Maise is a really really kind person and host. I felt very welcomed right at the start in her beautiful farm and house. I helped her with making the vegetable garden ready for winter, cleaned the windows, small tasks around the house and "kos" with the sheep and lamb! I love sheep and wool and this is a place perfect to learn about it. Maise knows everything and is continuing learning, which is really inspiring.

My time with Maise was an unexpected and delightful surprise. I didn't actually plan a workaway with Maise, but instead I accidentally happened across her farm while I was travelling alone in Norway. I took the wrong turn while looking for the start of a hike, and had to turn my car round in her drive way. After chatting briefly through the car
… read more window, Maise so kindly invited me round for tea and a lovely friendship soon blossomed between us. After another workaway cancelled on Maise for the lambing season, I offered to help and we ended up having the most fun, interesting, yet hard-working two weeks together. I work full-time as a digital nomad and so Maise was more than happy to let me help her out during hours which fit around my work schedule, on reflection it was probably too many, but I wanted to help Maise with the very busy lambing season and for me, that was an incredible experience! Maise was kind, curious, funny, generous, witty, intelligent, warm, VERY hard-working, open-minded and patient. We had SO much fun together and she taught me so much about sheep farming and the lambing season. She gave me opportunities to learn so many things like sheering the sheep, bottle feeding new lambs and EVERYTHING about the lambing process - I even delivered a couple of lambs myself and learnt all the important signs of how to know what's going on during the birthing process to ensure it goes smoothly. At the same time as it being the busy lambing season, Maise was also doing a big renovation to her barn - adding fascia to the front - which required lots of wood working, climbing scaffolding, using power tools, painting, trying, failing and trying again...neither of us have training in carpentry, but together we did a really beautiful and almost professional looking job. The work wasn't easy and working high up on the scaffolding was scary, but working together was such a pleasure, because we just totally vibed with each other and had a really easy and natural way of communicating. I think it's because we are both really cool and amazing people. The two weeks we spent together were so busy and hectic with long days and lots of hard work, but it didn't feel hard because we looked out for each other and Maise never expected too much from me, plus because she was such a kind, generous person I just always wanted to help her. Anyway, after my amazing experience with Maise, I now consider her a friend and I'm planning to visit her again next summer. She was a wonderful host that can offer great conversation, an amazing sense of humour and a warm, caring attitude and I highly recommend anyone that loves nature and wants to learn about sheep farming and life in Norway to absolutely go and visit her, you won't regret it.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

We put up a big scaffold and made a fascia for the barn, a really big job.
As that job was almost done, lambing started, and that is a day and night job for weeks. Rachel was always there to help. She never says no, and please don't ask her for too much. It's easy for a host to do that, when she is such a positive and caring person.
Rachel and I had a great time together, some long unforgettable talks. She became a very good friend, and I'm so looking forward to seeing her again next summer.

Jack and Noée stayed with us for two weeks when I was visiting my daughter in Arizona for a week. We had one week together, and that was a pure pleasure. We went skiing a couple of times, and that was great days for all of us. We also walked up to the viewpoint and had a campfire and bbq there, so nice.

Writing feedback on here almost feels a little impersonal, yet I want to give other workawayers a chance of knowing how much I adored my time with Maise and her sheep.
Maise is such a genuine and down-to-earth person. She is caring and thoughtful, always gives her all to her animals, and can do anything once she sets her mind to it. Being around
… read more her felt very inspiring to me. I will miss our talks over a cup of tea. She has such a trusting connection to her sheep. They are all well-kept and just about the happiest and friendliest sheep I have encountered. I was there during the lambing season so I got to meet plenty of new easter lambs and absolutely adored taking care of them and their mamas. I also spent my time painting and working outside. Helped a little here and there, keeping the place tidy, cleaning the chicken pen, chopping wood, and brainstorming new ideas for the barn and the feeding system. No lambs on the catwalk ;) What you do to help on the farm definitely depends on the time of year you're there.
In the evenings I liked taking walks around the area with my new dog friend Morris, down to the lake which in my opinion could count as a fjord from the way it looks, and just overall enjoyed the peace and sounds of nature.

They cook excellent vegetarian food, I will really miss that.
Their dog Prana is a sweet thing, and she and my own dog went on very well. They had so much fun together, and we will miss Prana a lot.
Jessica and Ezequiel carried out several different tasks here, both pure hard labour and also tasks that requiered skills. We moved an old filling of bricks and broken roof tiles from behind a wall that was caving in. A horrible job that I could never have done on my own. Thank you so much!
They renewed and painted the ceiling in the first floor, tidied up my vegetablegarden for the winter, did several improvements in the barn, fitted cables and pipes several places around.
All in all a very pleasant experience to have them here.
You are lucky if this couple choose to be with you, because they can pick whoever they want.

