I had a really meaningful experience staying with Julio. He was incredibly kind and flexible in welcoming me, even though I let him know in advance that I wouldn’t be able to stay for long, which I truly appreciated. From the moment I arrived, I felt very comfortable. We shared great conversations, exchanged perspectives, and connected in a very genuine way. It was inspiring to meet someone with such a positive energy and an open mindset. I was also happy to be able to help with some plumbing tasks, which is something I have experience in. Being able to contribute in a practical way made the experience even more rewarding for me. Even though my stay was brief, the quality of the time we shared was truly special. Julio is a wonderful person, and I feel grateful to have met him. I definitely leave with a sense of connection and appreciation.

Loved having Sharon ( Shazzeee) stay with us. Very calm young lady. Dog's all loved her. She completed all chores asked of her in a timely, organised manner and cooked some amazing foods plus made beetroot relish! Shazzee definetly knows hard work and was another outstanding WAW. Hope to see her again. Really enjoyed her company, conversations and we were a bit sad to see her go.

Sacha was delightful and full of energy. She loved animals .i have made life long friend s & hope Sacha and her mom ,Patricia will come back Both were very respectful and so much help to me. They did everything that I asked and more. They both have initiative and do what needs to be done without my having to ask. I have so much organizing that needs to be done and they were a big help. I am looking forward to seeing both of them soon. I wish they could have stayed longer. they will always be welcome.

Saskia and Daniel are a very kind, warm, and positive couple. During their stay with us at the Mudhouse, they were very helpful, responsible, and always willing to learn and support our daily activities. They helped with different tasks and adapted well to our simple lifestyle in the village. They were respectful, easy to communicate with, and got along very well with our family. It truly felt like having friends staying with us. We really appreciate their time here and would be very happy to welcome them again in the future. Highly recommended to any host. Warm regards, Yohun

Dear Mustafa, Thank you so much for your kind message. It really means a lot to me and my family. We truly appreciate all the help you gave during your stay. You worked well, had a great attitude, and brought good energy to our place. We are very grateful for that. I also want to say sorry if my time away in town made you feel uncomfortable or less supported. During that period, I had some important things to take care of, but I understand it may have affected your experience here. You are always welcome back to stay with us again anytime in the future. It would be great to spend more time together and share a better experience. Thank you again for everything, and I wish you a safe and happy journey ahead. Warm regards, Yohun

If you are interested in working with horses and learning about them then this place is for you! We were very interested in this project and eventhough we lacked any prior experience with horses, we were accepted and taught all the fundamentals which really helped us to get comfortable with the job quickly. Our main tasks were cleaning the stables, grooming the horses sometimes and taking them trotting. This riding club is primarily owned and run by Jagadeesh (Jay) and Chandu, but most of our time there we actually spent with Jay and Emma, who is from Sri Lanka and is the one who mainly handles the volunteers. We stayed with them at their apartment which is a short ride to the stables. This volunteering project felt much like an overall cultural experience, as we got to do lots of things together! Trying delicious food, going to the movies, weddings, you name it! We also got some riding lessons, which was just amazing. When it comes to the work, we felt like our expectations mismatched a bit sometimes with Jay and Emma's, maybe due to the difference in our culture or just due to the fact that most of the work can be covered by the workers, so volunteers aren't necessarily needed. Personally we are used to expectations from both sides with set tasks and hours, but it was fun experiencing a different type of project where there was no pressure coming from the hosts. We learned a lot and enjoyed our time at the stables with everyone. This is a good place to come help out with or without prior experience if you want to be with horses and learn about the culture. Thank you so much for having us, and all the best!

Claire was a wonderful volunteer and yoga teacher during her time with us on Koh Mak. She was reliable, motivated, and completed her tasks without needing any reminders. She noticed what needed to be done and was never too shy to step in and help. She handled the guests very well and created a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our yoga shala. Claire also made the transition to the next yoga teacher smooth and easy, which was very helpful for us. She enjoyed her time here so much that she decided to stay longer than originally planned, and we were very happy to host her for the additional time. We are still in contact, and if she ever has the opportunity to return and teach in our yoga shala again, we would be very happy to welcome her back.

