Hi! We are Chiara(37) and Kyle(39), originally from Rome and Seattle, but currently based in Sicily. Chiara is a textile designer and Kyle is a chef. We both work within our careers in ways that focus on sustainability and being good to the environment in every way that we can. Although we now live in the city, but are both drawn to the outdoors and connecting more to nature.
Workaway was something that appealed to us both in how it could teach and expand what we know about travel, people, culture, and working within nature in new and interesting ways. Our dream for the future is to create a project that includes working the land that gives back more than what we take from it, bringing together people and ideas. Workaway seems like the perfect way of learning and being inspired by others, whilst helping along the way.
We are both passionate, dedicated and hard working in what we do, and always ready to jump in and help out wherever possible. We are not afraid of getting our hands dirty, as we know that from hard work comes great satisfaction. As workawayers, we would be so excited to come learn from you and be a positive influence during the time of our stay.

Ciao, siamo Chiara e Kyle, una coppia con origini un po' miste (Inghilterra, America ed Italia) ma al momento viviamo in Sicilia. Chiara è un'artista e textile designer e Kyle uno chef. Entrambi cerchiamo di incorporare aspetti fondamentali quali la sostenibilità ed il rispetto dell'ambente all'interno delle nostre carriere. Anche se al momento viviamo in città ma sogniamo la campagna. Infatti ci sentiamo piu' a nostro agio immersi nella natura anziche' circondati dal cemento! La nostra intenzione per il futuro e' quella di iniziare un nostro progetto, creando un posto immerso nel verde, dove la gente possa dedicarsi in quello che ama fare veramente. Per questo motivo Workaway ci sembra un ottima maniera di imparare ed approfondire quel che gia sappiamo, imparando da chi gia' lo sta facendo, ed allo stesso dando qualcosa in cambio.
Non abbiamo paura di sporcarci le mani dato che sappiamo che dal duro lavoro si ricevono grandi soddisfazioni. Come Workawayers saremmo davvero contenti di venire ed imparare da voi ed al contempo essere un'influenza positiva durante la nostra permanenza.

Quais são suas habilidades?

As a textile designer, Chiara is skilled in painting and drawing both manually and digitally, as well as sewing and stitching fabric. She is a problem solver and able to find solutions to in ways that many wouldn’t recognise.

As a chef, Kyle is able to cook and create healthy meals out of any ingredients and in whatever situation he finds himself in. He is also skilled in gardening and basic farm work, from planting, preparing soil, tending to the plants, and harvesting.

Our world has really gone crazy! Sustainability and self sufficiency are the way to go. Being kind to our planet and going back to old traditions and methods are one of the best ways that we can care for the environment and ourselves as well. Since moving to Sicily over three years ago we have learned a lot on these topics, just by observing different ways of living. We are eager to keep learning.
