The property is located in the heart of Aspromonte, one of the wildest and most fascinating areas of Southern Italy: silent mountains, fragrant forests, centuries-old olive groves, and a culture that still lives through genuine traditions.
  
  Today, with my children living far away, I have decided to open this place to travelers who wish to contribute to its care and revival. It is a place that needs loving hands, fresh ideas, and people who can appreciate the simple beauty of rural life.

  Questa proprietà appartiene alla mia famiglia da generazioni. È un luogo ricco di storia, dove ulivi e alberi da frutto crescono da sempre e dove la terra ha ancora molto da offrire.

La proprietà si trova nel cuore dell’Aspromonte, una delle zone più selvagge e affascinanti del Sud Italia: montagne silenziose, boschi profumati, uliveti secolari e una cultura che vive ancora di tradizioni genuine.
  
  Oggi, con i miei figli ormai lontani, ho deciso di aprirla a viaggiatori che desiderano contribuire alla sua cura e alla sua rinascita. È un luogo che chiede mani amorevoli, idee fresche e persone che sappiano apprezzare la bellezza semplice della vita rurale.

  We are working on the redevelopment of an olive grove where oil is produced. An ideal place where people can find time to work and be involved in a project that will grow. There can always be a cultural exchange, you will learn about food, land and dreams. We also have some of the most wonderful treks in this area. As an individual(s) we encourage people to use their free time well. Take advantage and be proactive in getting to know the area. The locals here are rich in history, everyone has a story. Sit at the bar with the guys… go to a church service and feel what faith means here to us and of course get lost in the little alleyways. (roads). JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER, are the time to embrace the festivities in Aspromonte and its surroundings. YOUR IMAGINATION IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL LIMIT YOU Here in Aspromonte we are immersed in nature and the project is redeveloping a beautiful part where olive oil is produced. The area is quiet and is a great place for people to find time to work on themselves and watch the project grow. You can also work on your own projects and share your skills, language and/or culture. I speak Italian and Calabrian, there can always be a cultural exchange, you will learn about food, the land and dreams.
  
  I admit that hosting people who don’t speak Italian makes me a bit nervous, but I deeply believe in the value of meeting others. We can learn a lot from one another: you bring your culture, and I will share the story of this land and show you what life in Aspromonte is truly like.

  Stiamo lavorando alla riqualificazione di un uliveto dove si produce olio. Un luogo ideale in cui le persone possono trovare tempo per lavorare ed essere coinvolte in un progetto che crescerà. Può sempre esserci uno scambio culturale, imparerai a conoscere il cibo, la terra e i sogni.
  
  Abbiamo anche alcuni dei trekking più meravigliosi in questa zona. Come individuo/i incoraggiamo le persone a utilizzare bene il proprio tempo libero. Approfitta e sii pro attivo per conoscere la zona.
  
  La gente del posto qui è ricca di storia, ognuno ha una storia. Siediti al bar con i ragazzi… vai a una funzione religiosa e senti cosa significa la fede qui per noi e ovviamente perditi nella piccola vicoletti. (strade).
  
  LUGLIO AGOSTO E SETTEMBRE, sono il momento per abbracciare le feste in Aspromonte e dintorni.

  Qui in Aspromonte siamo immersi nella natura e il progetto sta riqualificando una bellissima parte dove viene prodotto l'olio d'oliva. La zona è tranquilla ed è un ottimo posto dove le persone possono trovare il tempo per lavorare su se stessi e assistere alla crescita del progetto.
  
  Puoi anche lavorare ai tuoi progetti e condividere le tue abilità, lingua e/o cultura.
  
  Parlo italiano e calabrese, ci potrà essere sempre un scambio culturale, imparerai a conoscere il cibo, la terra e i sogni.
  
  
  Ammetto che ospitare persone che non parlano italiano mi mette un po’ in soggezione, ma credo profondamente nel valore dell’incontro. Possiamo imparare molto gli uni dagli altri: voi portate la vostra cultura, io vi racconto la storia di questa terra e vi mostro come si vive davvero in Aspromonte.

