  We are happy to welcome you and meet people from all over the world. We invite you to share your time, culture, and knowledge with our enthusiastic and passionate students. We are an Islamic boarding school — more commonly known in Indonesia as a Pondok Pesantren Modern. Located in West Java, we offer you a meaningful cultural experience deeply rooted in Islamic values, education, and local traditions.
  
  Here, you won’t just teach — you’ll also learn. Learn how students live, how we shape strong character and discipline through education, and how Islamic values are practiced in everyday life. You will be warmly welcomed into our close-knit school community consisting of students, teachers, and staff.

  Volunteer Activities
  Volunteers are welcome to support us in a variety of areas, such as teaching, language practice, art projects, gardening, eco-friendly initiatives, light maintenance, IT support, hospitality, and even helping with cooking or school media. These activities are flexible and based on your interests and strengths. If you have any ideas or would like to propose your own project, we’re happy to hear and support it!

  Location
  We are located in Kabupaten Sukabumi, West Java. You can easily find us on Google Maps . The school is approximately 3–4 hours inland from Jakarta by bus or train. The weather here is mostly cool and fresh year-round, with very little pollution and no tourist crowds.
  Once you arrive in Jakarta, our team will guide you step-by-step until you reach the school safely.
  
  How long can I stay?
  We recommend a minimum stay of 2–3 weeks to allow you to build deeper connections with students and the school. Longer stays are most welcome!
  
  A few things to keep in mind:
  🕌 We maintain a respectful, faith-based environment. Modest clothing is appreciated.
  🚭 No smoking, alcohol, or inappropriate behavior on campus.
  🕰️ Daily prayer times are part of the rhythm of life here, and volunteers are encouraged to be mindful of them.
  🗣️ English & Arabic are widely used among teachers and senior students, but feel free to learn some Bahasa Indonesia — we’ll help you!

  Come and taste incredible homemade daily buffets featuring all-you-can-eat traditional Indonesian food made by the best local chefs (3 meals a day provided). This is a real cultural immersion into the daily lives of 480 students and over 80 teachers. Meet and interact with locals and be immersed in their culture and religion. Everything will be provided for you. Sometimes we take trips to local waterfalls. The school is located in a beautiful forest with nearby hiking and rivers. Transportation is cheap, so on your days off, it's fun and easy to explore the local wonders.

  Ajuda

  We welcome teachers from many different language backgrounds, including Mandarin, English, Arabic, German, and more. No experience is required. Please come and have conversations with our students. They are more than happy to meet you and welcome you to our city in Sukabumi. Play games and have basic conversations. Our students are just learning these languages, so if you know any of them, you will be a huge help to our students!

  We teach German, Indonesian, Arabic, Japanese, English — and now also Chinese (Mandarin)! We welcome fluent speakers who can help our students improve their pronunciation, gain confidence in speaking, and practice real-life conversations. You don’t need to be a professional teacher — just someone who enjoys sharing language, culture, and positivity. Our goal is to expose students to authentic language use in a fun, relaxed setting. You can play games, lead simple dialogues, share stories, or just chat casually with the students. Professional teachers are absolutely welcome, but so are travelers and language lovers who are patient and kind-hearted. Let’s laugh, learn together, and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime cultural exchange in the peaceful heart of West Java!

  Acomodação

  Free dorm accommodation is provided. It's likely you'll stay with other volunteers. The weather is nice and cool most days. Sometimes it's hot, but a fan can be provided. The beds are soft and comfy. Towels and clean sheets will be prepared for you. Three incredible all-you-can-eat meals are provided.

  Come and play sports with the students. The school offers archery, guitar, chess, badminton, soccer, basketball, ping pong, and more.

  Working time is no more than 4 to 5 hours a day, usually in the morning, and often less than 4 hours. You will have plenty of time to work on a separate job or project. The internet is strong, fast, and stable. For the best internet, I recommend a Telkomsel SIM card, which offers a perfect internet solution. The data plan is cheap and works 99% of the time.