Emmie was a pleasure to host, diligent, timely, calm, hard working. The work wasn't exciting, mostly weeding and cleaning, (autmn clean inside and out), prepping fruit, but Emmie was always willing. Nice to have the house spruced up! I recommend Emmie and would welcome her back.

I had a great time here, the hosts Françoise and Dada were very welcoming and easy-going. They showed me and the other workawayer around and introduced us some of the residents. We had the opportunity to try out some of the activities at the village like yoga and Qigong. They also had us help out at the café and with other tasks both at the house and in the village. The area is beautiful and I particularly enjoyed the nature and wild-life all around the place. They have all sort of fruits, aromatic herbs and vegetables growing around, and we got to try home-made kombucha, teas and other foods. I would definitely recommend the place if you're looking to spend time in nature. It's a great place to go on walks, swim at the pond, and get some quiet time. ☀

I stayed with Roslyn and her two lovely dogs, Karma and Xavier, for about a week and a half. It was my first Workaway experience, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better one. Most of my tasks involved cleaning, including doing a deep clean of the house. I also occasionally took the dogs for walks—they were incredibly sweet and a joy to spend time with. From the very beginning, I felt completely comfortable with Roslyn. She is a genuinely kind and welcoming person who always made sure I had everything I needed. She also gave me lots of great tips for exploring Vancouver, which I really appreciated. On top of that, she is an amazing cook! I was spoiled with delicious homemade meals for two weeks, which I could simply reheat—such a luxury. Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience, and I honestly wish I could have stayed longer.

Staying in the tiny house has been such an expansive and healing experience for me! Soaking in the skies, the sea views, the mountain, the cats, the nature all around, the love put into the space. I spend 3 months there, covering the late winter - spring volunteer slot, and it has been 3 of the most beautiful months of my life! The tiny house is small - but it provides what a person who wants to live immersed in nature needs: a bed (there's a second one too), a little stove where you can warm yourself and cook (there is gas as well in the outdoor kitchen), a guitar and cats. Seriously, I was waking up on the top of the little mountain, with all the views, was greeted by the cats, feeding them, and then having 3-hour long morning coffee and breakfast in the silence of the mountain, looking at the sea views, 3 min walk from the tiny house, before I begin with my tasks and daily work. Such a Luxury! I too was very welcomed by the local town, half an hour walk down the hill, got to frequent Liz's art class once a week and even followed along a performance workshop that took place. There is a beautiful network of people on the island who are caring for the cats, and as the Tiny House Volunteer I was very much embraced - these people truly appreciate the work that is being done on this cat shelter. It is demanding yes, it is challenging yes. There are going to be difficult and hard days, but this is the Quest of Life anyways, no matter where it finds you. I even got interested in Bach Flower Remedies (Google that) as the hills were filled with the white rockrose, one of his basis flowers. I intend to return and build a shower, as I found that, this was one luxury I was missing. There is plenty of rain water, you can fetch from the well, for cooking, drinking, washing and showering, so you can feel in your mind like a warrior monk, living the Life! ;) But I found that I am more of a cat than I thought, and so my intention now is to return during the coming fall and built that shower and elevate the cat-feeling-of-cleanliness haha Of course you can shower with a camping bag, or go down the hill and arrange to take a shower. I had such an amazing time there really, I don't know what else to say, I spend days sunbathing, painting, reading - feeling like a Queen in her Gardens! There is much private space around the tiny house and with a bit of work in maintenance now and then, you can keep your paths clear and easy. Cats are a blessing, their shelter is about 5 min walk from the tiny house, where they are staying in little diy wonderful shelter homes, in barrels, with hay and other constructions. Be prepared to hike, though the path is going through an amazing and silent pine forest. I had the luck to pick plenty of asparagus and during the winter there are plenty of strawberry tree fruits. There are also figs during the summer, abundant lavender and rosemary for herb infusion and treatments. Butterflies, praying mantis, uhm some ticks, nature huh, cute hedgehogs and little birds. The beach is half an hour walk away - another blessing of the island. The solar panels and "The Beast" as she calls it - a massive power bank are more than enough to charge your devices and light the space. Unfortunately as to the time I was there, it couldn't support a fridge. But you can store sensitive things in a thermos box in the shade for a couple of days - that's what I did. I too used the electric saw to cut the necessary wood for my cooking, and you can charge that too there. Christina was more than helpful - she is a rare teacher, humble, showing me the ways of nature she has discovered over the years of staying around the Land. She is making sure the necessary work is done, and is giving plenty of free time always for you to do your own thing. Very respectful and understanding. And yet organized and effective in her ways she is managing this beautiful land. I have been so grateful to be given the chance to stay there. I know I wrote a lot, but I had to!!! Personally, I totally recommend it!

