It was really nice to have Steven helping us after along time without workawayers due to the pandemic situation. Steven was great with the kids, both the older ones and the little one. We was always eager to help and ready to play with them. He also help a lot with house chores. It was amazing to meet him fot all the family.

I had a great experience staying with this family! I stayed for about a month and would definitely recommend doing a WorkAway with Dani, Natalia, and their kids. First time workaway experience and it was great! I spent over a month with the family and was blown away by the kids ( Max, Linus, little Nico and the adorable Mia), how clever and cheeky they are.

They speak a great level of English especially Max and Linus with the exception of Mia who is the youngest so some Spanish or Catalan is recommended to communicate with her!
I loved that they live in the town of Teià which was beautiful with its mountains and Catalan feel. It was close enough to make daily excursions to any of the nice beaches along the coast or into Barcelona itself. The accomodation is great as you can get your own toilet and room, meals were healthy.
Overall, I highly recommended you think about joining the family whilst you are workawaying in Barcelona and hope to see you soon.

I am incredibly grateful for this wonderful family who let me stay with them for 2 months this year in October and November. The family was extra kind to me and made sure I was totally comfortable. Teià is a nice little quiet village tucked between the mountains and the sea. You can hike in the mountains behind the village to get some amazing views of the area and Barcelona. El Masnou, a dormitory town and tourist destination in summer, borders Teià has the beach and more restaurants and such to offer. There is a lot of public beach space about a 25 minute walk from the house. It's also within a reasonable distance to Barcelona by public transportation. You can either take a bus that stops right by the house or the train that leaves from the shore in El Masnou depending on the time. You might also borrow a bicycle to get around town. It is honestly the perfect location; it's nice and quiet and close to nature, but you can easily hop over to Barcelona for a short day trip if you want!
I grew very fond of all the kids and I wish I could have stayed for longer. Max is 12 and had just started secondary school when I arrived, so his schedule was slightly different than the younger boys. He is really intelligent, likes computers and Minecraft, and likes to goof around with his siblings. Linus who is 8 is a little shy sometimes, but he really is super friendly and creative. Nico, who is 7 now, is a little ball of energy and enjoys playing soccer or basketball whenever he gets the chance. Then, Mia, who is just 2, is the sweetest and really brightens up the house. Although, she is little and might need some special attention from you such as when mom has to leave for a short amount of time. All the boys really like basketball, playing games that they made up, listening and dancing to music with the family, and video games of course (except they are limited on how much tech time they get). Although a little wild sometimes, they are a bunch of great kids! I really miss them.
As this was my first time as an au pair, I felt pretty rusty at the beginning. However, the family was extra patient with me and I soon got the rhythm down.
Accommodations were perfectly fine. You get a room for yourself in the basement with a big bed (which they acquired shortly after I arrived). They have a washer and dryer but might end up needing to air dry the clothes sometimes. The house is very comfortable and when the weather is nice they keep the windows open and eat outside. You will have everything you need here.
While sometimes things can get a little hectic here, I had an absolutely great time working for and hanging out with this big amazing family. I would totally do it again if I could! I will never forget you all for this rewarding experience. Thank you so much, Dani and Natàlia!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

