Detalhes
Descrição
We used to be a small retreat center/ashram, inspired to become a sustainable community. We are completely off-grid, and with our beautiful views and quietness from the surrounding mountains, it would allow guests, retreat participants, and volunteers lots of silence.
These days, things are quiet here. With just myself, my wife, and my toddler, we are in the process of attempting to steward our huge piece of property. So, if you like solitude and quietude then come out, we love to meet new people.
We are 108 km north of Terrace, BC, in the sacred Nass Valley, home to the First Nations people, the Nisga's, and have our homestead on 103 acres, far from city life, and running from mostly solar power and some generator power, with a gravity-fed water system, garden, which is a work in progress towards a community of sustainability.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Ajuda
We have been inviting volunteers to come to contribute to our ashram and stay at our place since 2009. We would like volunteers to stay a minimum of one month. Volunteers can stay for the entire 6-month season-- however, we strongly advise people to come and "test the waters" before deciding on making a long-term commitment for stays of multiple months.
We harvest a lot from the surrounding old-growth forests and our land. Simple vegetarian and vegan meals will be served, using our garden vegetables when possible.
Ideally, we are looking for two people:
1. Help with babysitting our toddler, and cooking and cleaning
2. Outside help, digging, cutting and trimming grass, and doing odd jobs. Helping out Thomas repair and renovate.Idiomas

Algo mais...
To Pack:
Tarp (if you would like extra rain protection)
Biodegradable soap, and shampoo
Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Flashlight (headlamp) with extra batteries
Work clothes, and work boots (waterproof) if working the outdoor position
Volunteering (karma yoga/Seva) is 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, at most, and volunteers mostly get weekends Mondays, and Tuesdays off.
When visiting the Ashram it is best to take this time to be in nature, to be with ourselves. It's a great opportunity to remove oneself from the outside world and focus on the inner being. We only go into town every Tuesday and Wednesday, and pick-up is on Wednesdays at noon.Mais alguns detalhes

Joanna is a really hard working and multi-talented woman. We loved having her here and she spear-headed a range of projects in a variety of areas all with ease and style.
She is a joy to be around and has a great humility and sweet heart. We would be happy to have her back any time!
The highlights: Not sure where on earth you will find purer land. The fresh air and sweet water you can drink right from the stream are… read more
