Descrição
We are Ross and Cris, a gay couple from New Zealand and Brazil who recently moved to Spain. We are settling into our new home in Olivella, a beautiful, green and mountainous area near Sitges and just 40 minutes from Barcelona. The region is safe, quiet, surrounded by nature, yet close to the beach, vibrant towns like Sitges, Sant Pere de Ribes and Vilanova i la Geltrú, and of course all the cultural life of Barcelona.
Our home is spacious, with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a lovely garden that we want to make even more special. We are looking for a Workawayer who is gay or at least gay-friendly, since feeling comfortable and open at home is very important to us. We usually communicate in English, but Cris also speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
We would love help with general house maintenance and especially with gardening tasks: keeping things tidy, planting, pruning, and small improvements. Nothing requires professional experience, but it’s important to enjoy working with nature and contributing to a home environment. Around 20–25 hours per week is the right balance we are thinking of.
We are mainly looking for one person, but we are open to friends or couples applying. Age is not a restriction, though some tasks might require physical effort. More than just a volunteer, we hope to find someone who becomes a friend and even part of the family. We deeply value cultural exchange, language practice, sharing stories and experiences, and we love to support others in their own journeys. If you are considering building a future in Spain, we are happy to share our knowledge and help you with motivation, bureaucracy and practical advice.
We welcome people from all cultures, but we feel a special connection with Brazilians and Latin Americans, so you are especially encouraged to apply if that’s your background.
In exchange, we offer a very comfortable stay with plenty of space, meals together, and usually a private bathroom (unless we have guests, which we also enjoy). The atmosphere we want to create is one of mutual support, where your contribution helps us build our home, and our hospitality helps you grow, explore, and feel at home in Spain.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Our home is a peaceful and welcoming space where cultural exchange happens naturally every day. We are Ross and Cris, a gay couple from New Zealand and Brazil, and we love sharing daily life, stories and laughter with new friends. We speak mostly English at home, but Cris also speaks Portuguese and Spanish — and we always find a way to communicate, even if it’s through smiles or hand gestures!
Cooking and eating together is one of the most joyful parts of our day. We love preparing healthy meals with fresh, natural ingredients — salads, vegetables, fruits, herbs, seeds, lean meats, and homemade dishes full of color and flavor. Food here is a celebration of life, and our dining table is where many great conversations and friendships begin.
Our house is located in Olivella, a quiet, green, and safe area surrounded by nature, just 15 minutes from Sitges — one of the gay capitals of Spain — and close to Barcelona. While we enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, we also love exploring Sitges and Vilanova, going to the gym, discovering local restaurants, cultural events, or simply a sunny walk by the sea. Volunteers are always welcome to join us in these small adventures.
We believe in creating bonds that go beyond a simple stay. Our goal is to offer not just a room, but a sense of family, warmth, and encouragement. We love supporting others in their personal journeys, sharing knowledge about life in Spain, and helping them feel inspired and empowered to grow.Projetos que envolvem crianças

Yes! Language exchange is very welcome in our home. We usually speak English together, since it’s our common language, but Cris also speaks Portuguese and we are both learning Spanish. A Spanish-speaking Workawayer would be especially appreciated, as we’d love to improve our skills through daily conversation. Anyone interested in practicing English will also find plenty of opportunity here — we love good conversation, sharing expressions, and learning from one another with patience and respect. For us, communication goes far beyond words; it’s about connection, laughter, and curiosity for each other’s culture.Acomodação
Our home in Olivella is peaceful, spacious and surrounded by nature — the perfect place to slow down, breathe and enjoy simple, beautiful days. Volunteers will have their own private bedroom, comfortably furnished, and a private bathroom that might occasionally be shared if we have guests. Bedding, towels, and laundry facilities are provided (we have a washing machine and plenty of outdoor space to dry clothes).
The house has fiber-optic Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, and even a cozy fireplace in the living-dining area. We also have a large garden, pool, barbecue, and veranda, with several relaxing corners and comfy sofas — ideal for reading, writing, or just enjoying the silence.
We love cooking and eating together, and preparing meals is a social, collaborative moment in our home. We cook with natural, unprocessed ingredients, and volunteers are welcome to participate as much or as little as they wish.
The atmosphere here is calm, warm and family-like. We don’t smoke and prefer to keep the house quiet and peaceful, so loud music or parties wouldn’t fit our style. Cris is a classical harpist who practices daily — the sound is soft and melodic, and those who enjoy music might find it a delightful part of the day.
We believe in open communication and mutual respect. If any question or situation arises, we’ll always talk things through with kindness and understanding.Algo mais...
Our home is not just a place to stay — it’s a stepping stone. We imagine that some volunteers who come to us might be starting a new chapter in their lives, perhaps immigrating to Spain, looking for work, or simply searching for a safe and kind place to land while figuring out their next steps.
We know what that feels like. Both of us, Ross and Cris, have gone through the process of leaving our countries, our families, and everything familiar behind to build a new life here. We understand the mix of dreams, fears, uncertainty, and excitement that comes with starting over. That’s why we want to be more than hosts — we hope to be a supportive presence, almost like family, helping you navigate practical things (like Spanish bureaucracy!) and cheering for you as you move toward your goals.
We especially welcome Latin American Workawayers, as we share a natural cultural connection, but truly anyone with good energy, respect, transparency, and kindness will feel at home here. We are a gay couple who value openness, empathy, and authenticity — we offer the same in return.
Our wish is that your time here becomes something special: a peaceful, inspiring, and transformative moment that gives you strength and confidence to take your next steps — wherever life leads you after you leave our little corner of Olivella.Mais alguns detalhes

We’re flexible about schedules, as long as there’s good communication and balance between work and personal time.
