We are a family of four living in Nara. We are a couple in our 30s, with a 3-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. Our motivation for joining Workaway is to travel around the world starting in the spring of 2025. I will tell you why we decided to take such small children on a trip around the world.
My husband works as a nurse and I am an employee of a general company. We left our children at a nursery school and were busy with work every day, and we were worried that we didn't have much time to spend with our children.
We realized that the time we can spend with our children in our lives is too short, and wanted to spend more time with them, so we quit our jobs and decided to go on a trip around the world.
My husband went backpacking in his student days and traveled around Southeast Asia. I went to Cebu Island to study English, and volunteered as a Japanese teacher in Canada. We both love traveling and have been to many places in Japan. To be honest, neither of us is good at English, but we want to interact with people from various countries and share various values. We also want to show our children a wider world. They are both still young, so I don't know if they will remember this journey when they grow up, but I want them to experience a different atmosphere than in Japan, various people, and spectacular scenery that they cannot see in Japan.
My husband works as a nurse, but he is good at DIY and farm work. He even built a shed in the garden with his father. I am good at cleaning and tidying up. I think I can contribute by cooking Japanese food. Our children love to play outside, and my son especially loves animals. Although children are not a labor force, my husband and I are hard workers.
I hope to find a host who will accept family with young children like us. If possible, I would like to find a host who has children. (It would be great if our children are close in age!)
