I stayed there for 10 days. I had a really wonderful time.
Everyone was so friendly, and I was genuinely happy that they were interested in Japan. They always complimented the Japanese food I made.
I was given a comfortable room, I had plenty of time for myself, and the cat, Siúcra, often stayed in my room and comforted me (I have allergies, but

The weather wasn't great, but on clear days, the town was so charming that just walking around lifted my spirits.
Susie is friendly, intelligent, and loves nature. She told me many stories and took me to the nearby forests and to Cork.
Arran was very interested in Japanese, and we greeted each other in Japanese. He is really cute and sweet. I hope he can join a program in Japan.
Isaac is really adorable yet intelligent. We played card games, and he usually won. He seems to like cooking too, so I'm looking forward to his future.
Marcus was at work most of the time so we didn't spend many days together, but he was incredibly friendly, and I was really happy to meet him. He was so kind as even to buy me a souvenir.
I am truly grateful for the time I spent with you all.

I stayed with Susie and Isaac for three weeks in the last summer. I really enjoyed spending the time in Kinsale and with the two of them. Their openness and hospitality quickly made me feel at home! Hello! I had the pleasure to stay with this family for 2 weeks in August. This has been my first workaway experience and I could not have enjoyed it more! Susie and Marcos are so kind and friendly. I was warmly welcomed in their home with a very good lunch all together. The kids are very sweet and polite: Arron helped me a lot with the language,
… read more he always explained me new words. He’s very intelligent and quiet. He loves drawing: he’s a young artist. Isaac is very nice and curious: his smile is a sunshine. Both the children are helpful with household chores. Susie and Marcos treated me as a friend from the first moment we met. We had very interesting conversations and they are also great cooks: they made healthy and delicious meals. Working wasn’t hard and it took around five hours a day sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. I took care of the kids and helped at home with some small chores.
Kinsale is a cute little town by the sea. I spent lot of my free time on the beach, or relaxing in the cafes/pubs of Kinsale. I enjoied walking on the country streets or visiting heritage sites near the town. I stayed with Susie,Marcus, Arran and Isaac from the end of January to the first week of March 2016.
It was my first exerience as a workawayer,and I have to say that this family is really nice,friendly and welcoming!
My work was not always the same,sometimes I had to look after Isaac,or collect Arran from school...sometimes I was asked to
… read more cook,or hoovering,doing some light houseworks,but they always tried to follow my commitments (my english and cookery classes),and they also let me go away for a few days when I found a short job as a petsitter in the countryside near Cork.
Susie and Marcos really made me feel at home,and I think that this is the most important thing when you are away from your home.
When I left them to stay with another family in Cork,I felt as I was leaving my place...I don't know how to expalin it...

A big big hug to all the family
The family is awesome and made me feel at home from the very start. I was able to explore the town of Kinsale and go into Cork and a few other places with them. They know a lot about the area and can reccomend things to do. Marcus and Susie have also travelled a lot themselves and can give good advice about places to go.
I stayed in the winter when the weather is sometimes terrible and still managed to have a good time so I can only imagine how amazing it will be when the weather improves.
I am sure you will feel comfortable and at home if you choose this family, like I did. :)

I stayed with Marcus and Susie for 2 months in January and February 2015. I stayed with them in their new house in the beautiful town of Kinsale.
The work that I did varied but was mostly looking after the boys (mainly Isaac the 2 year old who is a joy) and also driving Arryn to school and general house work (laundry, hoovering, dishes,

No day was exactly the same and some days I worked long hours and some very few, so as long as you are willing to be flexible you will be fine.

… read more weekends to visit Kinsale and Cork. I strongly recommend to have some walk at the surfing beach in Garretstown – there are really wonderful views! Work was absolutely okay and not too much. It was a perfect mix of working and being part of the family.I always had the opportunity to spend some time alone in my own room and to relax. They always wanted me to feel home and I really did. I enjoyed my time there and recommend this family to you to the best of one's knowledge!

Marcus is very nice as well but he was really busy during the time I spent there. I had the chance to go to one of his plays in Cork, Aladdin. That was simply amazing! I also went to one spectacle of impro he did with some colleges, that was so funny!
The grandma, Margaret came every week to visit us. I really like her she is very nice and warm.
About the area where they live... Garrettstown is so beautiful and Kinsale so colourful!You will love it. They got me a bike so I had the chance to explore all the area but it was difficult sometimes, so many hills!
I did some good friends there, there are many au pairs in the area so you can meet people and go out from time to time. I went to traditional irish dance lessons with them in Kinsale, try it!
They always made me feel welcome, wanted and comfortable.
