerung behalten.
