    Welcome to a small dog rescue with a big heart in the beautiful forests of Swedish Lapland.

    My name is Stefanie, and I am originally from Switzerland. I am a certified dog trainer and have been educating future dog trainers and dog professionals since 2013 through my training centre. My passion has always been helping people better understand dogs and improving the lives of both.

    In 2024, I moved to Swedish Lapland to fulfil a lifelong dream: creating a rescue where dogs are not just housed, but truly understood.

    We give abandoned, neglected and misunderstood dogs a second chance. Many of our dogs come from difficult backgrounds. Some arrive from shelters abroad, others from Swedish authorities or private owners who can no longer care for them. Every dog receives an individual rehabilitation plan based on modern behavioural science, patience and fairness.

    Our rescue is located on a peaceful property surrounded by forests and nature. The dogs enjoy spacious exercise areas, daily walks, enrichment activities and plenty of individual attention. We believe every dog deserves to feel safe, respected and understood.

    As a volunteer, you become part of our everyday life. This is not a commercial kennel or simply a place to cuddle dogs. You will gain real insight into rescue work, canine behaviour, dog handling and rehabilitation. Every day is different, and every dog has their own story.

    In return, you will experience life in Swedish Lapland, work closely with amazing dogs and become part of a small international team that shares one goal: giving every dog the opportunity for a better future.

    If you are open-minded, reliable, willing to learn and ready to experience authentic rescue work, we would love to welcome you.

    Living with us means experiencing authentic life in Swedish Lapland, far away from mass tourism.

    My partner is Swedish, and together we enjoy sharing our everyday life, local traditions and northern culture with our volunteers. Whenever possible, we cook together using regional ingredients. This may include moose from local hunters or reindeer meat from our Sami friends, as well as a traditional Swedish fika.

    Our home is surrounded by untouched nature, with no close neighbours. In winter, you may experience the Northern Lights and a magical snowy landscape, while summer brings the Midnight Sun. The forests, lakes and wildlife of Lapland are right outside our door, and there are many beautiful places to explore in the region on your days off.

    As a certified dog trainer and the founder of a dog training academy in Switzerland, I have been educating future dog trainers and dog professionals since 2013. Sharing knowledge is one of my greatest passions.

    During your stay, you will gain valuable insight into dog behaviour, rescue work and fair, modern dog training. My main focus is helping people understand the language of dogs. You will learn to recognise body language, stress signals and communication, observe real rehabilitation cases and develop a deeper understanding of why dogs behave the way they do.

    We hope our volunteers become part of our daily life, not just our work. We enjoy exchanging stories, learning about different cultures and creating friendships that last beyond the stay.

  • Ajuda

    Ajuda

    We are looking for motivated, reliable and animal-loving volunteers who would like to become part of our daily rescue work.

    Previous dog experience is required.
    Our rescue cares for dogs with very different backgrounds, including fearful, insecure and behaviourally challenging dogs. Therefore, you must already feel confident handling dogs and be able to read basic canine body language. You do not need to be a professional dog trainer, but experience with dogs is essential.

    Your tasks may include:

    * Walking and exercising dogs
    * Feeding and providing fresh water
    * Cleaning kennels, dog houses and equipment
    * Preparing enrichment activities and toys
    * Helping with socialisation and basic training
    * Observing canine behaviour and reporting changes
    * Grooming and general dog care
    * Assisting with daily maintenance around the rescue
    * Keeping the rescue clean and organised

    Every day is different. Some days are calm and filled with long walks, while others are busy with new arrivals, veterinary visits or rehabilitation work.

    You should enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, be physically fit and willing to learn. Reliability, patience and a calm attitude are essential when working with our dogs.

    In return, you will gain valuable practical experience in dog behaviour, rescue work and modern dog handling while living in the unique surroundings of Swedish Lapland.

    We ask volunteers to stay for a minimum of three weeks so both you and the dogs have enough time to build trust and become part of the daily routine.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

    Volunteers stay in their own private studio apartment, giving them a comfortable space to relax after a day at the rescue.

    The studio includes:

    * A private bathroom with a shower
    * A fully equipped kitchen
    * A comfortable sleeping area
    * Wi-Fi

    Basic food and groceries are provided throughout your stay. We also enjoy having lunch together whenever possible, making it a great opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and enjoy each other's company.

    To help you explore the area, we also provide a car for your use during your free time (by arrangement), making it easy to discover the beautiful surroundings of Swedish Lapland.

    We want our volunteers to feel at home and enjoy both their work with the dogs and their time off in this unique part of Sweden.

    Algo mais...

    A few additional things that may be helpful to know before applying:

    * We are located in a quiet rural area of Swedish Lapland, so enjoying nature and a peaceful lifestyle is important.
    * A driving licence is highly appreciated, although not always essential.
    * Winter temperatures can drop below *-30°C, while summers offer long, bright days under the Midnight Sun.
    * We ask volunteers to be respectful, reliable and open-minded. Good communication and teamwork are very important to us.
    * Smoking is only permitted outdoors.
    * Because we work with rescue dogs, safety always comes first. Volunteers are expected to follow instructions and handling guidelines at all times.
    * We welcome people who genuinely want to learn, contribute and become part of our daily life—not just travellers looking for free accommodation.

    If you love dogs, nature and meaningful experiences, and you're not afraid of a little adventure, we would be happy to welcome you.
