    Descrição

We are Mickael and Marjorie a couple in our thirties from France (we met here in Quebec, working as dog sledding guides) and we are building our own house. (We're almost finished! interior finishing touches still need to be done.)
We are also parents to four adorable huskies and a cat!
We don't impose work on ourselves, and simply having someone with us to help us in exchange for a room and board would be a real plus! We would even be able to work in the village for a little extra income if needed.

What we are looking for this autumn is someone to help us prepare for the winter season—ideally someone who can handle evening meal preparations—as well as assist with readying the trails for dog runs, organizing and stacking firewood, building and dismantling shelters, tidying up the grounds, and helping with finishing touches inside the house.

Mickael is away about every other week because his daughter is in Quebec City, and he goes with her.
You would spend the majority of your time with Marjorie. Following numerous experiences through other volunteering platforms, we now want to become hosts! We love to go fishing and enjoy the outdoors so it's not every day that we go to work and if you want to enjoy outdoor activities with us, you are welcome.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

We both speak French mainly but there is no problem communicating in English and we would be happy to improve our skills as well as teach you French if that is something that interests you.
As French immigrants for more than 10 years, we still have some roots, but we have developed Quebec habits!! So if you want to discover what the mix gives, don't hesitate to ask us and we will show you the best of both! (or the worst too ahahha)
We can pass on to you all the knowledge we have developed since the beginning of construction, whether in logging, electricity, construction, also on the world of sled dogs etc.
We also each have skills we'd be happy to share with you!
Mickael is a welder, builder, part-time mechanic, accountant, baker... in short, a true Swiss Army knife!
Marjorie is an environmental guide, lumberjack, and tree climber. We're both dog sled guides and can talk at length about our experiences!

  • Ajuda

    Ajuda

The days would unfold in a fairly relaxed atmosphere, giving you plenty of freedom regarding your activities. We are looking for someone who loves dogs and would enjoy cuddling, brushing, or walking them—and who might also want to tend the garden or handle some light tasks (we own a stretch of forest, so there is plenty to do for anyone looking for projects!). We would love to share our knowledge with someone who is curious, eager to learn, and ready to lend a hand with daily tasks.
We built our house ourselves and need help with the final finishing touches. If you are considering a self-build project of your own, we can walk you through every step we took; you’ll be able to see the progress firsthand and join us for the final stages. Above all, we need someone to help with our day-to-day life who is also interested in learning more about self-building in Quebec or our forest lifestyle.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

We have Mickael's daughter's room available for guests when she is away.
We don't follow any special diet and like to get our eggs and meat from a neighboring farmer.
That said, we can accommodate specific dietary needs; however, we are big fans of barbecues and won't give them up just because you don't eat meat—though we fully respect everyone's choices and convictions!

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

We hope that having dog hair on your clothes and mud in your hair doesn't bother you because here, we live with nature and we don't worry about it!
If you've already done construction and you like to cook on top of that, you're our unicorn, hahaha!

We already had a scoolie for a year in the garden, a friend who came to stay in the courtyard, so we have the space, and if we need more privacy, we have a corner of the field a little further away available

Our 4dogs are super friendly and accept all friends. An old neutred and blind female, and 3 unneutered females. We would like to welcome animals with the same vibe, and having a cat. Obviously, we would like cat-friendly animals if possible, or otherwise, make sure to tie them up because the cat remains a cat and goes wherever it wants.
