  Welcome Bienvenidos Καλώς ήρθες Benvenuti ترحيب Karşılama Bienvenue Dobrodošl!
  We are a group of friends (Lev, Neva, Ziga, Enej, Mirjana, Eva) , with a house, and land, in a tiny village of Karst in Slovenia. It is only 3km to the Italian border, about half way between Ljubljana and Venice. Our house is also the base of an NGO working to create an environment of conscious, emphatic and enthusiastic people who aim to work for a common future. Bojan, its president (photographer), lives in the neighbouring village, when he is not at sea on his boat Nalu. Eva, its director (lawyer) lives permanently in the house when she is not on missions in Africa. Only a couple of people may be present during the week, others would come on weekends. We organize exhibitions, sometimes a concert and workshops (held by Urska, Ana) in dance, aerial silk, wild holidays, aromatherapy and other. Our place is 15 minutes by car to the sea and in the middle of charming but rough countryside, with an abundance of interesting people to meet and places to feel. It is peaceful and you will love it.

  The area is inhabited by the Slovenian and Italian, as well as many other "crazy" people, it has a rich history going back to a hundred years and more, it was witness to severe fighting during WW1, belonged to Austro-Hungarian Empire, later Italy, later Yugoslavia and now Slovenia. It is open towards the Adriatic sea as well as towards Middle Europe and the East. NGO members are lawyers, photographers, teacher, anthropologists/political scientists, visual artists, music lovers, all with vast intercultural experience, and you might even meet our new colleague from Palestine. Several languages are spoken in the house.

  Ajuda

  We are in the process of preparing the "community" part of the house and surroundings, which serve as exhibition/concert/events place, we would like to have a tiny market place in the center of the village, and prepare dry toilets for the children who attend our workshops every summer. We would like to host, during April and May, maybe up to three people, who like to help with easy construction work or just work in the vegetable and fruit garden. Some cooking skills are welcome too.

  Acomodação

  The house is huge but has few rooms so workawayers would be staying in one huge room and there are several bathrooms. We may be able to find separate bedrooms for girls and boys, if that proves to be an issue. Apart from weekends, only one to three inhabitants of the house would be present, one acting as coordinator. One of the volunteers would cook for everyone, or maybe we could rotate in cooking. Internet is available.

  A bike or two can be made available. Great hiking around too. There are only a few buses a day, to Nova Gorica, but we would help you with transportation, maybe drive you to different places for sightseing, etc. Shared transportation is available also, if you want to go to Ljubljana, or you can catch a train to Venice,we just drive you down to Monfalcone. It is pretty sure that you would just love to hang around the big tree in front of the house and stay home.
