How's it going!

It’s Andy

I have recently returned to Scotland having just spend 3 years exploring Canada and 4 months in South America. In that time I had been busy tree planting, snowmaking, farming organic veg, teaching snowboarding + skiing, regenerative ranch handing as well as plenty of time in nature; hiking, camping, canoeing, climbing, surfing, skiing, foraging and being.

Now I’m looking to explore and connect back home, meet new folk, keep learning skills and forge the next part of my journey.

I spend a lot of time considering how humans are interacting with the ecosystems we're part of and how we can integrate in mutually beneficial ways. I’m always interested to experience new ways of doing this and hear folks approaches and philosophies.

Being able to spend time in nature is very important to me.

I am adventurous, love being outside, using my hands, learning new skills and exploring alternative approaches.

Areas I am particularly looking to develop our knowledge in include:-

• Sustainable food production and harvesting.
•Sustainable forestry/Agroforestry.
• Homesteading/ Off-grid living - preparing firewood, preserving food, sustainable energy and other skills relating to self-sufficiency.
• Authentic local cuisine and cooking.
• Wild harvesting food and natural resources.
• Building and crafting with natural materials.
• Bushcraft
• Natural dying
•And sailing, I would love to learn to sail!

I am looking to immerse myself in authentic, cultural experiences, meet new people and discover new things. A good conversation and hearing new philosophies and ideas, particularly around food, nature and our connection with then. Always looking to learn, I believe there is a learning opportunity in everything and everyone has something to teach. I am more than willing to sharemy skills and experiences.

• Organic veg growing/harvesting experience
• Some livestock handling (sheep, goats, chickens, cows, pigs, ducks)
• Basic horse care and riding skills
• Basic woodwork carpentry skills
• Tree planting
• Basic handyman and carpentry skills

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have spent several years now as a land worker in varying capacities, usually producing food or planting trees and even time as a weather wizard making snow. This has allowed me to acquire a range of skills in varying capacities, some of which are listed below:-

From the Farm:-
• Sowing into trays.
• Direct sowing using a jang seeder.
• Transplanting plugs into beds.
• Produce harvesting - roots, shoots, salads, legumes, herbs, flowers..
• Greenhouse pruning for Tomatoes and Cucumbers.
• Bed prepping and turn around.
• Produce prep and package for consumer use.
• Application and understanding of no-dig techniques and principles.
• Hedgerow planting and benefits to ecosystem
• Mob grazing techniques to regenerate pasture.
• Basic sheep shearing and handling.
• Basic chicken care and handling.
• Use of quad bike and polaris.
• Basic butchery and sausage making.
• Use of a mechanical log splitter.
•Using a tractor and a front loader.
•Fencing repairs.

• Cooking for groups and some basic chef experience.
