  Hello from Haida Gwaii, formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands!
  
  We are two professional artists living in one of the most remote parts of the world.
  Our little house is almost 100 years old, and we could use help with outdoor painting, organisation, yard tasks, or structural tasks such as rebuilding fences and shelving!
  
  
  We live in a small town with simple groceries, a hardware store, a gas station, and 1-3 restaurants, depending on the time of year. It is very isolated. The town is a 20-minute walk in, and 20 minutes out. We live right on the ocean. You can borrow our truck if you have a driver's licence.
  
  
  We have a private upstairs area with a washroom and a tub. You can see the ocean from your bedroom window.
  
  Food:
  We are happy to exchange meals for work according to the community standards here in Workaway. We eat alot of local meat and fish and berries as our family hunts. We also eat commercial food (butter bread etc). We are happy to share what we cook. If you want vegetarian or vegan food you will need to create your own meals and shop for your own foods.

  Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

  Haida Gwaii is one of the most remote places on the planet. The biodiversity here is endless. It's primarily outdoorsy people. The community is a mixture of mostly Haida and some non-indigenous people, with many fascinating folk not interested in cities.
  
  This fishing and nature community is physically remarkable, ocean-bound has many rivers, and many things to do if you love the natural world!

  Ajuda

  We seek self-motivated people to help with yard and home projects. We live in a rainforest so things grow FAST! Gardening help is always needed.
  
  Master mechanics needed, too. We have an old 1977 GMC.
  
  Experience in caring for homes and yards, and dealing with tools is critical. We need helpers who enjoy looking at a task and problem-solving rather than waiting for direction.
  
  I note that MANY people write with an interest in 'being around artists' - so just a reminder that we are professionals 30 years deep in our trades (music, carving) and these are our jobs, our livelihood. These jobs are not for display. We will not be mentoring aspiring artists.

  I speak French and Spanish, but I am rusty right now as I only use English. I would love to have a French or Spanish speaker here to practice those languages and help the person with English. I speak only a few key phrases of my Indigenous language (Onkwehonkwe) and would welcome a Haudenausaune speaker here to learn from. Also my ancestral languages are Dutch and German, which I would also like to learn.

  Acomodação

  We have a spare room with a washroom. It’s a private space upstairs in a small house on the property. Very private and cute!
  
  We are happy to share and offer our kitchen and meals in accordance with the standards here on this site.
  For a more relaxed exchange, we can offer one meal a day, 5 days a week, in exchange for no more than 15 hours work per week. We are flexible and want you to enjoy Daajing Giids!

  Time off here is the natural world. We are close to incredible hikes, rivers and campgrounds. There are no movie theatres or malls and stuff like that here, but there are a handful of little restaurants and good grocery stores. There are lots of artists here, too.

  You can park here, and plug into our power if you living in your van. We can also provide a guest room for you which is quite private, upstairs, near a washroom that can be yours while you are here (there are 2 other washrooms).
