  We (Peter (1970) and Marleen (1976), Daaf (2005), Emke (2008) and Steef (2010)) are living in our straw bale house in Schijndel. We are currently working on the development of the site, such as expanding the vegetable garden and creating a permaculture food forest. Peter is an arborist, but now works almost full time on the terrain. We have a veggygarden, wood stock, chickens, two cats, a bunch of pigs and an orchard. There is a piano, accordion (keys), bicycles, campfire area and a pizza oven. And an amazing hadpowered wood splitter.
  
  We built our straw bale house low cost and low tech. Low cost because we don't want a mortgage and low tech because we don't want to be dependent on technology and energy suppliers. Our log splitter (Ingmar), the Mallejan and so on are good examples of this. During construction I did not use a construction crane.
  
  We have a caravan that can sleep max. three people, we have tents for when it's a bit warmer and there is a comfortable room in the new house.
  
  We always have a lot of different things to do, mainly gardening, terrain maintenance, wood splitting and cooking. Usually you can choose what you like best, sometimes there is something that is really necessary. We like equivalency / sociocracy, so we'll figure it out anyway... :-)

  Wij (Peter (1970) en Marleen (1976), Daaf (2005), Emke (2008) en Steef (2010)) wonen in ons strobalenhuis in Schijndel. We zijn momenteel bezig met de ontwikkeling van het terrein, zoals het uitbreiden van de moestuin en het aanleggen van een permacultuurvoedselbos. Peter is boomverzorger, maar werkt nu bijna fulltime op het terrein. We hebben een moestuin, houtvoorraad, kippen, twee katten, een stel varkens en een boomgaard. Er is een piano, accordeon (toetsen), fietsen, kampvuurplaats en een pizzaoven. En een geweldige houtklover met een elektrische aandrijving.
  
  We hebben ons strobalenhuis low cost en low tech gebouwd. Low cost omdat we geen hypotheek willen en low tech omdat we niet afhankelijk willen zijn van technologie en energieleveranciers. Onze houtklover (Ingmar), de Mallejan en ga zo maar door zijn goede voorbeelden hiervan. Tijdens de bouw heb ik geen bouwkraan gebruikt.
  
  We hebben een caravan waar max. drie personen in kunnen slapen, we hebben tenten voor als het wat warmer is en er is een comfortabele kamer in het nieuwe huis.
  
  We hebben altijd veel verschillende dingen te doen, voornamelijk tuinieren, terreinonderhoud, hout kloven en koken. Meestal kun je kiezen wat je het leukst vindt, soms is er iets dat echt nodig is. We houden van gelijkwaardigheid / sociocratie, dus we komen er toch wel uit... :-)

  The house is almost finished, the terrain under construction. The vegetable garden needs almost infinite attention and we like eating good (and almost veggy) food.
  
  Het huis is bijna klaar, het terrein nog in ontwikkeling. De groentetuin heeft oneindige aandacht nodig, en we houden van lekker (bijna vegetarisch) eten.

  There is a caravan on site, we can always pitch a tent but there are also rooms in the new house ready enough to sleep in when it's cold outside.
  
  We do not eat strictly vegetarian: milk, eggs from our own chickens, meat from our own chickens (only a few times a year).

  Er is een caravan op het terrein, we kunnen altijd een tent neerzetten maar er zijn ook kamers in het nieuwe huis klaar genoeg om in te slapen als het koud is buiten.
  
  We eten niet strikt vegetarisch: melk, eieren van eigen kippen, vlees van eigen kippen (een paar keer per jaar).

  We live near Schijndel, between Eindhoven and 's Hertogenbosch. Bus 2/h to 's Hertogenbosch (20min) with main train station (Amsterdam 1h, Utrecht 0.5h). 's Hertogenbosch has a nice old town center with pubs / restaurants / museums. Eindhoven is famous as Design City. We can bring you there.
  200 meters north of our home is a large (well, for the Dutch...) forest. The environment is nice to bike: forest, meadows, villages with windmills and lots of mais of course. We have bikes and a bike trip map.
