    Descrição

Our place is an historic farmhouse build in 1864, situated in beautiful surrounding with mixed land consisting of forrest, marsh, bogland and smaller open fields; we are also lucky enough to have several lakes, ponds and small freshwater streams - one of our lakes we also use for swimming.

We just moved here in June and we live and share the land with two other people, who have their own housing in and around the farm in a tiny house setup.

This year we started experimenting with no-dig farming and have setup a test "field" (not too big), to tryout the method as we plan to extend this practice onto larger areas in the pursuit of becoming self-sufficient with vegetables, herbs etc.

We are a family of four - two adults and two children:
    Father Michel: 44 years old
    Mother Laura: 27 years old
    Daugher Ella: 5 years old
    Son Elliot: 1 year old

We are all involved in the work around the farm and as we just moved here this summer, we have many ideas and plans we would like to develop further and carry out.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

We live in a very active local community with a lot of events happening in the nearby village, including weekly bbq during summer, music events, art and cultures events. Some of the events are free and others you have to pay for.
We live about 20 min. away from the 3rd largest city in Denmark and we often go to town to check out what's going on and enjoy the city vibes.

We like to go for hikes with the children on our own land and the surrounding recreational areas which is full of lakes everywhere. Workawayers can expect to be invited to participate in everything we are doing normally as a family here on the farm - this includes expeditions and trips, events etc. But also normal life on the farm where we spent most of our time outdoor when the weather allows for it.

We are a culturally mixed family as Laura is from Slovakia and Michel is from Denmark. We have both traveled extensively and have lived and worked abroad for shorter and longer periods. Michel has traveled as a Workawayer himself and knows what it means to travel this way.

We generally open our home and life to Workawayers and are willing to share our knowledge and our lifes and are ready to learn from any guests who comes to stay with us. We do have things that needs to be done on a daily basis, but the cultural experience is what everything evolves around.

Michel is a trained boatbuilder and has worked on historic wooden vessels and has strong carpentry skills and has tried many different things in life.

We have many things Workawayers can help out with and many things we will also be together. We can plan the stay to fit the wokawayers preferences.
Here is a list of things we can offer Workawayers to help out with:

Establishing new No-Dig fields for growning vegetables
Plant seed and plants in our field.
Look after crops and harvesting when needed.
Building projects: Swimming platform; Sauna; wooden fences and benches; Rabbit house for winter.
Maintenance work on the house: Painting windows and wooden structures on the house; building and mounting secondary windows (the house is old and the original windows have very thin glass, we therefore mount a second window on the inside during winter time, to keep the cold out).
Help around the house: Cooking, cleaning, helping out with the kids, teaching the kids English or another language. - We often cook outside over open fire.
Kultural exchanges - we hope to meet some wonderful new people with different cultural background and we invite you to share your culture with us through cooking, dancing, storytelling etc.
Other projects: Foresting - we forrest our own firewood and for that we need help cutting down the trees and processing the wood, so it is ready to go in the woodshed for drying.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

We have a very nice private spacious guest room.
If Workawayers are more into camping, we have plenty of land to camp on :-)
However we cannot provide a tent etc.
Regarding food, then the kitchen is open and you are welcome to help yourself to breakfast and lunch - dinner we agree upon and make it work for everyone. We cook dinner everyday (with few exceptions) and we would expect to share the chores with our guest. If we are going out - workawayers are free to cook in the kitchen. We strive to use what we grow for our meals and we are focused on not wasting food.
We also bake a lot and Laura is preparing and training for a baking competition. So there is plenty of opportunities to spend time in the kitchen. We eat healthy food but we are not vegan, vegetarian etc. and we cannot accommodate special dietary preferences - If you have allergies we will figure it out :-)

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

On your free time you are welcome to explore our land and go for hikes or spent the night outside. We have a dedicated bbq area with benches with cover to stay dry if it rain.
We have a small town just 4km away with shopping opportunities and a train station if you want to go for trips further away. The city is 20 min away by car and we often go and can easily give at ride to town once a while. We have bicycles you can borrow also - but they might need a bit of love before you go ;-)
There are plenty of things to explore in our region - just look up FYN or Odense and explore.