As my first workaway experience, I had the luxury of staying with this incredible family for two fabulous months within the serene area of Teià. Words simply cannot do my experience or this wonderful family justice, but I'll try.
First of all, the area: Teià is an absolutely gorgeous area. You're located around 1km away from the lovely beach
… read more town of El Masnou, with Barcelona only 10km away. You really get the best of both worlds here - being in the heart of a village and a short walk away from the beach or mountains, in addition to being able to catch a train to Barcelona to enjoy the bustling city life. Oh and the weather is gorgeous too!
Teià was perfect for myself as I really enjoy the quiet and calm of a village/town. Your nearest cafe is a 5 minute walk away and there are plenty of independent stores to buy from if you're ever in need of food. El Masnou also has a McDonald's and three large supermarkets! However, you may never need to buy anything as you are free to utilise the food that's at home.
Accomodation: When I first arrived at the home at the start of April, I was blown away. Located within a pocket of a few other houses, electronic gates guard the entrance and protect the street leading to the house. The home itself has a ton of garden space for the kids, a communal pool just outside of the garden, a play/chill area beyond the sliding french doors, a large and very modern kitchen and dining area, four bathrooms, utility room... and much more.
I resided within two lovely bedrooms during my stay. Both rooms were spacious and very clean. Natalia and Dani were renovating the ground floor (garage area) when I arrived and once it was complete I was moved to the new bedroom down there. The renovations and decor were immaculate, however, it did take me a little bit of time to get comfortable in my new room on the ground floor. It was slightly eerie being alone down there; with the family being two floors above me, it felt as though they were miles away. Though of course this does come with the positive of really having your own space and peace and quiet which was great! Also, I'm sure Nat and Dani have this on their to-do list, but the windows are in need of some blinds/shutters as there's just paper covering them at the moment. Oh, and the wifi connection down there can be limited at times. A part from my nitpicking, no real complaints in this area!
The 'work', routine etc.: Being with the family for two months, I really wouldn't consider this a job or that there was really any work involved - and that's a good thing! You're a part of a family and you go about your day as you would within your own family - you set the dining table, tidy up, take out the garbage, play with the kids etc. You don't really do too much housework as the family do have a cleaner that comes to the house several times a week.
You begin your day at 7.30am, up the stairs you go to set the breakfast table with plates, cutlrey, glasses, fruits, nuts, milk, cereal etc. Sometimes the kids want omlettes so be prepared to whip some up in a flash (I'm a terrible cook, so if I can do it then anybody can). You'll also unload the dishwasher from the previous night. Then be sure to get yourself something to eat and be ready to clean up, load the dishwasher, and put everything away once the family are finished with breakfast. The kids will get themselves ready for school with the help of Nat and Dani and then you're out of the house and walking to school around 8.45. The school's only 10 minutes away.
Between 9.00am and 4.15pm, you have your free time to explore. Hit up the beach, go for a hike, take a quck trip into Barcelona... You really do get a lot of free time whilst volunteering with this family. I found myself jogging, walking around the village and to the beach, soaking up the sun, swimming, and just generally enjoying myself day to day.
Quick tip: make sure to always, ALWAYS have your house keys on you at all times. Even if the front door is unlocked, you can only get back into the house with your key (unless the french doors are open, of course).
Then 4.15pm rolls around and you should be ready to pick up the kids from school. Walk with them back to the house and then be ready to play!
Now, the children - Max, Linus, Nico, and Mia - are what really make this workaway experience so magnificent. They are all so incredibly gifted, intelligent, polite, and adorable.
Max, the eldest, has a wonderful grasp of the English language. He really is a jack of all trades character - being great at everything he puts his mind to. Make sure you have the games PUBG and Fortnite downloaded onto your phone/tablet as Max, although only allowed to play at certain times, loves teaming up in these and going for the win(ner winner, chicken dinner)! Max also loves to play football, basketball, handball, table tennis, and board games. He's great to have a proper conversation with and he'll definitely make you laugh!
I observed Linus as a sensitive soul. Being a little bit of the middle child, he always wants some attention - though he never wanted it from me! I struggled with Linus as he likes to be left to his own devices and never really listened or responded to much that I said (I think partly due to his confidence with speaking English). If Linus needed me or wanted to play, I just let him come to me and then assisted from there. He likes to draw, play football, and play Fortnite. If it seems as though he doesn't like you all that much, don't take it personally!
Nico carinyo! The ever so adorable Nico - the champion of football, master of Nerf, and all around ball of energy - will keep you on your toes for hours! I absolutely adore Nico because he's always down to play a game of football. He's ever so competitive and is still coming to terms with the fact that he can't win EVERY game. Both Linus and Nico can be easily upset but they do calm down rather quickly once they've let off their steam. Nico never failed to make me laugh and he loves repeating sayings and rhymes spoken in English ('bananas in pyjamas' was a favourite).
Princess Mia. Ugh, she's just SO cute! A queen among her brothers, Mia never failed to make me cackle at the dinner table. I just find whatever she does and says to be hilarious and I love her for it. She's only 2 years old so she isn't much trouble at all. She enjoys playing with pretty much anything she can get her hands on. I'll definitely miss our little tea parties together.
When it came to playing with the kids, sometimes we'd all play football together, other times it could just be Nico and I. Sometimes Max and I would play PUBG whilst Linus and Nico did their own thing, etc. etc. You can't really play with all four kids at the same time, so just see who wants to do what, who's actually at home (as the kids do have extracurricular activities), and just go with the flow!
Oh and of course the kids do have their fair share of tantrums and arguments, but that's what kids do. All you need to survive is a lot of energy and a hell of a lot more patience.
And back to the routine! You'll sometimes help with setting the dinner table in the evening around 7.00/8.00pm. Once everyone's finished with dinner, clean up, load the dishwasher, sweep the floor, and maybe take the garbage out if the bins are full. It was never really expected of me to help the kids get ready for bed, so they usually bathed and got into their pyjamas with the help of Nat and Dani.
The weekends are yours to do whatever you like. If you're at home, there's a high chance that Max may seek you out to play a few games of PUBG or Nico may ask you to play football with him. I really love the boys, so I was happy to play with them during my free time. If I had plans, I just went and did my own thing which wasn't an issue at all.
Okay, I think I've rambled on enough now, so I'll just say a few final words.
I really cannot thank Natalia and Dani enough for this opportunity, for their hospitality, and for taking a chance on me. Natalia reached out to me when she was in desperate need of a workawayer and I was in desperate need of a placement. As this has been my first workaway experience, she really did take a chance on me and I am forever grateful. Although I felt slightly out of my depth within the first few weeks, Natalia was patient and understanding and I was quickly able to slip into a good routine.
Natalia and Dani are two incredibly hardworking parents who have crafted a beautiful home for their blossoming family. They are both ever so busy, but they always make time for their children no matter what. The love that this family holds for each other is so pure.
I'm ever so glad I've been able to live within Teià for an incredible two months. I'm going to miss Mia and the boys ever so much.
Natalia and Dani, thank you.
To any prospective Workawayers, I cannot encourage you enough to take up this grand opportunity with this smashing family.