We had an excellent experience since the first day that we took the wrong way to arrive to the farm and our car got stuck, Maise and Andy rescued us with the tractor :)
We stayed at the farm during one month.

Sofia stayed with us for almost two weeks and helped us with a lot of different tasks. She was never hard to ask. She was eager to help me with anything, both indoors and outdoors. She also made us dinner several times, and showed us her cooking abilities. Sofia loved our cats and they loved her. It was interesting to see how she 'talked' to them.

Maise is very open and welcoming – we even had a nice hike together, searching for the sun.
The tasks varied and were never too "challenging" – I did e.g. clean the windows, dig some holes, remove plastic rests from the green house, clean out the chickens' stable. I also got to paint some beehives, cut wood
… read more with a wood-cutting machine (?)... (Helping with) feeding the sheep was always fun, despite of the time of the day (too dark)! They are really cute and curious animals and I did not take me long to pick my favourite. Apart from them, it's Morris, the mice-catching dog, and Pelle, big "ginger cat" – and the beautiful Silla. So, there's always someone who might want to play or cuddle.
I did not get to see Terje too much, but he is a funny and sometimes quite talkative guy. Apart from that, the English workawayer Andy, also stayed at the farm during the time was there and on my last days I also got to know Nora, Maise's daughter. Evenings were mainly spend in the cosy living room next to the fire place and we had a lot of coffee / tee and chocolate or cake, sometimes.

It was my first workaway and I can't imagine a better place for the first workaway. I felt so comfortable with Maise and Terje from the very first beginning. They are very cordial, nice and funny people! We had great conversations, about our experiences in life and the purpose of life, what to expect from life and thinking outside the box.

… read more home is so cozy. When I first entered the kitchen and living room I was sure that it will be a great time ;) So bright and with a nice view. The veranda is very nice, too. Perfect for relaxing :)
They have a really nice dog, Morris, which loves to be cuddled ;) It was so nice to have him around me when I was working.
I mainly worked in Maises garden, removed weeds, filled up the wholes Morris had dug. I planted 3 cherry trees and started to give the many tomatoes a climbing support.
Moreover I cooked a lot and baked once an apple crumble cake, with apples from their garden :)
Unfortunately Maise had been a little bit ill so we couldn't go hiking together but she told me where to go and we did a little walk to a very nice place with a beautiful view on the lake Norsjø and visited the Vrangfoss sluse.
The lake Norsjø is so nice and you can borrow a bike from Maise or Terje and drive 10 minutes to a lovely little beach where you can enjoy the silence and the view. I also rode my bicycle to Ulefos and to Ulefos Hovedgaard.
On the weekend I borrowed Maises car and went hiking to Gaustatoppen and the other day I drove to Kragerø and visited Jomfruland. I can really recommend both activities.
Besides I learned shooting, Terje took me with him to the shooting field which was a really nice and impressive experience.
I'm so grateful for the nice time I had on your farm, all the experiences and that I met you! Tusen takk for everything, Maise and Terje!

Andrew was our first workawayer-experience, and he certainly was a good experience, so good that we definitly want to continue haveing people here in the years to come. He was so easy to have in the house, and never complaining about whatever I asked him to help me with. We worked very well side by side, and he also worked a bit independently.

Now that I list up everything we did together I realize how much work we actually got done in those two weeks he was here!
I can really recomend Andrew as a workawayer.
We both hope to see him again here on the farm some day.

Maise and Terje welcomed me into their small organic farm in Ulefoss and were brilliant, hospitable hosts. It was an absolute pleasure to stay with them for 2 weeks and to help on their farm, in the beautiful Norweigan countryside.
We ate evening meals together, played Rummi and were flexible about when we ate, and to some extent when we worked.

There was always something new to be done each day. I loved the new challenges in physical work and the variety of farm life away from the bustle of city life. Maise was so helpful with researching places to kayak in the area on weekends and to answering all my many questions about Norway. She shared my enthusiasm along the way.
The area was great for cycling around. I swam in the nearby lake often after work and soaked up the calmness of the landscape. On weekends I cycled to Lunde to kayak in the river 🛶🛶
It was really nice to be around so many animals; sheep, chickens, pigs, Mira the lamb, two cats and Morris, the friendly farm dog.
Maise is patient, honest and calm. If I had any troubles with the work she would always help me along with it.
We had such good chats about travelling and our experiences throughout life.
Terje made me laugh every day, he's a great character and so easy going.
Both are really warm-hearted people and I would absolutely recommend them as hosts.
I'm so grateful for this experience that I'll never forget, as my first Workaway experience as well as theirs.
I hope to visit again the farm again in the future, it will be great to see the barn finished!!
