Hi! I’m Cristina, a 31-year-old from Barcelona, Spain, and I’m someone who genuinely enjoys learning from people, getting involved in meaningful projects and sharing what I know along the way.

My professional background is in Communication and Cultural Industries. I have worked for around 10 years in communication agencies, managing projects related to internal communication, education, diversity, sustainability, wellbeing and social impact. I also have a Master’s degree in Creativity and Advertising Strategy and training in adult education, coaching, digital marketing and AI.

Over the last few years, I’ve realised that I want to move closer to people and social impact, rather than spending all my time behind a desk. That’s why I’ve started combining my professional experience with volunteering and educational projects.

I have experience working with children, teenagers, adults and vulnerable communities. I volunteered in Greece with children and adults with disabilities and children at risk, where I organised creative and sustainability activities, including art workshops, recycling activities and environmental projects. I have also mentored a vulnerable teenager in Barcelona for a school year and taught Spanish to adult migrants.

More recently, I joined an international volunteering programme with Humana People to People, where I received training in Denmark and worked with smallholder farmers in Zambia on sustainable agriculture, food security, nutrition, hygiene, conservation and financial literacy.

I also have experience teaching and facilitating workshops. I’ve taught LinkedIn, Canva and digital skills, and I have delivered workshops on AI for professionals working in social and healthcare organisations. I’m comfortable preparing activities, explaining things clearly, speaking in front of groups and adapting to different levels and ages.

Creativity is another big part of who I am. I love drawing, painting, crafts and coming up with activities that allow people to express themselves. I’m especially interested in projects combining education, art, nature, sustainability and community.

I’m also happy to help with communication, social media, photography/video, website content, digital tools, English or Spanish, and general project organisation. I particularly enjoy projects where I can contribute with several of these skills rather than doing exactly the same task every day.

I’m curious, responsible, adaptable and quite proactive. I don’t expect everything to be perfectly organised for me — I like understanding what a project needs and finding ways to be useful. At the same time, I really value living with and learning from local people and other volunteers.

I’m currently looking for meaningful experiences where I can contribute, learn and become part of a community, especially projects related to children and education, vulnerable groups, sustainability, nature, art or community development.

I’m not looking simply for a cheap way to travel. For me, the best Workaway experience is one where I can genuinely contribute something, connect with people and leave knowing that I’ve been useful. 🌱
