Our home is located in a rural mountain village in the spectacular Quirós Valley of Asturias. We accept people who like nature, good food and good company. The chores vary depending upon the season.
I am originally from Colorado in the USA and have been living in Spain for 27+ years. I am an avid skier, hiker, and world traveler. Juan Carlos is a classic Spaniard who loves to share the knowledge of history with our guests and workawayers. He's very passionate about food and wine.
During the spring, there will be garden preparation and planting, general exterior help. In the summer months, expect to be weeding and watering the gardens.
In the fall, it'll be harvest time and cleaning up the garden.
In the house, we prepare communal meals which we enjoy together.
Meal preparation and clean-up form part of this task.

You'll be able to practice Spanish and English while here. We love having help in the kitchen so plan to take a few recipes home with you. We often enjoy excursions to nearby villages or the beach and welcome our helpers to join us.

There are two places where our volunteers sleep. Depending on how many people are at our house, you may be sleeping in one of the bedrooms in the house or in a very spacious room that can accommodate up to 3 people in the main house.
We have WiFi so you should bring your own computer.
There are two guitars, a banjo and a piano at the hotel.
We have an international selection of DVDs and an extensive library of English books.
If you need to know anything about the Camino de Santiago, just ask, we've been leading groups along the Camino since 1995 through our other company
There is a local bus from Oviedo to Barzana de Quirós, near to where our hotel/retreat center is located.
From the hotel, there are numerous hiking trails, a long-distance biking trail (The Senda del Oso), other WorkAway hosts.
We host several yoga retreats a year led by international instructors.

We have good wifi at our retreat center. Since we ask 5 hours a day of light gardening help, there's plenty of time to do your own thing.
We have a large parking area but access can be difficult for large vans. Cars are fine and a standard van (9 passenger)
