  If you are looking for a retreat from the urban areas and everyday rush, if you are looking for a place to do your meditation, to write a book or your thesis, to work remotely, or you need a touch with real locals, or just change your lifestyle for some time, this is the opportunity. Its the revived farm on the edge of the Kolpa Landscape Park in Bela Krajina (rural part in SouthEast of Slovenia) which is close to the warmest Slovenian river named Kolpa.
  Throughout the spring and autumn the homestead welcomes travellers in camper vans and bicycles where they can find peace and rest for their journeys.
  In summer time the homestead is a venue for traditional summer camps for kids and youth. While vivid in summer, the homestead needs caretaker(s) in spring and autumn.
  The land was bought in 2011 by the founder of the NGO that organizes summer camps since its establishment. Well, since the owner and landlord has his professional career in other parts of Slovenia, he's looking for volunteers to help maintain the homestead. He is a professional Innovation Manager for international corporations and working in solar industry, the homestead is his retreat from intense work mainly for the weekends. He usually cares about the homestead himself, its maintenance and renovation, often supported by his son and friends.
  In summer time the NGO runs kids’ summer camp programs on this homestead (when typically no additional help by volunteers is needed).
  Out of summer camp season volunteers are expected to live on the homestead by themselves, with the responsibility to welcome guests/travellers, maintain the land and the buildings (mainly lawnmowing and housekeeping tasks), and occasionally give a hand to the owner (when present) for renovation. Handy skills are welcome for repairs and renovation tasks. Adding volunteers’ personal touch to the homestead through arts and crafts is highly welcome. Volunteers define their own daily schedules, meet locals (or avoid them) at their own choice 😊, organise their leisure time and discovery of the countryside, while the homestead is maintained at the same time. Tools and materials are available at the homestead, some training might be required.

  Ajuda

  Not more than 20h of help per week is expected. Activities include (but not limited to): welcoming travellers (mostly in camper vans and bicycles), doing laundry, lawnmowing, cleaning (bathrooms, windows, sweeping, wiping cobwebs and dust), watering flowers and plants, deweeding, basic repairs, personal upgrades and decoration etc.
  You define your own daily schedule and days-off. Landlord expects tasks to be completed on a regular basis. Outdoor tasks should be adapted to weather conditions (e.g. lawn moving).

  Acomodação

  You have a private room or apartment. It is basic, but fully furnished, includes fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Outdoor alternatives are offered as well, since the homestead is a venue for summer camps for kids and youth.
  Couples and families as welcome as well.

  Since owner is not present all the time volunteer needs to prepare its own meals (fully equipped kicthen available, as well all food supply). When owner is around prepared local food is offered. Occasionaly friends and family members join on weekends as well, to help with renovation or just to enjoy the destination. These days are more vivid for volunteer(s) as well.
  Volunteer has plenty of free time to enjoy the nature with beautiful scenary and landmarks, for sports (nearby river for swimming and stand-up paddling, cycling), meeting locals and cultural events, knowing etnographic specialities...
  Bicycle and SUP board is available for use, as well as a car pickup to the final destination.
