    Descrição

    Hi there,

We are Lehcen and Hassan. We grew up in a little traditional village 11 km from tagounite. We lived with our family here. Unfortunatly our family moved to tagounite because of the waterproblem. But we love it here so much, we came back 6 years ago to live here. We are looking for people who want to help us build the house. We live in a traditional house (Kasbah), it has a shared dorm, living room, kitchen, toilet and a garden.

Now we need help with making bricks, carry stones, building a new kitchen, fixing walls, carry sand for the bricks, carrying water, help with cleaning dishes toilet and the house, give water to the plants and animals, picking dades one time in the year.

We need also help with making trenches around the palmtrees. This helps the palmtrees when it rains.
There is a huge drought and waterprobleem here.
Please use as little water as possible.
Useful work here is digging trenches around in the lands around us. It helps them contain water.

Before, during and after Ramadan (from 22 march till 5 April) it's hard to get a seat on the bus, so book in advance online or buy ticket in advanced at the ctm or supratours bus station.

We have some animals like chickens, dogs, a cat and goats.

We work max 2 hours a day, with a maxinum of 15 per week. We usually start after breakfast, after that you are free and when the weather is not hot .at the same time there will be planty of work in case any one would like to work more.
You have a lot of free time every day to read or relaxe and is good to bring things (books, games, walking shoes, knit utensils 😊) to entertain yourself with.

----please notice and is important to know in advance :-----

We meet the volunteers when they arrive to tagounite and we can help arrange a transport from tagounite to our place: the cost is 10€ /100 dirhams, this is a tarif for a tuk tuk transport in one way and is the same for 1 or 4 persons maximum, it will be shared and this will be paid by the volunteer that want it .

    -----Important:-----
We ask each volunteer for a small fee of 70 dirhams / €7 per day to cover the cost of the food from volunteers wich only use for the meals. We cook three meals a day and we will be happy to teach you how to cook. We are happy to take a volunteer to help us buying groceries.

If you prefer not to pay this daily fee towards food, there is always the possibility to buy your own food and cook it in our kitchen, if you prefer that.

    -----Also good to know :------

Bring clothes that can get dirty, flip flops, washing powder to wash your cloths (you can buy it in Tagounite), a hat against the sun in the summer (march till november), warm clothes (warm winter jacket, warm fleece sweaters, warm trousers) in the winter months, sunscreen, anti mosquito spray
We have blankets, pillows and matrasses.

We have another friend who is staying with us, he helps with everything also the work and cooking, so you will also be working with him.

It's fine for us if you take initiative. If you are bored or looking for things to do you can always dig trenches around palmtrees, not just on our land but also on lands around us that are not being used. And you can look for old dead palm leaves laying on the ground, we use them to make fire. Be careful of any insects! and when you go far always tell us.
Be aware of stray dogs when you do these things and always bring a very strong big stick with you, preferably go with a few people and don't wonder off to far from the road especially when it's not nearby the kasbah.

There are wild dogs everywhere in Morocco. Some of them are dangerous. We advice not to go for a walk alone and if you do, stay on the path and bring a strong stick with you. We advise everybody to go walking with others.

You can get here with ctm or supratours buses from any big city.
From Marrakech daily a CTM bus departes at 11.15 and arrives at 20.30 in Tagounite.
We will meet you at the bus station or taxi station in Tagounite.

    House rules:
No smoking near or in the bedrooms.
No toiletpapier in the toilet, put it in the basket.
No loud talking or music near the bedrooms.
Be considerate about people who sleep earlier then you.
It's not allowed to make a photo or film other people who stay in or visit the kasbah without their permission.
Use clean shoes when entering the toilet so the floor stays clean. This way the toilet doesn't have to be cleaned every day which saves a lot of water.
Take your private belongings like food , towels and toiletries back to your room, don't let it linger in the kitchen, living room and toilet.
Use as little electricity as possible, close your phones when you don't use them (for example when walking, working, sleeping) and remove chargers from suckets when not charging.