  Activities for those who love to “get their hands dirty”
  - Care of the vegetable garden and shared garden

  - Maintenance of olive trees and fruit trees 
  - Improvements to the outdoor bathroom (toilet/shower) 
  - Small maintenance tasks and space organization 
  - Creative projects related to nature and sustainability 
  
  
  Depending on when you come you will be able to experience different aspects of what happens in this hidden village in the Aspromonte.
  
  I am currently looking for long term stays. (short term will obviously be considered)
  the duration is at least 3-4 weeks. (long term)
  Couples, singles and even families are welcome.
  
  Olive groves and oil, usually October to February (clearing the land all year round) - this is manual work so outdoor clothing and boots are needed as warm/humid weather gear
  
  Help with turning a small outdoor area into a green and possibly edible garden - hopefully completed or started once the fencing is done (sheep love vegetables)
  
  Someone creative with an extension to an unfinished house
  
  Building with recycled materials - this requires creativity and incentives
  
  Please note that you will need outdoor gear and of course if you can bring work gloves so you have a pair (if possible)
  
  A typical day will look something like this:
  Breakfast in the morning before 8am
  Working day starts at around 8am (working for around 5 hours)
  Lunch (together/usually) at. 1:30 FREE DAY NO
  In the afternoon you choose to continue working or you are free
  Dinner between 7:30 and 8:00 pm (together) FREE DAY NO
  DUE TO THE WEATHER WE ASK YOU TO KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU ARE WORKING OUTDOORS.
  
  We help together with cleaning and maintenance of the communal areas. So the understanding is that everyone pitches in to help.
  You have two days off - could be two days together or separate - we also ask that this is flexible depending on what we have going on. 5 out of 2 days off. (we suggest, due to no buses on SUNDAY, that you work this day and take your days off overnight, after your days and schedules are completed)
  
  There are times when you can work independently on a project once you feel comfortable and can work at your own pace to complete it.
  SOMETIMES: We work in the afternoon and ask our volunteers to be flexible.
  
  WHAT WE ASK IS THAT VOLUNTEERS NOT CAUSE US ANY MORE WORK. IF YOU FEEL THIS IS GOING TO BE A FREE VACATION... OR AN OVERNIGHT STOPPING... THEN DO NOT CONTACT US. WE HAVE ENOUGH TO DO WITHOUT HAVING TO BABYSIT. I AM SURE YOU UNDERSTAND.

  - Progetti creativi legati alla natura e alla sostenibilità 
  Ogni stagione porta attività diverse: qui non ci si annoia mai.
  
  A seconda di quando verrai potrai sperimentare aspetti diversi di ciò che accade in questo paesino nascosto nell'Aspromonte.
  
  Al momento cerco soggiorni a lungo termine. (ovviamente sarà considerato il breve termine)
  la durata è di almeno 3 settimane.
  Coppie, singoli e anche famiglie sono i benvenuti.
  
  
  Gli uliveti e l'olio, normalmente da ottobre a febbraio (pulizia del terreno tutto l'anno): è un lavoro manuale, quindi sono necessari abbigliamento da esterno e stivali come attrezzatura per il clima caldo/umido
  
  Assistenza per trasformare una piccola area esterna in un giardino verde e possibilmente commestibile - che speriamo venga completata o iniziata una volta completata la recinzione (le pecore amano le verdure)
  
  Qualcuno creativo per gli ampliamenti di una casa ancora da terminare
  
  Costruire con materiale riciclato: questo richiede creatività e incentivi
  
  Tieni presente che avrai bisogno di attrezzatura da lavoro all'aperto e, naturalmente, se puoi portare dei guanti da lavoro in modo da averne un paio (se possibile)
  
  Una giornata normale sarà simile a questa:
  La colazione la mattina prima delle 8:00
  La giornata lavorativa inizia alle 8:00 circa (lavorando per circa 5 ore)
  Pranzo (insieme/normalmente) alle. 1:30 GIORNATA LIBERA NO
  Nel pomeriggio scegli se continuare a lavorare o sei libero
  Cena tra le 19:30 e le 20:00 (insieme) GIORNATA LIBERA NO
  A CAUSA DEL TEMPO VI CHIEDIAMO DI TENERE A MENTE CHE STATE LAVORANDO ALL'APERTO.
  
