Hey Workawayers :)
Update 23-2-2025
Since I have doubts about a future life in Slovenia I intend to travel and hike a lot more, thinking about Spain & Portugal in particular.
If some travellers like to join on a roadtrip feel free to contact me.
I am Michiel, I am Dutch and in 2019 I fell in love with Slovenia and all its nature.
I recently purchased the old house next to my present houde and I'd like to renovate it in old style.
Besides that I have bees, quite some chickens, 2 cats and a vegetable garden.
I've already finished multiple projects with previous Workawayers, like setting up a greenhouse and making a new fenced area for my chickens.
I try to take Workawayers on at least one hike or other trip per week :)
I do not eat meat but I have no problems with any diets that people like to follow.

I love hiking and playing boardgames and watching arthouse movies so this could all be included in your stay.
Hope to introduce you also to some dear friends I made in Slovenia.

None of the tasks are really hard or require technical skills.
In general, I will need your help with:
- gardening
- harvesting and processing vegetables
- minor renovations at the old house
I am very flexible when it comes to the working hours. It's also okay for Workawayers to work 2,5 full days, so that way you'll have the rest of the week off and you can explore the country and go on fun adventures. It's no problem for me to drive 15 minutes to drop you off somewhere. If you want to go further, you can either use public transport or try hitchhiking, which is very safe here in Slovenia!
I also work together with another Dutch couple. They own a B&B in the Slovenian hills. It's optional for Workawayers to work there as well for one or more days to experience a different area. Check out their profile here: ...

You have your own room, bed size is 160x200. Electricity is available in the room.
Ofcourse access to bathroom.
I offer a place to sleep, food and if you come in the end of September you can participate in the harvesting of grapes in my village. (It actual involves drinking a lot of wine).
I also offer free use of the washing machine.

If you would like to explore Slovenia in your days off, aside from me driving you, it could be useful to have a car.
I intend to do one hiking day per week. Usually I go to peaks around 2000 metres.

Ruby stayed 2 weeks at my place and I was positively amazed by her hands-on approach.
She turned some soil, I gave her responsibility and freedom of planting seeds on a new garden patch. She helped moving firewood and take care of the chickens. She doesn't mind some heavier work (at all).

They helped me putting glass in the greenhouse and help me putting up a big fence for my second chicken field. This involved mixing concrete and putting the poles level. Then fixing the wire to it.
