I've stayed a month in Kampanos with mostly Nufris (and from time to time Lotte and Eva). First of all, the communication to arrive was super great and Ioanna was at the top to answer my messages and help me to reach out with Nufris who even picked me up in Chania !
The studio and the house are in a beautiful place and all the Cretan's mountains
… read more around are some of the most perfect landscapes I've ever saw. If you love to hike and discover Nufris and Lotte will always give you good advices and show you the surroundings you must see. From time to tim we went to the beach in Sougia, by car with Nufris, also a very beautiful beach. All the nature here is what I would call a peak of beauty.
Nufris and Lotte were super accommodating for the life with them, always asking if we needed or wanted something specific, to eat for exemple. The room where I lived is great, spacious, cosy, a bit outside the house. The house itself is in the same mood, and what's best than a cosy kitchen with a fire in the fireplace during the "cold" night of winter. We used to cook together, sometimes someone would take the lead, like Nufris who cooked us some great typical dishes (I'm still craving those octopus pasta and the traditional soup). Life here is quiet, calm, free and most of all soothing. I was really happy to be there for a time.
For the work, we spend half the time in the studio, working in the ceramics, doing many different tasks and I'm super thankful that I could learn all these things. Nufris showed us many part of the process and let us free to experiment our own project in the studio (I say "us" cause we were two workawayers at that time). The other half of the work was in the fields to harvest olives, with Lotte (THE BEST) and to prune the vineyard of the family. I was really happy to have those two types of activities, the field work and the ceramic one (also because I was coming from another workaway where I was harvesting the olives and I would have missed it). Usually a day of work is from 8:30 to 3:00, with no massive break but with a chill rythme, like Nufris would say "Slowly Slowly". After the hours of work we do a big lunch that we cook together and then it's free time.
During the evenings we used to discover some nice documentaries with Nufris or to play some games or just read next to the fireplace.
I've loved my stay there and I know I will come back one day in this part of Crete. Was a pleasure to experienced it and I wish all the good luck to the studio and the other projects (Keep us aware for the massive one !) Thank you for the welcoming that was always great !Feito pelo anfitrião para o Workawayer (Charlie)

I spent great two months here! I was able to explore many areas of Crete on the weekends, and the house was a comfortable and relaxing place to unwind during the week.
Most people stayed one month, but I really recommend staying for at least 6 weeks, because it takes awhile to explore Crete, learn the ways of the workshop, and finish any of your

The host, Noufris, is from an older Greek generation and has tons of knowledge and culture to share (plus he took us to see how raki and olive oil is made!). He often brings the Workawayers to the local beach in Sougia, and sometimes even helps with personal ceramics projects. He recommended that I join a local hiking group, which was a great experience -- I did an overnight hiking trip with them, and met many locals.
It's remote, being ~1.5 hours away from the main city of Chania, but it's well connected and peaceful. There's regular busses that can bring you to Chania and beyond on the weekends.

What an incredible experience I had here! My 4th Workaway and I could not recommend it more. I spent just over a month living and working at the ceramics workshop, set in the beautiful, tranquil mountains of Crete. There are olive groves nearby and grape vines overhead, which when ready to harvest in September are made into wine.
The ceramics
… read more workshop is beautiful, authentic and family-centred, and the work is interesting and meditative. Most of the work was preparing the ceramic pieces to be fired, so sanding them down with sandpaper to remove harsh edges after they come out of the moulds, and then washing them to smooth the surfaces and remove any remaining bumpy bits. Near the end of my stay, I also learnt how to fill the moulds with liquid clay, so had the chance to actually make plates, mugs, and bowls. Everything is hand-made, so the beauty of the business is that no two pieces are alike, and everything is totally unique. It's so beautiful to have the chance to be part of such an incredible process, and to know that you contributed to making art.
The family are the most welcoming and kind, giving us absolutely everything we could possibly need, and were so wonderful in opening up their fabulous home for us. They live a beautiful, authentic Greek lifestyle, focusing on the small pleasures in life, surrounding themselves in nature, and taking each moment as it comes, and it was so special being a part of it.
A massive thank you to Noufris, Lotte, Ioanna and Eva for welcoming me, teaching me a new skill, and sharing their culture!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I was also lucky enough to meet the whole family, who welcomed us warmly and openly. Ioanna not only introduced us to the work in the studio, but also cooked wonderful meals for us and showed us the most beautiful hikes and restaurants around Chania and Sougia.
During my stay, I shared a room with two other helpers from England and Ireland, with whom I got on really well. We cooked lunch and dinner together, worked on our own projects in the studio and did trips and hikes in our freetime.
I really enjoyed spending 3 weeks at this special place and would like to thank Noufris, Lotte, Ioanna and Eva very much for everything!
Hopefully I'll see you again next year :)

We spent 5 weeks in the studio and we are very happy with the experience. We didn't really have that many expecations before going but greatly appreciated the relaxed atmosphere around the house and in the studio. We got to see and learn about the ceramics process and the two girls who worked there were very kind and happy to show us how it was done.. We had free access to the kitchen which was always well filled, laundry etc. so it all went really smooth. During the weekdays we worked from around 8.30 - 14 and then we had a meal altogether whoch turned out to be the time for many interesting conversations. We quite often took the bus to Sougia (the most beautiful beach, Lissos too) after lunch and luckily there was a bus at that time to take us. Both of us being used to the city, we were surprised to learn that there were only four buses a day but fortunately the timetable suited us quite well and then Noufris was also generous in taking us places/picking us up. We spent the weekends exploring Crete and it was nice to see some more of the island, and we realised at the end that there was so much more to explore closer to the village and Sougia - so do take some time to explosre the south west coast if you go :). Definitely recommend!
Thank you so much Noufris, Lotte and Eva

He’s very kind and has an open heart and loves to discuss about thoughtful and intriguing subjects. He makes his pottery with a mold, so it’s quite different from the pottery wheel you would imagine. He’s looking for people who are interested in helping out for a few months, so if you’re interested in learning about pottery, contact Noufri.