  Aiutiamo insieme nella pulizia e nella manutenzione delle aree comuni. Quindi la comprensione è che tutti contribuiscono per aiutare.
  Hai due giorni liberi - potrebbero essere due giorni insieme o separati - chiediamo anche che questo sia flessibile a seconda di cosa stiamo succedendo. 5 giorni su 2 liberi. (ti suggeriamo, a causa dell'assenza di autobus la DOMENICA, di lavorare in questo giorno e di prendere i tuoi giorni liberi durante la notte, dopo che i tuoi giorni e orari sono stati completati)

  Acomodação

  We are in Aspromonte… the town is Santa Cristina d'Aspromonte, a picturesque village with few inhabitants located in the far south of Calabria. Currently population less than 500 inhabitants.
  
  The accommodation is located inside the property (tents or campervans) or very close to the city center (THE ROOMS ARE FULL only in AUGUST and available other times for our volunteers. Equipped with a covered outdoor kitchen and WC/shower. It is equipped with everything needed for cooking.
  
  Shared bathroom/shower, lounge and kitchen. There is a bedroom with two single beds and a bedroom with a single bed. (three in total in this space).
  
  Special dietary needs may be accommodated, but
  WE ENCOURAGE ALL VOLUNTEERS TO NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A RESORT AND DOES NOT HAVE A SUPERMARKET, SO MAYBE PLAN A LITTLE BEFORE...
  if you are able to bring things, that way there will be no problems to get the things you want (especially since we are quite far away). That said: most, if not all, meals are eaten together, mostly local and seasonal. Being a mountain area, you will find the typical cuisine of Southern Italy: tasty and genuine, it can also be predominantly vegetarian. It is a good idea to let me know if you suffer from allergies, etc. If you require special foods you will need to bring them with you or purchase them on your own. Having said that: most of the production is local and we almost always eat together. This is a mountain area, so you find typical southern Italian cuisine: tasty and genuine.

  Ci troviamo in Aspromonte...il paese è Santa Cristina d'Aspromonte, un pittoresco paesino con pochi abitanti situato nell'estremo sud della Calabria. Attualmente popolazione inferiore a 500 abitanti.
  L'alloggio si trova all'interno della proprietà (SE SEI IN CAMPEGGIO o hai un camper) o vicinissimo al centro della città.
  
  Un bagno, un salotto e una cucina in comune. C'è una camera con due letti singoli e una camera con un letto singolo.
  
  Lo spazio per camper e tende si trova all'interno della proprietà, dotata di cucina esterna coperta e WC/doccia. E' dotato di tutto il necessario per cucinare.
  
  Potrebbero essere soddisfatte esigenze alimentari speciali, ma INCORAGGIIAMO TUTTI I VOLONTARI A NOTARE CHE QUESTO È UN VILLAGGIO E NON HA UN SUPERMERCATO, QUINDI FORSE PIANIFICARE UN PICCOLO PRIMA... se sei in grado di portare le cose, in questo modo non ci saranno problemi a procurarti le cose che desideri (soprattutto perché siamo abbastanza lontani). Detto questo: la maggior parte, se non tutti, i pasti vengono consumati insieme, per lo più locali e di stagione.
  
  Trattandosi di una zona di montagna, troverete la cucina tipica del Sud Italia: gustosa e genuina, può essere anche prevalentemente vegetariana.
  
