  November 2026 update: I might have space (mental and physical) to host in November
  
  I am more likely to host people who are available on short notice. My plans tend to change quickly, so I cannot say yes or no if you want to come in December or later because I have no idea if I will be around or not. I don't want to say YES and then cancel.
  
  Please do me a huge favor: if you send me a message and I say YES, I can host you, please let me know ASAP what your situtation is (e.g. YES, NO, MAYBE, I am still looking around). This makes it so much easier for me to plan. I totally understand that people write to different WA hosts and see who says yes and then decide which one they think is the best fit. Please just let me know.
  
  Standard info:
  Hello, my name is Kelly. Originally from the US, I have lived in Italy for over 30 years now. I have 3 adult children (and almost 2 grandbabies!); two live nearby and one lives in Spain.
  I have been a workawayer (also woofer, SCI/IVS, and similar type things) guest and host for many years.
  In theory I work from home as a translator. Practically speaking, this job has tanked so I am trying to figure out what to do next. I am currently working outside the home a few days a week so I won't be around all the time. Plus, a new grandbaby is coming soon so I may be a little busy helping my daughter out.
  I enjoy dabbling in arts and crafty sorts of things - none of which I am good at, but I do have fun trying.
  
  Important to note is that we (right now just me) do smoke in the house.
  Also important to note is my daughter's dog may be here sometimes. She is big and has lots of hair - if you are allergic to dogs, you probably don't want to come here.
  
  We eat everything (no special diets) so you can expect that there will be pasta, meat and vegetables in the house. All the food in my house is available to you. If you need anything special, you will have to take care of it yourself. Please make sure to tell me if you have any allergies, special diets BEFORE you get here (i.e. in the FIRST message you send). If you have any hardcore allergies or dietary restrictions , this is probably not the right place for you.
  
  Sometimes we eat together and sometimes we don't . Sometimes the kids and friends come over for lunch or dinner (chaotic but usually a good time is had by all).
  
  
  I have a bike that one workawayer fixed in part, but it still needs some work on it . As far as I know the front brakes barely work - use at your own risk - it would probably be a good idea to fix it before using it. If you love fixing bikes, I have one waiting for you (actually two, but I think the other one is unfixable).
  
  Finally, many people ask if I can help them getting residency here in Italy. I can't. It is a total hassle and comes with a bunch of rules and regulations and costs that I don't want to deal with. Thank you for understanding.

  The house is on the Ancona- Rome train line. The area is safe, the people are friendly, If you are into outdoor sports, there are lots of rock climbers and cavers in the area. The nature around here is beautiful. There is a little bar near my house where the locals and lots of rockclimbers meet so if you are ready to get out there and learn some Italian, it is possible.

  The November help might look like :
  - very boring general cleaning tasks
  - coating the wooden shutters with oil
  - cleaning up the garden (putting stuff away, preparing the tiny veggie garden for the winter, figuring out where to put the geraniums so they make it through the winter)
  - helping out in the kitchen for a lunch for about 30-40 people near the end of November (US Thanksgiving party)
  - taking my daughter's dog out for a walk (although I am not sure if the dog will be staying here for a couple weeks or not)
  - basic puttering around and seeing something you would like to fix/clean/organize/change.
  
  How much will you help out? Realistically about 2 serious hours a day / 5 days a week seems like a fair deal to me. The regular stuff related to staying alive (normal daily tasks) is not included in that 2 hours. I say "serious" hours because some people might need more or less time to get whatever project they pick for the day done. We all work at a different pace.
  
  Now that it is no longer hot out, the help times are mostly flexible. There may be some occasions where I need help at a certain time and will ask you to get up early.
  
  Some WAs have used my place as their home base for a bit. Meaning that they stay here but go away for a few days to explore the area and then come back. That is fine by me.
  
  I expect people to do their fair share without me having to tell them exactly what to do every single day (there is always something that needs to (should be) done such as sweep, vacuum, dust the bookshelf, clean the stovetop , remove the cobwebs from the front door area, shake off the doormat, put garden furniture away for the winter, etc.)
  
  Yes, I know those types of tasks are not exciting, but they are very much noticed and appreciated.
  
  Note: you won't be the only one tidying up - I do my share as well : seeing someone do something gives me motivation to get moving.
  
  The best type of Workawayers for my situation are people who are independent, go-getters (motivators), have a good sense of humor, do not require constant supervision, and have a good dose common sense.

  I have 2 bedrooms available, everything else is shared. Heat and hot water is via a pellet stove. The amount of time it is on depends on the weather. Pellets this year are super expensive so I am trying to not use them as much as previous years. The house will not be freezing cold but you might need an extra sweater some times.

  Google "Grotte di Frasassi" to get an idea of the surroundings. The train station is about a 10-minute walk from my place. The closest (not the most beautiful) beach is 40 minutes on the train (make sure to buy tix online). The closest biggish town is Fabriano (home to the paper museum and bike museum and Saturday market).

  Unlimited wi-fi . It is not super fast but does the trick - unless synchronizing google drive - that sucks up all the wi-fi when it is on - but it's a good excuse to get off the computer and do something else. Also, if you have a Macbook , for some reason they seem to hog all the internet. If I am working and really need the internet, I may ask you to shut it off for a little bit (or maybe you know why this happens and can fix it). I have a couple desks that can be moved to wherever you want.

  I do not have private parking but there is a flat parking area near my house. This flat parking area is currently being used by big trucks due to the railroad construction work going on nearby so that space may or may not be available (I can't know in advance). Otherwise, there are regular parking spots on a slight slope.

  If they are super chill (not barkers for example), don't eat the furniture, like sniffing around the kitchen to clean up any food that has fallen on the floor, don't escape every time the door is open, and you clean up after them it shouldn't be a problem.
