  We are running a tea plantation on the beautiful north coast of São Miguel, Azores – surrounded by the ocean, lush green hills, and endless opportunities for snorkeling, hiking, surfing and simply enjoying island life.
  
  Martin and I, we are living on the Island São Miguel since almost two year, from us, you could learn, how it is, to immigrate and settle to a new country, even living on an Island. Which can be sometimes different, as living on the mainland.
  
  Since 2020 we are rebuilding an old stone house near the Ocean - it is almost finished!!!! But there are still some things to do - which are mostly related to wood work. For us, it would be perfect, if you have already a lot of experiences working with wood.
  
  To do the job, we are offering a paid position!!!! Payment orients itself on the local minimum wage (€8/h), but can be more depending on your skill level and experience, and of course accommodation is part of the deal as well.
  
  For all the wood works, we want to set up a workshop, with all the tools you are going to need. If we find you as the one, how works with us, we would like to set up the workshop together.
  
  Just for you to have already an idea. These are the tasks they would need to be done:
  
  1. Building four inside doors: right now, we are living without any door :(
  2. Building two more outside doors/windows: two outside doors / windows are missing right now to have a fully protected house.
  3. Planing wood from the existing outside doors, that they are closing again: we painted the doors and now, they aren´t closing properly. We would like to have an expert to do this job - otherwise it could be crooked.
  4. Painting doors. The inside and outside need still the last finish. Therefore, we are using pigments and linseed oil. Gloria is an expert in it and would like to help you with this job.
  5. Building a kitchen island and shelves for the kitchen: our kitchen is not finished jet and we would like to do mainly everything with wood.
  
  If you see yourself working with us and helping us to finish the tasks on top, we would me more than happy :)
  
  The Accommodation is a shared house about 3 km from the plantation near Maia, where you’ll may live together with other volunteers (if there are somebody working on the plantations). The house has four private rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, a garden and a Terrassa at the rooftop, where you can see the sunrise and the sunset. :)
  
  
  The Workawayers will not be working at the Tea Plantation, but you can taste our amazing white tea :)

  Martin and I, we are living on the Island São Miguel since more than two year.
  From us, you could learn, how it is, to immigrate and settle to a new country, even living on an Island. Which can be sometimes different, as living on the mainland.
  We are speaking German and English fluent and still learning Portuguese. We would either love to have a language exchange with a native Portuguese speaker, or we can share our other language skills with you.
  We can share our social network with you, which is either contacted to other sustainable projects and to lovely people.

  What we are looking for somebody, with a good sense of responsibility and abilities, to keep the own space clean. Also somebody, with a lot of experiences in woodwork and a sense of dark humor.

  Pretty much everything you need, Washing Machine, Internet, Dishwasher etc..
  We have 3 bedrooms and one room where we could put another mattress/bed.

  There are a lot of hiking trails with waterfalls, beaches and beautiful nature around Maia and the nearby area for you to explore.
  The famous Tea Plantation Cha Gorreana is right around the corner.
  Furnas with its hots springs and lake are just a 20min drive away. In the same time you can reach Ribeira Grande if you like to surf.
  
  Most of the volunteers, which stood with us, recommended a car :)

  In our House in Maia we have a fibre connection and corresponding Wifi. We also have two Dogs, which are very lovely ;)
