The first thing that comes to mind, when I think about what brings me happiness, is music and dance. I listen to many genres of music and I believe there's nothing that makes me feel more alive and happy than when I dance. On the other hand I'm also a medical student, and another thing that brings me so much happiness is helping others and giving them a bit of comfort or just a smile on some tough day. Last but not least, my friends and family. I love very deeply all the people that surround me and whenever I think about them I feel so proud and grateful for life.
This will always motivate me and give me life and strength at any point in my life!

Quais são suas habilidades?
I'm a fourth year medical student. I study in Italy, in Milan but my university is international so we study everything in English and I speak the language fluently.
I'm a person that can adapt very well to many situations and I tend to always try and bring harmony and solve any type of conflict in the environment I find myself into.
I'm always very open to learning new things, meeting new people and getting to know new cultures.
As I anticipated, I love dancing (even if i'm no professional dancer, I just do it for fun) and I've been dancing for more or less 10 years now. I also love singing, painting, cooking... I love nature and animals and I really enjoy spending time with children of any age.

Where to begin… Before arriving, I had only read the description and reviews — but none of them come close to explaining just how special the school truly is.
When I landed in Entebbe, Esi and Jan picked me up and immediately made me feel welcome. We waited for another volunteer to arrive, and already I felt relaxed and at home. Arriving at the… read more school was magical: all the children ran up to greet us with hugs and smiles. Since it was a Saturday — a community day — I had the chance to meet not only the students who attend daily but also their siblings and friends. On these days, volunteers simply play and spend time with the children before they head back home.
During the week, the routine is more structured. There are three classes: the Hippos (the youngest), the Elephants, and the Monkeys (the more advanced). The day starts at 8 a.m. with an assembly full of children’s songs and choreographies — such a joyful way to begin. After a short assessment, everyone goes to their classrooms.
* English class runs for about 1.5–2 hours.
* Then there’s a one-hour breakfast break where all the kids eat together.
* Math class follows until around 1 p.m.
Afterwards, everyone has lunch together, cooked by the amazing mamas who arrive in the morning with the children and care for both the meals and the home throughout the day.
In the afternoon, activities begin: drawing, chess, Guess Who, dancing — sometimes organized by volunteers, sometimes chosen by the children themselves. For me, the highlight was putting on music and dancing with the kids, having the best time until it was time for them to go home.
Around 2:30/3 p.m., the kids brush their teeth in groups (each called by the bell), and then at the end of the day, there’s another assembly with songs before everyone leaves.
A few children stay and sleep at the school, rotating every few weeks. While I was there, I lived with four wonderful boys who made my stay unforgettable — taking us on walks around the neighborhood, to the lake, to see monkeys, or just for a snack nearby. In the evenings, we’d return to find dinner nearly ready, thanks to Majo, an incredible woman who not only teaches the Hippos but also helps volunteers in every possible way, always with her gentle voice and warm smile.
This is just the structure of the days — but the feeling of being there is something else entirely. There is such peace, joy, and mutual support. The children are smart, creative, and so full of love that it’s impossible to put into words.
For me, the school truly became a home. It taught me so much and filled my heart with a love so big it feels three times larger. 💛
