We are a young and dynamic couple, Olympia and Pavlos, who decided to come back to our family land to work as farmers in Agios Nikolaos, a small and remote beautiful village at the footstep of Mount Taygetos in Mani, Lakonia, 20km from Gytheio. We have one wonderful little boy, Nikos, who is almost 2 years old, and another one on the road!
We are looking for people to help us with the different farming works that we have here and with babysitting Nikos whenever we need. But most importantly, we want to bring people from all over the world to our village and share with them special time, learning about our region and our way of living. Mani is a beautiful place, full of History, you will always be welcome as a part of the large family that we are.
We are farmers from father to sons. We have olive groves from which we are making olive oil and table olives, we also have bee hives and make our own honey and animals such as chickens and sheeps from which we produce our own feta cheese.
We are also producing our own wine!
If you love nature, mountain and learning about another way of living afar from the cities, if you enjoy long conversations around local products and good wine, you will have a lot of fun here!

The volunteers here will enjoy a great time not only with us but with the people from the village and the villages around, we are a large family and we want new incomers to feel at home and bring us all kind of knowledge from all over the world
You will have the opportunity to get closer to nature and an economy based on the old ways
You will also enjoy our local products made by friends, discover Greek traditional cuisine and ways of drinking!
Most of all, you will have new friends during and after your journey here

Those are the types of jobs you might encounter depending on the seasons (please note that we don't have a program or a schedule, we are depending a lot on the weather and what the day brings us) : harvesting, pruning, picking olives, opening paths for hikers, building, taking care of the chickens and the sheeps and taking care of our son Nikos.

Acomodação
The volunteers will stay in our small hostel that is close outside of summer. You will have a room with a personal bathroom and kitchen that you might be sharing with two of three people depending on the number of volunteers.
We will cook for you with our local product, but as we don't have a schedule, if you wish to eat at another time you will have the opportunity to do so in your personal space. You will have all the basics, and more if you need, no need to buy food we have a lot here!
As for transportation, we also have a car. We can get you or drop you in the nearest cities, Gytheio or Sparti.

Agios Nikolaos is a remote and small village, you will not find the nightlife of the cities, but you will have the opportunity to spend some quality time at our local taverna and Cafe with the people from the village where we all meet to enjoy some drinks and talk politics
You will also have the opportunity to hike, walk or bike in the area
If the weather is good we can bring you to the beach in Gytheio or at the river near our olive groves for the bravest
If we have time, we will take you to a field trip to discover our beautiful region Mani.

They were always willing for every task we gave them and they were smiling all the time.
We had a wonderful time together.
Our little son loved them.
We definitely recommend everybody to host them.
Pavlos, Olympia, Stelios and the grandparents welcomed us and made us discover the Greek countryside and all these pleasures.