  Il posto si trova a circa 1'5 km dal centro abitato. C'è posto per il vostro camper, cucina esterna coperta, servizi igienici.
  E' un buona idea farmi presente se si soffre di allergie, etc, Se avete bisogno di cibi speciali sarà necessario che ve li portiate dietro o acquistate per conto vostro.   Find out how to get around if you don't have a car or other means of transport. Trekking, camping, horseback riding, off-road or road biking, relaxing, historic cities to discover and much more that I can't even think of. Transport is minimal and for those arriving it is important that everyone understands this. It is important to be able to work independently and autonomously as I work on multiple things at the same time. (once confirmed - spoken, not just texted) How to reach us (PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BY EVENING BUS DURING WINTER) We are far away, but you can reach us by bus from Reggio Calabria.
  
  From Reggio Calabria the buses leave at 06:20-13:40 (we recommend the first two in the winter period) -18:00 all from the stop in front of the Lido Station (near the Gelateria Cesere) take about an hour and forty minutes to reach the village. (there is one that arrives here in the afternoon) leaves Reggio at around 1.40pm and arrives here at around 4pm a beautiful bus trip through the coastal towns...BAGNARA, SCILLA ETC

You can arrive in Gioia Tauro (RC) by train or bus and we may be able to organize your collection (depending on time, etc.) It is approximately 28 km away.   We have two buses a day that leave early in the morning from Santa Cristina D'Aspromonte (05.30 - always check the timetable) for Reggio (ETA 07.50), it coincides with other buses, the other arrives at 1.40pm at 3.50pm. The other bus at 6.50 leaves the city and goes to Gioia Tauro - Good to know if you want to get away for a few days and want to catch connecting buses or trains. NOT SUNDAY! The area is quiet and is a great place where people can find time to work on themselves and contribute to the growth of the project. There are some fabulous guided tours in the area that you can take part in. They usually take place on Sundays and are affordable (around €10-20 for a guided informative trek). And it would also be a pleasure to show you the local places of interest. Is there Internet access? YES slow connection in the property.

  Come raggiungerci (SI PREGA DI NON ARRIVARE CON IL BUS SERA DURANTE L'INVERNO)
  
  Siamo lontani, ma puoi raggiungerci tramite autobus da Reggio Calabria.
  Da Reggio Calabria gli autobus partono alle 06:20-13:40 (consigliamo i primi due nel periodo invernale) -18:00 tutti dalla fermata di fronte alla Stazione Lido (vicino alla Gelateria Cesere) impiegano circa un'ora e quaranta per raggiungere il Villaggio.
  (ce n'è uno che arriva qui nel pomeriggio) lascia Reggio alle 13:40 circa e arriva qui alle 16:00 circa un bellissimo viaggio in autobus attraverso le città costiere...BAGNARA, SCILLA ETC
  
  Prendi nota di questi se potresti voler visitare nei tuoi giorni liberi.
  
  Puoi arrivare a Gioia Tauro (RC) in treno o in autobus e potremmo essere in grado di organizzare il tuo ritiro (in base all'orario, ecc.) Dista circa 28 km. Potresti voler venire qui se hai una bicicletta o addirittura arrivare qui in macchina. Oppure da qui c'è un autobus che parte vicino alla stazione alle 13:18.
  
  Abbiamo due autobus al giorno che partono la mattina presto da Santa Cristina D'Aspromonte (05:30 - controlla sempre gli orari) per Reggio (ETA 07:50), fa coincidenza con altri autobus, l'altro alle 13:40 che arriva alle 15:50.
  
  L'altro autobus alle 6:50 parte dalla città e va a Gioia Tauro - Buono a sapersi se vuoi allontanarti qualche giorno e vuoi prendere autobus o treni in coincidenza.

  Qui in Aspromonte siamo circondati dalla natura e il progetto sta liberando una parte bellissima in cui si sta evolvendo. La zona è tranquilla ed è un ottimo posto dove le persone possono trovare il tempo per lavorare su se stesse e contribuire alla crescita del progetto.
  
  Ci sono delle favolose visite guidate nella zona a cui puoi prendere parte. Di solito si svolgono la domenica e sono convenienti (circa € 10-20 per un trekking informativo guidato).
  
  E sarebbe anche un piacere mostrarti i luoghi di interesse locali.
