I had a great stay at Aneks farm for two weeks in June! Anek is a kind, open and inspirational person. I learned a lot from him about gardening and sustainable living!
I worked in the yard and garden and did some weeding, planting and harvesting. I also prepared meals and did some housekeeping. I enjoyed the work and the good conversations I had
… read more with Anek during our shared meals. On the weekend he let me borrow his car for a sightseeing trip in the region Altmark. All the people around in the area were really kind – I always felt welcome.
This was a really great and inspirational experience; I totally recommend staying at this place!

Carina war hier in der 2. Junihälfte 2023. Das war für uns ,und besonders für mich eine sehr schöne Zeit. Denn man kann sich auf Carina wirklich 200%ig verlassen. Das merkt man aber auch schon nach 5 Minuten.

… read more erledigten Arbeiten im Garten, sogar noch ein super leckeres veganes Gericht auf dem Tisch stand. Das gibt es normalerweise nicht in meinem Leben.
Carina arbeitet flink, genau, mitdenkend und selbstständig entscheidend, soweit der Fall für sie klar liegt. Und , wenn der Fall nicht ganz klar ist, wartet sie und fragt. Besser geht es nicht. Aus eigener Initiative hat sie den extrem chaotischen Raum, wo ich immer die SoLaWi Kisten packe, super genau durchgekämmt und saubergemacht. Meine SoLaWi Teilnehmerinnen konnten ihren Augen nicht trauen bei dem Anblick. Leider konnte ich diese Heldentat nicht für mich reklamieren. Sie ist einfach absolut verlässlich und vernünftig. Ich hatte nicht die geringsten Bedenken ihr mein Auto für einen ausgedehnten Tagesausflug zu überlassen. Sie war für gut 2 Wochen hier und das war sehr schön für uns. 2 Monate wären aber auch nicht schlecht gewesen.
Carina vielen Dank für Deine exzellente Hilfe, für alle Gespräche und Deine gute, ausgeglichene Laune, von der man natürlich profitiert. Ich wünsche Dir alles Gute für Dein weiteres Leben .

But that is not all. He even agreed to a further step of responsibility , which I hardly dared to ask for. But , with my 2 children, I really could take part in a musical workshop, planned long ago in before, and during this family stay, he provided the young plants in the greenhouse and chopped wood for 1 winter season. (sent by angels or as an angel)

… read more went away for 5 days which meant I spend the majority of my time here by myself. Honestly this was also a little bit what I needed. Nonetheless it was great sharing conversations with him, playing table tennis, working together at his friend and getting to know some of his friends and I also really enjoyed talking English with his childeren.
I stayed in the yurt of his neighbour and really enjoyed my first experience in this kind of accomodation. Life here is simple, quiet and just not your average German experience. I am grateful to have witnessed a part of this country that the vast majority does not come to. I learned a few things about the region, about his views on life and way of gardening.

We went as a couple and stayed at the house in Spaningen, about 1 km from
… read more Biesenthal. This house belongs to Anek's brother. We were mostly alone at home. The place we stayed was comfortable with adequate facilities.
We would come to Anek's house in the mornings and get to work after breakfast. We couldn't work in the garden because the weather was cold. As a work, we made wallpaper for the house under renovation, cleaned and painted the walls. When the weather was nice, we also worked in the garden or weeded the front of the house. It was a pleasure talking to Anek. He was knowledgeable. He was keen to learn about the culture of the other person and was eager to convey his own culture. We talked about many things with Anek, such as literature, art, politics, geography and history. It was nice to hear about his experiences.
Biesenthal and Spaningen were calm, quiet and charming villages.
There is no wifi in the houses, it would be good to have your own internet.
In short, it was an experience we will miss.

I had a very great time with Mr. Anek. I helped him with gardening tasks. I stayed for 2 weeks. I also have a possibility to explore German village's cultural life and some historical things. Mr. Anek offered me some food and including vegetarian.

… read more quickly to the conditiones of this place. She is easygoing , alltime offering her help. Everyone, not only me and my 2 teenkids, really liked her. It is great what she cooks . Simple italian recipes, so super tasty and I wish I could do it in the same way.
If Sofia didn't understand a task completely, then she asks very exactly until she understands everything. She works with patience , without complaining. But if it is too heavy or if she notices, that things do not work out as they should
then she tells it. Sofia is a very gentle person and if she wants to be a guest here in future we dont have a long time to reflect about that. I spent three wonderful weeks here in Biesenthal. Anek is really kind, smart and funny. We could talk about different topics (politics, food, music, agriculture, climate change…). I did different works: picking up vegetables, cutting the grass, removing weeds, cleaning the garden, collecting wood, cooking and washing the dishes. I learned new things and I’m grateful for that.
The food was delicious and almost vegetarian. There’s always a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit coming from the garden. I loved his Rosinenbrötchen, Apfelkuchen, homemade bread, Brombeermarmelade and pancakes. Everything was really tasty. I enjoyed eating with him and with his beautiful family.
I lived in his brother’s apartment. The place is nice and quiet, but really remote. So, if it’s possible, I would suggest to come here by your own car, so you can go further in the weekend, also if it’s raining.
Don’t forget to bring with you some clothes and shoes appropriate for rain.

Biesenthal is located on the migration route of cranes. I had the chance to see flocks of cranes trying to migrate to warmer places and hear their famous voices for almost everyday. That was great! If you get there on time, you are one of the lucky ones.
I also had chance to visit Berlin when I was there.

He has two marvelous and smart children. I could listen the actual news from Anton, and saw how to be just easy-going and spontaneous from Alma. We had interesting and funny talks together but I could also be total honest with Anek. I could share my freaky thoughts and discuss some daily situations, which made me uncomfortable. I appreciate a lot and I’m grateful for his patience and attention. I was also very happy because I could use my German, they helped and encouraged me a lot.
The garden is beautiful with many different todo-s. I could see how to maintain a valuable “food source” and “rich area behind the house”. This was a paradise for me. This is a paradise indeed!
The meals were also very good and tasty and however I was stressed with cooking before, they were a thankful audience, I have now more courage in it. Also I learned very good and simple recipes!
They were all acceptable and openhearted and I’m very grateful that they let me take part in their family life.

The place has the perfect connection with the nature.

I stayed for 1 months and 3 weeks (July-August), everything was perfect. I was the first helper as a Workaway and he known how to manage it.
