Descrição
Hello! I am Ruairi, a Scottish artist, painter, sculptor, musician, I have made my home here in the Amazon forest.
Located close to a small village in the Iquitos area, there's plenty of opportunities to get to know the joys and hardships of life in the jungle!:)
There is a big communal space for shared meals, creativity, talks, music jams and private spaces for accommodation and doing your own thing.
We are currently working on developing our garden and further enhancing our infrastructure using natural building materials suited for jungle climate.
This is a space that would like to welcome creative people eager to explore and learn from the jungle, to get to know themselves in a new and often challenging environment and contribute to building a beautiful space.
If you are an artist that would like to enhance your skills, learn or teach, you are absolutely welcome!
You are welcome to be responsible for your own food and cooking to meet your needs, and you are also welcome to share food and meals and take turns with the cooking and shopping with the other people here. It often works best that way.
You are not being asked for a significant work contribution (only up to 15 hours per week), because we cannot usually afford to feed you. Please be prepared to support your food costs. If you would like to work more and be fed, please discuss:)Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
In terms of cultural exchange, this is a great opportunity to truly experience what living in the middle of the jungle is like! The village is close enough that you can meet the local community, as well as other fellow travelers here. You can practice your Spanish (as well as the local dialect, Charapo/Loretano). At home we speak English and Spanish depending who is around.
You can learn about jungle-specific flora and fauna, medicinal plants and their uses, gardening and eco construction.
One of the most important things you will discover is a new aspect of yourself and your own abilities and stamina.
The jungle is amazing and gives many gifts to those brave enough to explore it!Ajuda
We need help with the maintenance of structures, cooking and daily chores around the house. There are always some missions around the garden, planting, harvesting, taking care of the plant nursery.
Depending on the moment, there might be a construction project, which is a great opportunity to learn about construction specific to jungle environment.
There may be opportunities for house-sitting when you could have the place all to yourself.
If you are an artist, you are more than welcome to initiate your own project or help out in the existing ones. Perhaps you'll learn some valuable skills.
We value your bringing good vibes to the space! :)Idiomas
Inglês: Fluente
Espanhol: FluenteAcomodação
There are simple, private jungle huts for accommodation containing single or double beds.
There is a lake to bathe in as well as shared showers and compost toilets.
In the communal house, there is a kitchen, dining area, living room, and a chilling space with instruments - jamming sessions are most welcome!Algo mais...
To get here, you need to get a boat from Iquitos to the village of Santa Maria del Ojeal and then take a 20 min walk. There is no timetable but boats are fairly frequent until the afternoon.
On their time off, volunteers can take walks and explore nature - there are so many things to see and be amazed by!
There are communal spaces that you can use to do your hobbies or practices - you can do yoga in the maloca, play music or write or whatever else is your passion.
You are welcome to take plenty of time for your own projects.
The maloca can be used to host ceremonies with one of the local curanderos. There is a profound tradition of local plant medicine in the surrounding area.Mais alguns detalhes

I enjoyed a lot the place, his company and the people's presence at this moment.
The help was focused around building a new Maloca when I was there. Got very interesting talks with Ruari about various topics, he's a good source of information about the area, the natives, the history, I learnt much from our talks.… read more
