Descrição
Come to our beautiful little campsite! We are a small traditional campsite set along both banks of the river Trieux in a wooded walley near the town on Guingamp. We are a french/British family with two boy 11 and 12. We like to meet people from all different cultures and learn about them.

Here, you can walk around, cycle, take the bus or be dropped of somewere. You are very welcome to make use of our canoes, kayaks and mountain bikes to explore the river and beautiful surrounding countryside. The site is also great for fishing, climbing and nature spotting (kingfishers, otters, owls, bats, deer, red squirrels etc). We are only a half hour from the sea and you may wish to visit the well known Pink Granite Coast.

We're a french/English couple so we can speak in either languages.

The tasks are varried and depend on the season. In the spring, Jobs around the site would include helping with , outdoor maintenance, like our vedge garden, painting, building projects or looking after the animals (ducks, hens), helping with work on our house.
In the summer,we are looking for someone to take care of the 2 boys 10 and 11 years old, and perhaps, do some cleaning, cooking.
You will be ask to do about 4 hours, per day and you can have sunday off.

I am interested in Learning German I studed it at school a long time ago. Also my children have started learning it at school so it would be great if they could practice it a bit!

You can either stay in a mobile home if available in our garden or come with a tent or a van and enjoy being on the campsite among the tourists.

We have preaty good wifi in the house and at the campsite, but we don't have a room where you can work all day.

Carla stayed with us last summer and we were very happy to have her.
She was very helpfull in every way, which was mostly helping with the house and playing with the boys. She was cheerful and very adaptable. She also helped me learn some German.

If you want to experience a lovely stay where everyday is a bit different you should do a workaway at this place.
Jon and Margareth are lovely hosts and even though summer is such a busy time for them, they will take you whenever they have a bit time off to beaches or other beautiful places with them.

We had a really excellent experience with this family at their campsite. I had very specific criteria for a workaway adventure for myself (Rose) and my son William so I spent a lot of time researching hosts and was delighted to be accepted by my first choice. I was hoping for a fully immersive and integrated experience with my son where we could… read more get plenty of opportunity to spend fun time outdoors mixing with other children, have a break from the usual term-time routine and escape the temptations of tablet and television screens. The experience we had completely met these expectations and more. The campsite is absolutely lovely and the family is joyful and welcoming. We visited in high season when Jonathan and Maggie are extremely busy running their campsite and meeting the needs of their campers. Consequently, workawayers should be able to work on their own initiative when necessary and understand that the family is not constantly available for cultural exchange or have much time to just hang-out. My primary responsibility was to prepare family meals, do a little housework and spend constructive time with the children. Communication was good and I was able to agree clear work expectations and parameters with Maggie. This meant that we knew who was cooking and when and could be clear about where the children were, what they were doing and who was responsible at what time. Certainly, it was a very positive experience for William who got on well with Pierre and Clement but was also able to have time on his own or interacting with other children staying on the campsite. It is important that my children contribute when we workaway together and I was proud of William’s behaviour. I think he was mindful of the need to help with general tasks such as clearing the table and also the responsibility on him as the oldest to show a good example. I had my own transport so was able to take all three boys on outings to the beach and a local castle which was something we all really enjoyed. We also had our bicycles and did lots of riding on the campsite and surrounding trails. In terms of accommodation, I am not able to comment on what is usually offered to workawayers. During my stay, William and I slept in our own van and there was another workawayer in the mobile home. This arrangement suited us very nicely as we were able to have our breakfast independently and had some private space (albeit small) to which we could retreat for downtime and enabled us to control our own bedtime. The family home is somewhat chaotic because it is in the process of renovation and household tasks understandably take second place to the campsite during the summer season. Bathroom facilities in the house are limited and we used the campsite toilets and washing facilities. I would say that workawayers staying here need to be totally cool with camping (but why would you apply here if you weren’t)! While I was staying there was a very basic temporary kitchen set up in what will be the main house bathroom. The “future” kitchen is just an empty shell. In my home life, my kitchen is extremely important to me and I do lots of cooking and preserving of produce from our garden and I am used to having a lot of choice and control around the food we eat. At times it was quite challenging (practically and emotionally) to cater for up to eight people at family mealtimes, especially with a cooker that was not fully functional. But part of the attraction of workaway is being taken outside your comfort zone and working through such challenges. I think I did okay; I shall have to wait for my hosts feedback to find out! I really liked the family and admired their commitment to their business and their aspirations for a positive and loving family life. I was inspired by their ideas and motivations and felt it was a very uplifting experience for William and I to spend time with them. We are optimistic to return in the future when hopefully all four of our family will be able to workaway on this lovely valley campsite.
