Update - Place looking much better now with the help of lovely work away people. Jobs I am currently looking for would be to help with the animals, feeding and excercising dogs, feeding horses (sorry I cant offer riding) and cleaning paddocks. Helping out around the house a bit. If anyone was good at house painting that would be amazing!
The work with the animals is roughly 8.30 am to 12.00 and 5pm to 6.30pm something like that, so it gives some free time during the middle of the day
Hi, my name is Anna, and I live in a super special and beautiful part of the world in the unspoilt Western Algarve. I have a small farm with a few horses, and too many dogs, so an animal lover is pretty much a must!
I have recently split with my husband, and really need some help as there are not enough hours in the day right now. I run my own business from home and have a dog kennels offering holiday care and day care for dogs. I also have a few horses. I also have a 12 year old son, and sometimes I feel he is bottom of the list after all the animal care, it would be really good to have some help and be able to spend some more quality time with him, even the odd weekend away if I had the right person to hold the fort here and look after the animals.
I live in a small 3 bedroom farmhouse on a plot of 1 hectare. The whole place has been a bit neglected in recent years and could really do with a big tidy up, lots of the horse fencing needs fixing, and the house also needs painting in places. I am happy to take workawayers with different skills, maybe some prefer to help me tidy up the farm and do a bit of decorating, and others would prefer to concentrate on animal care, so please be direct and honest in what you would prefer to do?
I will list below the things I have in mind:-
Animal feeding and picking up horse manure and dog poo daily, playing with dogs and cleaning kennels.
Tidying up the farm, fixing fences, painting, a bit of gardening, removing clutter etc.
Helping with house chores and cleaning.
I cant promise any riding as I have a rider already for one of the horses, and the other on is a youngster.
Accomodation would be in a little caravan using bathroom and kitchen in the house with me and my son. We could all eat together. I also have a spare room (but no door), so maybe the caravan is more private.
I am a 15 mintue walk into the local village of Barao de Sao Joao, I also have a bus stop at the end of te.he road. Lagos is a 15 minute drive. I also have bicycles.
