  Hi, I’m Holger.
  I’m a 32 year old mechanical engineer and after having spent the past few years working for an energy company have decided to return home to the family farm. My brother Soren, who also returned to live here after having been based out of the US, and I plan to run this workaway together. We are based outside the small village of Collinstown in Co.Westmeath, Ireland.
  
  We would like to host multiple ‘workawayers’ at the same time with the goal of fostering a community. Over the years with the four of us siblings (we have another brother and a sister), our house has hosted many a gathering and we think that you’ll enjoy it and the natural surroundings of our farm just as much as we did growing up here.
  
  This workaway will be very broad in the types of jobs that we will be doing but that just means it will be all the more fun :). Currently for the Summer we are going to be working on our construction/rennovation work of a part of the house. So we are looking for people who want to gain some experiernce working on a consruction project. The work will take place on our lands surrounding the house. The house is fairly large and old dating back to 1730, with some recent renovations making it a very comfortable place to stay.
  
  On the land my mother has about 100 goats, but we also have some cattle, 2 donkeys, geese, chickens, and a couple of pigs. A large part of the land is left in its original state with trees growing all over the place making it a very beautiful landscape.

  Guests coming here will pick up some new skills here as there is plenty of opportunity to try new things. My brother and I have traveled and volunteered so we know what it takes to have the most fun and to meet the needs of our guests. We enjoy meeting people and sharing experiences with them. Our goal is that everyone involved benefits from the experience, so we will do our best to ensure that it is enjoyable for all.

  Ajuda

  The work will be varied, we try to make sure that it does not get boring. Don't worry about a lack of expertise. There are also some basic tasks - like cooking, cleaning, washing. You'll have two full days off per week. Food is included.
  
  The main tpye of work will be helping with construction/building tasks
  
  but there could also be some other jobs like:
  - General maintenance of the land
  - DIY/repair projects
  - Painting
  - Gardening
  
  
  The general idea of this workaway is get to know interesting people from around the world while also having fun working. Please let us know if you have any areas that you are experienced in (woodwork, painting, garden work) - we would love for the work to suit your interests and experience so that everyone has an enjoyable and rewarding time.

  Acomodação

  We hope to accommodate you in a private part of the house, with your own area to sleep and cook. The final setup will depend on the amount of volunteers at any given time. A working kitchen will be provided and stocked with food. The location is remote and peaceful but still only 90 minutes drive from Dublin. We have a sauna available for use that we built into a horsebox trailer. Creativity is very welcome and we also have a guitar. Laundry facilities will be provided.

  For the weekends people are encouraged to go out and explore the local area - we have some bikes available for use. We are about 20 minutes drive from Mullingar, which is the nearest larger town, and from which there are trains Dublin and to the West Coast. There is a really nice lake with very clean water near the local village for swimming. There's a lovely forest nearby with different walking paths. In the area there are also a few historic sights to see, these include some castle ruins, neolithic tombs on hills, and some castles with gardens. Due to our midland location and as Ireland is a small island you will have no problem exploring anywhere of interest during your visit.

  We have excellent wifi connection here at the farm. We can provide you with a desk and you would have all you need to work on other projects/communications after workaway hours, if that's something you're interested in!
