… read more market. It is only a short distance from Byron, and surrounded by stunning hinterlands. We really recommend this location if you want to see Byron and surrounding areas. The work itself was very fair, we were provided with the tools we needed and given work that made the most of our skills. Simon and Michael worked well together to complete some bigger jobs in the house, it was nice to be able to get stuck in. We did 3 hours of work for 5 days, which finished at 11am so the rest of the day was our own! We enjoyed a dip in the pool after work, which was very refreshing!
The house itself is stunning- with a view that takes your breath away. The annex was very well equipped, clean and completely private. We were lucky enough to be staying with another workawayer, who was able to teach us about Japanese cooking and accompanied us on our adventures around Byron.

I also had the pleasure of working alongside a wonderful couple during my stay, and I’m so grateful for the memories we created together. Exploring the town, visiting the beach, strolling through the farmer’s market, and diving into the pool after work are experiences I’ll cherish for a lifetime. Mullumbimby is such a stunningly beautiful town, surrounded by nature that soothes the soul.

I recently had the pleasure of staying with Michael for 3 weeks through the Workaway program, and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. From the moment I arrived, Michael made me feel right at home and I immediately felt comfortable in his lovely and peaceful surroundings.

Michael gave me a lot of freedom in how I wanted to work and I thoroughly enjoyed tending to the different plants, getting to know them and learning about their individual care requirements. I found this to be both relaxing and rewarding.
The property also boasts a breathtaking view into a long valley, which made for an incredible backdrop to my mornings and evenings. This added an extra layer of peace and serenity to my stay and was truly a breathtaking sight to behold.
I stayed in a big studio with a shared kitchen and it was the perfect setup for my needs. I was able to have my own space and privacy, but also had the opportunity to meet and get to know other travelers during my stay.
In addition to my work at the property, I had plenty of free time to go surfing in Byron Bay and explore the surrounding area. This was a great way to experience the local culture and make some wonderful memories.
Michael was an excellent host who was always available to help and offer advice when needed. He was kind, friendly and had a great sense of humor. We had interesting conversations over meals or a glass of wine and it was a joy to get to know him better.
Overall, I would highly recommend Michael as a Workaway host. He has created a wonderful environment and I truly had a wonderful time during my stay. Not only did he employ the highest safety standards but he also ecompleted the work brilliantly. At the end of each day Thomas demonstrated his Germanic diligence by caring for, cleaning and storing all of my tools perfectly.
This couple are the ideal Workawayers, good communicators, hard and conscientious workers who fitted into my home perfectly. I cannot recommend them more highly. _
Finally I would add that you should make sure you have good solid jobs for Jasmine and Thomas to get stuck into for they are not slouchers!

My stay with Michael was amazing! I intended to stay for 1 week but end up staying for a Month! He is a friendly man who took very good care of me and is organized in what needs to be done. Quite often we had a nice coffee break and would enjoy a nice conversation and the beautiful view! He takes very good care of the workawayers and I could even use his bike and nutri bullet! Very generous!! We went a couple of times to town, the beach and the markets together which was very enjoyable!

Staying with Michael in his lovely home was our second workaway experience and we were not disappointed. Michael and George greeted us and made us feel at home. We also appreciated the privacy that went both ways. The accommodations are excellent with ample space to relax, we especially enjoyed the shaded pool area in the heat of the afternoon.
… read more The workaway cooking area was well equipped and Michael provided us with anything that was missing or needed. I especially enjoyed the outdoor charcoal grill. Our stay coincided with a very hot spell of weather, and as a result the bedroom was hot and difficult to sleep, we simply went and purchased a 15 dollar fan to supplement the ceiling fan, we then slept well on a very comfortable queen bed and nice pillows.
Work wise, as a mature experienced couple, we very much appreciated being given tasks to complete, given the tools and being left to complete the job without being micro managed. We also felt that Michael appreciated our input and suggestions for many different scenarios. We felt appreciated, respected and welcomed. The 7-10 work schedule really worked well for us as we are early risers and value the remaining day to get out and explore the area.
Socially we had some fun times visiting with great conversations, drinks, music, swims and some wonderful meals together. Friday night with Michael, Nell, Ben and Arrate was lots of fun and we got to be ourselves and share some laughs and life experiences. The Spanish Paella was an amazing joint effort by all. Well done everyone, it was very Delicious.

There are two things we will miss the most though, the view and George, who is one of the most gentle and charming dogs we’ve ever met. … read more whatever you like. The house is located up a hill from where you got an AMAZING view you will enjoy every minute of your stay. Can't say I wont miss having breakfast there. The accommodation is great, we had a kitchen and bathroom to share with the other couple that was doing the workaway too (to have another couple there was very nice to share during work and off it, usually travelers from all around the world). We had a big Friday dinner night which was the highlight of our stay, with other past couples that worked before for Michael, we all cooked, eat, dance some rock and had a wonderful time! It was our first workaway experience, but for sure one we will remember. The house is less that 5 minutes away from Mullumbimby, a lovely town to go for a walk and groceries. Also near to Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay with their beaches. We stayed for 2 weeks in an amazing place on the mountain above Mullumbimby.
The view was gorgeous, the house was big and very comfortable and the room itself wonderful. We had our own modern kitchen and bathroom. Michael was really thoughtful and fair with you.

Marta was very popular, useful and multi talented individual. She completed her tasks with little supervision to a very high standard and clearly took pride in her work.

We had an absolutely wonderful fortnight at Michael’s which rate it as one of my most enjoyable Workaway stays so far - and I've done a fair few! The accommodation is luxurious: clean, spacious and private with beautiful views and a large, sunny deck with a hammock, dining table and plenty of lounge chairs. We each worked 3 hours for 5 days and
… read more had 2 full days off. Then after the first week Michael was more flexible and I was able to take several days to work elsewhere for money. The work we did was pretty much our own choice and we were left to do it under our own supervision. The pool after work on a hot day was an added treat. Our own separate kitchen was large, clean, and well equipped. Michael is great company and I felt relaxed and welcome from the moment I arrived.
He shared excellent suggestions and advice for things to do and see. The surrounding area is worth exploring on afternoons off. I enjoyed the local towns, beaches and waterfalls and also the local farmers market and a local park Michael invited us along to.
