Descrição
Welcome to our a regenerative farming and living space nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Lebanon and one of the oldest organic farms in the country. Our project is dedicated to reconnecting people with nature through ecological farming, ecological living and community exchange.
We are creating a space where land, people, and purpose come together — a place rooted in the earth yet open to the heavens.
The People:
The farm is both a working agricultural space and a living experiment in sustainability, resilience, and community. The land has been a family-run farm since the early 1970s and was turned pesticide and fertiliser free in 2014, one of the first farms to do so in Lebanon at the time.
It is home to three generations of a family native to the lands of the valley. The first generation, Said and his wife, are still living at the farm while Raed, his wife and three children, who began the ecological farming project, are now based in France.
Currently the farm is taken care of by Charbel, an agro-ecological farmer from the other side of the valley, and an extended family of brothers and sisters from Idlib, Syria.
Location & Agriculture:
Our farm sits at 1,040 meters altitude in the beautiful Nahr Ibrahim valley, surrounded by mountains and forests.
The main terraces around the house include:
• Tree orchards (apples, cherries)
• Seasonal vegetables (cabbages, tomatoes, aubergine, pumpkin, beans, salads etc.) and fruits (mulberries, kiwis, kaki, blackberries, strawberries etc.)
We also cultivate:
• A second apple orchard at 1,400 meters altitude
• A small vineyard, where grapes are sold to a Lebanese winery
There are chicken, geese, ducks and turkeys, a dog and a family of cats living at the farm with us.
The diversity of crops allows us to produce fresh food, homemade products, and traditional Lebanese mouneh (preserved foods) which we sell at farmers markets and via basket home deliveries.
Our Farming Philosophy:
We farm using organic methods, meaning no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Our long-term vision is to transition the entire property into a fully regenerative permaculture system. We build using natural and recycled materials - some of the houses are eco buildings - plant using local heirloom seeds, and work to increase biodiversity in our land. We integrate biodynamic principles, working with the rhythms of nature and aiming to restore soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem balance.
This is not simply a farm — it is a family story, a land legacy, and an evolving ecological vision rooted in tradition and open to the future.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
The farm and the life style that it provides is quite unique in the country, and perhaps even in the world. We're all interested in social innovation, permaculture, arts and music and we like to exchange knowledge and cultural wisdom. We are part of a wider community of agroecological farmers in Lebanon that are working towards reconnecting to the land, gaining food sovereignty and reviving a sense of community and togetherness in the country. Spread all over the country, every single one of them will be happy to host you for a visit and share their knowledge and experiences - going far beyond farming, but towards recreating what it means to be connected to the land and each other.
We genuinely enjoy sharing our knowledge of the lands as well as of our passion for regenerative farming - be sure to leave with a basket full of new ideas and perhaps even ways of seeing the world.
Ajuda
Volunteers may help with:
• Vegetable gardening (seeding, weeding, planting, preparing plots), seasonal harvests & orchard care
• Mulching, planting aromatics to attract pest predators, companion planting to enhance biodiversity, cover cropping and soil regeneration practices
• Food preparation & mouneh production i.e. making natural wine, dried tomatoes and fruits, tomato sauce, jam, distilling sage and rose water, pressing apple juice
• Developing outdoor regenerative living spaces
• Vineyard work (in autumn and winter)
Who We’re Looking For:
People who:
• Love nature and simple living
• Are proactive and adaptable
• Appreciate simple, rural living
• Are curious to learn about organic farming and permaculture
No prior experience in farming is needed - just motivation, respect for nature, and openness to learning. We genuinely enjoy sharing our knowledge with you. However, any skills such as craftsmanship, eco-building, arts or music are deeply appreciated.
During free time you can go to Beirut, Tripoli, to the sea (all around 1 hour away from the farm), visit other farming projects that are part of our Lebanese agroecological community (called SILA), or have a hike in the scenic area, there’s a biosphere reserve with stunning forests just next door or simply discover the rest of the country at your pleasing.

We are all fluent in Arabic, and as customary in Lebanon most of us are fluent in English and French. We are happy to exchange languages as desired.
Acomodação
You will be accommodated in either single or double rooms with attached private bathrooms. The outdoor kitchen and communal spaces are shared and mainly outdoors. Tenting spaces are also available.
We are currently setting up our two outdoor huts with solar shower and compost toilets again. We will be happy to have a helping hand there.
We cook and have meals together, which are prepared with the organic products from the farm. Meals will mostly be vegetarian. You can eat and use the fruits and vegetables from the garden, as well as the vinegar, juices, tomato sauces etc. that we produce. There's a pizza oven and a Tannour (a traditional lebanese oven for making bread) available. A village shop is located at walking distance where you can buy most things you may need and for larger needs Beirut, which we will visit weekly for the farmers market, has everything else one may be accustomed to in the West.
Algo mais...
If you would like to get a glimpse of the ways of our farm, this is a documentary done a few years ago, when Raed and his wife were still living at the farm:
YouTube - ask us for the name of our channel
Another documentary, done more recently, in 2025, by a local newspaper, gives some more glimpses and will be shared here soon.

We stayed here for two weeks and our experience had both positive and negative aspects. When we came, we were the 2nd or 3rd group to use the new setup for volunteers in a separated area under their house. This was a surprise given the comments of prior volunteers but understandable given their situation. This makes quite a different… read more
