Descrição
The Ranch is a 300-acre guest ranch near Clearwater, British Columbia.
We offer log cabin accommodation, a campground, horseback riding and our authentic Western-style Black Horse Saloon.
The ranch is home to much more than horses. We also have ponies, donkeys, Highland cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats.
Our team is small, usually around 7 people, and international. You will meet guests from all over the world while living and working in one of Canada's most spectacular wilderness areas.
Life here is busy, practical and very hands-on. We are not a large hotel where everyone stays within their own department. We work together, help each other and deal with whatever ranch life throws at us that day.
For the 2027 season, from mid-April until early October, we are looking for people who genuinely want to become part of that team and experience ranch life from the inside.
If you love animals, enjoy being outdoors, don't mind getting dirty and like the idea of every day being different, you may feel very much at home here.
We provide:
* Accommodation on the ranch
* Competitive wages
* Gratuities where applicable
* Regular days off
* A small international working environment
* The opportunity to live and work in the Provincial Park
We strongly prefer people who can stay for most or all of the season. -

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
You’ll meet guests from all over the world—of all ages and backgrounds—as well as many wonderful Canadians. During your time here, you’ll build close friendships and meaningful connections with guests, fellow staff, and our neighbours.
If you are interested in horsemanship, you will receive a solid introduction to Western riding, guiding, and horse care. We’re happy to help you develop skills in these areas and support you as you learn. You can also explore other areas such as animal care, hospitality, and farming—wherever your interests lead you. -

Ajuda
For the 2027 season, we are looking for:
* A cook
* Several all-round ranch team members
First, an important point: this is not a holiday.
Working on a guest ranch can be an incredible experience, but it is also hard work. Some days start early, some days finish late, and during the busy season the days can be long and physically demanding.
You will not spend your whole day doing one thing.
A day might start with feeding animals, followed by breakfast service, cleaning cabins, preparing horses for a trail ride, repairing a fence in the afternoon and helping with dinner service in the evening.
The next day may look completely different.
That is ranch life.
If you are looking for an easy job, a strict 9-to-5 schedule or mainly a place to stay while travelling around Canada, this is probably not the right fit.
If you enjoy physical work, variety, animals, being outdoors and being part of a small team, you may love it here.
Our all-round ranch team helps with:
* Feeding and watering animals
* Checking animals and cleaning pens and shelters
* Caring for horses, ponies, donkeys, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats
* Catching, grooming and tacking horses
* Preparing horses for guests
* Accompanying trail rides if you have sufficient riding experience
* Cleaning guest cabins and bathrooms
* Making beds and doing laundry
* Breakfast service
* Dinner and restaurant service
* Dishes and kitchen support
* Helping guests around the ranch
* Fencing and pasture work
* Lawn mowing and groundskeeping
* Maintenance and repairs
* Painting and construction projects
* Cutting and stacking firewood
* General ranch duties
You do not need to arrive knowing how to do everything, but you do need to be willing to learn, get your hands dirty and help wherever needed.
People will naturally spend more time in certain areas depending on their skills. Someone with strong horse experience may spend more time with the horses, while someone with construction experience may do more maintenance.
But nobody works exclusively in one area.
With a small team, "that's not my job" does not really work here.
If you want to accompany trail rides, you must already be a confident and experienced rider with good horse-handling skills. Experience with Western riding, trail riding, guiding, training, pack horses or ranch work is particularly valuable.
Practical skills are also a big advantage. Experience with construction, carpentry, mechanics, fencing, masonry, landscaping, plumbing, electrical work or general maintenance is always useful on a 300-acre ranch.
Animal care is a big part of everyday life here. All of our animals need to be fed, watered, checked and cared for every day.
Animal care does not stop because it is raining, hot, cold or because we are busy with guests.
If an animal needs feeding, it gets fed.
If a water trough needs filling, it gets filled.
If a fence is broken, it gets fixed.
For the cook position, responsibilities include:
* Planning meals
* Ordering and managing supplies
* Preparing breakfast and dinner
* Cooking for individual guests and groups
* Mise en place
* Preparing desserts
* Managing stock
* Kitchen organization
* Cleanliness and food safety
We serve good, straightforward ranch food in our Western-style Black Horse Saloon rather than fine dining. Professional kitchen experience or experience cooking for groups is strongly preferred.
We are looking for people who are:
* Hardworking and reliable
* Practical
* Comfortable with physical work
* Happy working outdoors
* Comfortable getting dirty
* Responsible around animals
* Good with guests
* Flexible
* Able to work independently
* Team players
* Willing to learn
* Willing to help wherever needed
Our 2027 season runs from mid-April until early October, and we strongly prefer applicants who can stay for the full season or a large part of it.
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. International applicants are very welcome with a Working Holiday Visa or another valid Canadian work permit. -

Meus animais / animais de estimação
FERDINAND
FERDI is one of our house cats; shy but also a sweet heart. He is a very good hunter and brings you always some 'gifts'.
MITZI
MITZI is our old barn cat. She belongs to the ranch like the old barn. Mitzi has her own mind and is a good hunter. She loves to live in the barn.
BARNY
BARNY is one of 3 cats that came to the Ranch as stray cats. He is special in several aspects and always needy in love.
SCOTCH
Scotch is the most pictured animal at the ranch. He is - like Syra - 13 1/2 y old and his hinds do not let him move fast anymore. He has a very good minded and sweet nature.

I've stayed for 9 months with Elvira and Dani and had an amazing time after not such a great start of being in Canada. I changed unplanned from another place to the ranch where they welcomed me with open arms!
