    Descrição

We are Catherine and Simon, our project involves the renovation of large farmhouse and 5 acres of surrounding land. Our aim is to create a retreat space for holistic practices like yoga and Qi Gong and creative workshops. We have been here for almost 6 years but there is still a lot to do, from remodelling and decorating work in the house, lots of sanding, filling and painting, to the up keep and maintenance of the land. We are very keen gardeners, and have an extensive ever expanding vegetable patch as well as a kitchen garden and medicinal herb beds. We have a natural swimming pool, that is self cleaning through the water garden planted along side and a wood powered hot tub. We enjoy cooking and love using produce straight from the garden, we have an outside kitchen with its own pizza oven. We have internet connection, a games room and an outside ping pong table. There are also plenty of nice walks and wild swimming spots in the local area, to explore.

We are close to Aveiro, sea side town, 1 hour from Porto , also many beautiful walks and waterfalls near by.

Part of Aveiro is famous for the canals that run through it, bridges and beautiful painted boats called moliceiros, similar to the gondolas of Venice. For this reason, the city is called the "Portuguese Venice", although the comparison is obviously exaggerated.

The real charm of Aveiro lies in its coast, with its fantastic sandy beaches has São Jacinto, Barra and Costa Nova. This local coast is well known as Silver Coast, due to the beautifull and clean beaches.

Aveiro has humid wet temperate climate, coolish in the summer and not so cold in winter. November, December, and January make up the rainy season, while July and August are the driest months. Autumn and Winter tend to have strong coastal winds, excellent for kite or wind-surf, as well as amazing sailing conditions.
