Therese and Elfriede stayed 6 days at our place and we're happy we met them as they are interesting and fun. Astrid and Stefano stayed a fortnight with our family. They worked mainly in our garden but did also the catering for our youngest daughter's birthday party making marvelous pizzas and the tastiest tiramisu. Me and Irene spent two weeks with this loving family and we enjoyed every bit. The whole family were vey welcoming and we felt as part of the family.
Joke is one of the most loving and optimistic people we have ever known. She was so patient with us when it came to teaching and improving our French, and she helped us tremendously with that part.
… read more Also, the amount of work we were given was reasonable and not very exhausting. She also let us choose whether to work in the mornings or in the afternoons. She was the one that we got to know the best because Etienne and Louis had to work somedays and Ester and Aude weren't still on Easter break. She is also a really good cook and made us typical French food. We really experienced the French cuisine and culture with her, as well as with everybody else.
Etienne, Louis, Ester and Aude were so charming as well, and we had loads of fun playing board games with them all, specially "Le Mito". It wasn't really hard for us to get along with their kids, because we are closed in age with them. We got to know every one of them. They are very fun to be around, really opened-minded and we can definitely say that we have became friends.
As we worked in the mornings we had ton of time for going for a walk, playing, getting to know everybody, as well as petting the cats (who are really cute by the way) in the afternoons.
We also got to see Limoges, its porcelain museum and its fripperies or second-hand shops.
We are definitely looking forward to go away next year.

We stayed with Joke, Etienne, Esther and Aude for two weeks and had a wonderful time - we can’t believe it went so quickly! This was our first workaway experience so we were quite nervous but we were immediately made to feel welcome and at home. The work was really manageable and Joke was always around to give us help or guidance if we needed it.
… read more During our stay, we painted two outside walls and varnished the wood for the terrace - which we are sad we didn’t have time to help finish! However it felt like the work only took up a tiny fraction of our stay, as much of it ended up feeling like a holiday; Joke was happy to take us around to nearby villages, in which we got to see a concert and fireworks for Bastille Day. We visited Limoges a few times, as there is a bus stop just outside their house. The area feels very well connected and not isolated at all, whilst equally offering a beautiful, tranquil countryside. We had lots of space and freedom, but we were also made to feel very included in family life. Each night we would have lovely food and wine (curated by the connoisseur Etienne!) and then watch a movie or play board games. We would 100% recommend Carcassonne! The whole trip felt like a valuable cultural exchange - it was the perfect setting to practice French as the whole family are very encouraging and patient. Both Joke and Etienne are very insightful and knowledgable people. Esther and Aude are very lovely, exciting and energetic people and we will miss them a lot! We were sad not to have met Louis as he was away during our stay. Above all we will miss the cats Mira and Pepin :P ! We would absolutely recommend a workaway with this wonderful family in the beautiful Limousin countryside. … read more They needed some days to get into it, but we really observed a gain of confidence and autonomy . During the second week they organised most of the work themselfs and the tasks were welldone. Mainly they have had a paintbrush grafted in their hand since they painted eaves and facades and traited planking. I will remember the two of them covered in paint, talking in the hammocks with our girls, playing "battle sheep" and "carcassonne" (with a playingstyle Caitlin not offering anything and Emilia overly nice), sleeping in the hammocks, watching movies and doing just dayly stuff together. As for the time spent with the family they all speak pretty good English, if you like to play board games, having a little drink and listening to background music by either Aude (piano) and Etienne and Louis (guitar) then you will love it here. It's a very lively house and I wish we had stayed longer as we were looked after so well. We felt like part of the family! Joke would often offer to drive us into town to do some site seeing or give us a map for some nice walks.
If the opportunity arose again we would 100% go back.

Where to begins out of this family? My girlfriend and I wanted to stay just a week at the beginning. The "work" was more like us all playing together in the garden. It never really felt like work because they were always there with us. Joke and Etienne are wonderful people and we really thank our Stars that we met them and were invited into their family. We feel like they are apart of our traveling family and that's one of the really beautiful things we have discovered in our traveling so far. And kids!
