My name is Puwata Executive Director of a home for children with special needs based on the island community of Kalangala district Uganda Africa.
Our home is a community-based organization operating and serving the 84 islands that make up Kalangala District Local Government. It has been operating in Kalangala District for over 3 years. It was established on January 16, 2022. It is a model home for children with special needs from vulnerable communities and a center advocating for the rights of children with disabilities and supporting HIV/AIDS persons with disabilities within the island district of Kalangala. Our programs encompass education support, health, and advocacy for disability rights, addressing physical, mental, and sensory disabilities within the community.
To date, we have reached out to 556 people with disabilities from various island communities, including 316 children with special needs, 190 youth with disabilities, and 50 adults with disabilities. The home is currently supporting 56 children with special needs, while our model home accommodates 15 children from distant islands, providing them with food, education, and empowerment.
Our mission: A model home that welcomes children with special needs to realize their full potential for better health and development.
Our vision: To be a center of the child's voice, break silence in the community about disability, and provide information to the community on different natures of disability on the island district of Kalangala.

Here are the roles and responsibilities of each position;
Executive Director
1. Provides strategic leadership and vision for the organization.
2. Oversees overall operations, management, and administration.
3. Develops and implements policies, programs, and services.
4. Manages budgets, funding, and resource allocation.
5. Builds partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders.
Nurse
1. Provides medical care and support to children with special needs.
2. Conducts health assessments, develops care plans, and administers medications.
3. Monitors health conditions, provides wound care, and manages medical emergencies.
4. Collaborates with healthcare professionals and external services.
5. Maintains accurate health records and reports.
Children Caregiver
1. Provides daily care and support to children with special needs.
2. Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
3. Develops and implements individualized care plans.
4. Encourages socialization, play, and learning activities.
5. Maintains a safe and nurturing environment.
Program Officer
1. Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services for residents.
2. Coordinates activities, events, and outings.
3. Collaborates with staff, families, and external partners.
4. Monitors program budgets and resources.
5. Prepares reports and evaluations.
Teacher
1. Develops and implements individualized education plans (IEPs) for children.
2. Provides specialized instruction and support.
3. Adapts curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.
4. Collaborates with therapists and other support staff.
5. Monitors progress and reports to parents/guardians.
Administrator
1. Manages administrative tasks, such as admissions, discharges, and record-keeping.
2. Coordinates communication with families, healthcare providers, and external agencies.
3. Oversees maintenance, repairs, and renovations of facilities.
4. Manages supplies, inventory, and resources.
5. Ensures compliance with regulations and policies.
Security Officer
1. Ensures safety and security of residents, staff, and facilities.
2. Monitors CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
3. Conducts regular security patrols and risk assessments.
4. Responds to emergencies and incidents.
5. Maintains accurate security records and reports.

The home is a community-based organization serving the 84 islands that make up Kalangala district . As a district is enclosed with different cultural norms and values and Baganda being the largest termed some norms as "Jaja Mukasa" with many beautiful sceneries like island view, palm oil plantation, boat cruise, Zip lining, fishing community, bird watching, nature walk, forest walk, solar plant and caves.

We are calling upon friends from allover the world to come and join our my mighty team to volunteer and build hope, care, provide basic training and learning and create an empowering environment not only children with Special Needs but also youth with disabilities based in the island communities of Kalangala.

The center was established as a local organization and serving all cultures that would be your choice to learn from some.Acomodação
We shall provided accomodation and feeding as per the center arrangements.
The center will provide free food and if the food is not fit for any of our workawayers then they will be required to buy food outside the center at their own cost.
We rented a room outside the center facility that's secure and safe for the visitors safety and privacy and if you wished to stay within the center the available rooms are made of timber.Algo mais...