It was a wonderful experience to stay with Miguel. He is very supportive, kind , fun and always full of energy ☺️ I was here for a short stay of 11 days as I already had another volunteering opportunity booked, but those 11 days were fantastic. My main duties were teaching yoga, cooking and watering plants. I did a bit of painting too, but only for 1 day. After work, its a great place to explore if you love hikes and waterfalls or just sit in a cozy cafe. Its a very cute little village. Highly recommend this workaway.

I'm really happy about my stay of two weeks at the institute. The staff is really nice, especially Caro with whom we shared coffee breaks and some lunches. Volunteers are in charge of speaking sessions, meaning that depending on the students that show up at school, one can have sessions of any level with any students. This, together with Caro's organization, gives a lot of free time since there are hours in which there are not many people at school and volunteers are basically free. I stayed in the school, which was very convenient: the kitchen is shared with the staff and the students, while there is a volunteers-only bathroom. The school is also very well located because it's only 15 minutes walking away from the centre and there's a really nice park just a couple of blocks away. I really recommend this institute as a place to volunteer: I guess a longer stay allows one to connect with students and to experience many things around Cuenca. Thank you Caro and Michelle for these wonderful weeks!

We absolutely loved having Stevie stay with us and work on our property. It truly felt like his timing couldn’t have been better—we really needed an extra set of hands, and he showed up right when we needed it. Stevie was always happy to help, easy to spend time with, and genuinely became a part of our daily life while he was here. He has a fantastic attitude, a strong work ethic, and is just an all-around great person. During his stay, he helped build the outdoor shower for our tiny home and installed our new solar system—both of which we’re so grateful for. Anyone would be lucky to host Stevie through Workaway. We highly recommend him

I had an incredible month volunteering here. I was on the Solomundo program that had a great variety of tasks depending on the day focused on maintenance of the land and farm, along doing tours of sanctuary animals, improving the sustainability of site and helping out in the kitchen. The facilities are excellent with nice social areas, a pool we would always be using after work and very tasty food prepared 3 times a day by a chef that could adapt meals to suite my gluten allergy. I honestly feel so lucky to have found this volunteering opportunity. Such a good place with great people and feel like I’ve learnt a lot, all while helping towards a good cause.

Aida stayed with us for a month and we wished she could stay longer! She is one of the most helpful guests we have had the pleasure of hosting. Aida was very easy to talk to and get along with, as well as punctual, hard working, and a great listener with attention to detail. When a task was assigned to her it was done efficiently and correctly. Her tasks included shovelling snow, hauling firewood, cleaning the kitchen and dining room, brushing the dogs, vacuuming, minding the baby, and some meal preparation and kitchen help. She has a broad range of skills and is a quick learner. She was happy to join us on weekends for activities such as snowmobiling, cross-country skiing etc. She was interesting to talk to and speaks perfect English. She was great with the kids and dogs as well. Thanks Aida, we hope to see you soon!

Throughout this past month, Jules and Lisa have been such a lovely presence; always with a smile and a wonderful, uplifting energy. Often singing, always in a good mood, bringing lightness and positivity to the daily rhythm of the place. A beautiful attitude toward teamwork and everyday tasks, contributing with kindness, enthusiasm, and a genuine spirit of collaboration. The shared coffees, little anecdotes, and simple moments naturally turned into beautiful memories. Both brought something special to the team, and it has truly been a pleasure having them here with us. Thank you for the warmth, the energy, and everything you shared during your time here.
