I always managed to find a good time there exploring the bush and the community events they host. Interesting builds Ben's neighbors have. Worth respectfully exploring! Building with Benjamin was really nice and we achieved a lot together in the project. Benjamin always tried to challenge us and invited us to grow, as a person and in our skillset giving us tasks he believed we could handle. Being part of his project was a lot of fun and we learned so much. Not only about carpentry and other building stuff but also about herbalism and various other topics. We always had great conversations together.
The ecovillage became like a home for us and so we ended up staying for 2 months and even came back for other projects... and we will hopefully be back sooner than we think ;))
Really enjoyed and valued the contribution to our project from Luana Audrin and Nils who worked hard on kicking off the carpentry on some pretty complex parts of the house. Nils is a proficient and experienced carpenter/architect and has good eyes and ideas for problems that come up. Luana Audrin is very capable and was able to pick up

What can I say about Robyn, she was a great workaway and was enjoyable to host. She has a great work ethic, worked hard, was clean and tidy. I enjoyed the conversations we had, the card games and the fun we had with french and english translations. Vad is super mature for his age and would be great for any workaway project.

Elena was offered an opportunity to work on a mosaic in a very awkward space and made something incredibly beautiful and special. We were especially impressed with the confidence and skill in the work given it was her second time working on a large scale mosaic!

… read more The work is fascinating and meaningful, Ben suggested several ideas he had for us at the very beginning, open for discussion so we could add our two cents. Not only is Ben open to suggestions, but he is also very patient and a great instructor when it comes to sharing knowledge, teaching tools' usage and best practices. Our two weeks at the Ecovillage felt like an great training in bricklaying, paving, mosaic making, etc.
The Ecovillage's campsite, where we stayed, is a great place to live. Very calm with a fully fledged kitchen, it is ideal if you want some time to chill. The icing on the cake are other workawayers you might come across during your stay. We were so lucky to share some enriching time with people from across the globe (who are now in our hearts as well!). There are plenty of hikes that literally start at the campsite, and even a dam where you can go for a swim in case it gets a bit too hot.
On top of everything, there was the food. What an incredible, healthy, tasty, varied and fresh food. You could feel the love poured into every meal. A huge thanks for taking care of us so good!
We somehow regret not being able to stay for a longer period, so if you are planning on visiting Ben and Carly and spending some time with them, do not hesitate to plan for a long stay! Should we ever come back to NSW, we'll definitely be heading back to the Ecovillage, a place we already call home in Australia!

We also spent a lot of time with Ben, Carly and their two children. We have left them feeling as though we have made friends for life. They are truly the most open hearted, generous individuals you could meet. They opened their home to us and helped us with whatever it was we needed. Carly is an incredible cook and puts so much care and thought into what she makes.

Probably of greater contribution in the context of this time (covid restrictions), was the way that they connected with our family. Such a welcome distraction. They were amazing with our kids and spent time playing with them and teaching them all sorts of things - I don't think they'll ever be forgotten and we look forward to meeting L&K again in the future.

Work was great too, with patience and time, Ben will teach you what he and Will (next level architect that we have) needs and will often ask you if you have another perspective on how to solve the problem. The process of learning while the project grows has been beautiful.
I can't really explain in words how grateful we are for the experience that we've had in this place, trying to do so would reduce the experience itself to just one thing. But its been so much more than that.
For the next ones who are coming, use your time wisely, manage it properly, and communicate openly! This will enhance the experience even more :)

We enjoyed having Mathias here as a volunteer. He arrived just days before we had a two week wet spell (including floods) which delayed our more interesting plans for the time. Without reluctance he helped with managing water movement (digging trenches, fixing tarps, moving barrows of material up a slippery hill) and afterwards repairing water
… read more damage... luckily, he hung around long enough to do some of the building work and ended up helping out on another project here as well.
He has a great work ethic, is reliable and went out of his way to be helpful. The kids (and adults too) enjoy his playful energy and he connected easily with people in the community. Mathias would be welcome on any project and we have no hesitance in recommending him.

My stay in the Ecovillage was awesome. It was a big experience for me to see all this interesting buildings and met this lovely community. It is a beautiful village with a lot of interesting people, nice nature around and a lot of things to see an explore.

… read more had interesting communications about different materials or different using. The work was always nice and interesting and Ben is totally open, easy and relaxed.
Also the community at all is really open and friendly. I got a lot of invitations for Partys, Workshops or Sport and always help for anything.
I stayed on the campground with a nice outdoor kitchen and some nice tent-neighbours. Ben and Carly did always they best to feel me at home. I got nice and healthy food, a lot of ideas and recommendations what I can do around this area and also spent nice hours with interesting conversations with them and also share some trips with the whole family.