Natalia and Danny are very welcoming people and they value family time above all else. I was always invited to dinners with extended family and to partake in cultural traditions (the festival of the 3 kings fell whilst I was staying with them). It was a pleasure to integrate on this level and experience real Catalan food, culture and hospitality. The boys are very energetic and love to play all sorts of different games (mainly sport but also creative arty projects). Max has exceptional language skills and will amaze you with his English conversation (even when he doesn't know a word he can always find a way to explain). Linus is very sweet and thoughtful; the drawing he did for me as a souvenir has found a place on my wall at uni! Nico is guaranteed to make you laugh and smile. We spent many hours playing football, handball and basketball and generally being silly. Above all, I relished the chance to forget my work and study back in the UK and just be youthful and have fun.
I was fortunate enough to have a pretty flexible schedule and as such, had adequate time to explore Barcelona and the surrounds. Thanks to Natalia and her connections, I was put in touch with some aupairs in the area and have made friends from around the world. If you get a chance to go to the Saturday night language exchanges in the city centre then embrace it; not only can you improve your Spanish but everyone there tends to be very friendly and outgoing.
I was well looked after with this family. You have a nice room in a lovely house with beautiful, mountainous surrounds and Natalia cooks delicioud, healthy food.
I would recommend going to Girona if you can, getting somewhere high (Tibidabo or Bunkers) to admire the city from above and trying to see as much Gaudi as possible! I am happy to answer any questions or provide tips :)

I spent almost 3 months with Nat, Dani, and the kids and had an amazing experience! They were extremely welcoming and made sure that I felt at home. The kids are the best - high energy for sure, but they clearly like hanging out with each other and come up with funny games to play. Barcelona is a half hour train ride in, so during the day or on

Paul was with us for more than 2,5 months and he was really incredible! He is a very nice, kind, interesting and funny person who helped us a lot. He was amazing with the kids, playing plenty of games with them and showing a loooooot of patience which is really necessary to deal with 3 little energetic boys. Also, he was always ready to help us

I have stayed with Daniel and Natalia for just over 2 months, and I can honestly recommend them as a fantastic host family. This has been my first Workaway experience, and they have set the bar very high. These are people who strongly value quality family time together, and they will invite you whenever they have reunions with the grandparents,

Daniel and Natalia are friendly and generous hosts, and they will help in any way to make you comfortable and welcome in their home. You will see just how much they love each other and their boys. The work and schedule you have is very reasonable, so you will never feel overwhelmed and you'll have time to explore and do as you like. The boys are really fun and silly kids, always inventing games and letting you join in. We like to all go to the park together, play basketball, draw pictures, play music, dance, wrestle, etc...they are all smart kids and have healthy imaginations.
The village here is very scenic with beautiful views of the mountain range that borders the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, all of which you can see very well from the house. There are many types of trees, plants, birds, modern homes, winding roads, open parks and trails that run up and around the mountains. The house sits up on the mountainside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and is less than a 10-minute walk from both the kids' school and the bus-stop that takes you to the train station with direct access to Barcelona (about a 25-minute ride by train to the center).
I am very greatful for this family. Because of them, I have made new friendships, I have tasted authentic Catalan dishes, I have gotten truly acquainted to Barcelona and other surrounding villages and cities, I have improved my Spanish, and they have even helped to bring my business project along through their advice and connections. Altogether, I could not have asked for more.
Please come meet this family, and enjoy Spain!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.
