How fortunate we were that Pietro had an opening in his schedule and he came to us. He was so willing to do whatever was needed, including hanging curtains, seeding vegetables, preparing delicious Italian meals (including for dinner parties). We highly recommend Pietro as a person who embodies the ideals of workaway.

I spent 10 days with Debi and Micheal in their place in Aude, France (not in Texas) and it was a fantastic experience. Both of them went out of their way to make me feel welcome and help me explore the area. This Workaway stay was truly special and I will always cherish the memories. I am very lucky to have met Debi and Micheal, and I hope to see them again soon! Five stars are not enough: highly, highly recommended!!
What a power house these two are! We were so blessed that they chose us to be their first workaway host. We were preparing our house to lease furnished, plus have an estate sale and get ready for a year-long trip. Thus, we had a wide variety of tasks, including needing help with meals. Nan does a lot of the "heavy lifting" when it comes to outside tasks and DIY projects. She managed to organize my rather disorganized walk-in pantry without creating chaos in the kitchen. She also organized a very messy garden shed, arranged a lot of firewood in more accessible ways, and seldom stopped to take a break. Wren went to work cleaning and painting very old wicker, which gave it new life, plus painting metal furniture and making meals to give me a break. Both women were wonderful at helping us with ordinary household tasks without being asked, such as taking out the trash, sweeping the kitchen, cleaning up after dinner, etc. And these are just a few of the many things they accomplished in their short 2 weeks with us. They got along well with our other workawayers, both those that were there when they arrived and others that came afterwards. We all greatly enjoyed learning about their life in the northern US, and their vast travels. They are sensitive to the needs of others, and are deeply caring. I was quite overwhelmed about getting everything accomplished by our departure date, and they both encouraged me to rest a bit and let them handle things that were difficult for me to achieve. I couldn't be more appreciative. I can highly recommend both Nan and Wren, and their sweet dog, Daisy, as workawayers and/or house and pet sitters. I know that we couldn't have had better help during such a stressful period of our lives. We feel so fortunate to have gotten to know them, and we look forward to hosting them anytime they are available.

They showed genuine interest in doing a good job, and acquiring new skill-sets to help them with future workaway projects. They also were eager to see our part of Texas, and to share their cultures with us. I was a bit disorganized at times, and both were good about reminding me to "stay on task," or to give them more things to do - for which I was grateful. At times, both Cate and Marvin jumped in and offered to do help without being asked. When other workawayers arrived, they easily made friends and got along very well with everyone. We enjoyed our dinner conversations and learning about their respective career experiences and goals. Given that our situation was rather fluid when they were with us, they adapted to our changing needs with grace. Both Cate and Marvin are personable and interesting conversationists. Their help was greatly needed and appreciated. Once they left our house, they became workawayers for a friend (not on this website), and she, too, gave them good reviews. I'm sure they will be good help for future hosts as they acquire even more experience navigating the variety of projects and personalities offered through workaway.Comentário

We are so grateful that Morgane and Sarah chose us as their first workaway host. It was a treat to get to know them, and they became part of our family almost immediately, pitching in to help whenever they saw a need and tackling the specified projects efficiently and completely. First of all, both Morgane and Sarah are delightful and interesting
… read more young women, and good conversationalists. They are intelligent, independent, conscientious, and highly responsible. Their long friendship is evident in the way that they work together and call on each other's strengths when appropriate. When they arrived, the Christmas decorations and tree needed to be removed and put away, which they did promptly and thoroughly, including removing the rather large live tree to the outside without assistance, then making sure all the needles and remnants were vacuumed. We are in the process of preparing our house to rent, so we needed help removing "stuff" for a garage sale, de-cluttering and depersonalizing our house. Both Morgane and Sarah were great at helping me stay on task, and had some good ideas for ways to arrange spaces to make them more attractive for a tenant. They also are very attentive and constantly offered to assist with the everyday tasks of running a household. When we had a family party, they readily helped with getting the food, the house and porch ready for guests, and joined in the party. All of our family and friends really enjoyed meeting them, as they are very personable and fit right into our social scene. I also appreciated getting up and having the dishwasher emptied and refilled each day, and having great help in the kitchen during dinner preparation and clean-up, and anytime it was needed. Both women are good conversationalists and we had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about their area of France and their prior travels. They are interested in their surroundings and we enjoyed showing them our area of Texas, and appreciated their taking time to explore others sights by using one of our vehicles. It was fun to experience their delight and surprise when they saw something new, different, and particular to Texas.
Sarah enjoys making meals and taught me a classically French recipe, with Morgane's assistance. Morgane organized the work and laid out the schedule they followed. They are respectful, neat, and kept their bedroom in good order, leaving it as clean as they found it. All too soon, the two weeks were over and they are on their way to their next fortunate host. We know, though, that we have made new friends and that we will see them again either here or in France. Thank you, Sarah and Morgane, for your conscientious help, your enjoyable presence and conversations, and for showing interest in getting to know us and our culture. Bon voyage for your next workaway experience!
Hello there ! Me(Sarah) and my friend Morgane Stayed 2 weeks in Debi and Michael’s house recently and it was amazing ! It was our first experience as workawayer (and wwoofing) and we can’t find better for sure ! They are really lovely people who do everything to make you feel confortable and listened. Morgane is vegetarian and it wasn’t a problem

They presented us their family and we shared some precious moments with them that were awesome! And about the work, it’s accessible for everyone, not too hard. We essentially helped them to clean and prepare their house so they can rent it.
To finish, we want to say Thank you again to Debi, Michael and their family for this experience and we can just encourage the next workawayers to go meet them and discover the beautiful city of Wimberley ☺️!

When you stay with Debi and Micheal, you become part of the family. You can explore the beautiful neighborhood and the town of Wimberley by walking or use electric bicycle.

Imagine viewing an eclipse with friendly neighbors, cheering on a women's high school soccer game, participating in a French conversation group at a cozy café, or enjoying a delicious dinner with their close family. With their deep connections in the community, Debi and Michael could be considered the cultural ambassadors of Wimberley.
Accommodations is superb. I had a beautiful spacious room with a very comfortable queen size bed to unwind in after a day of work or exploration. Debi is a fantastic cook, and you can expect to be surprised with a new culinary creation nearly every evening. Her well-stocked pantry resembles a library of herbs, spices, and ingredients, allowing her to craft authentic dishes from around the world. She's always eager to learn new recipes and welcomes workawayers to share dishes from their own cultures.
You will have flexible and supportive work environment. It was nice to feel the satisfaction of contributing when my projects were completed. I was mostly involved working on the wooden fences by replacing old damaged one with new one, that needed sanding and painting and some that needed repairing. Also worked on two long porches by prepping, priming and painting them.
While there's no pressure, you'll have the flexibility to plan your work hours and tackle tasks at your own pace. Debi and Micheal did provide everything I needed to complete the projects, and Micheal is always happy to offer a helping hand.
I wish Debi and Micheal continued success in their endeavors and continue to be a welcoming “little haven” for future workawayers.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

It was our great fortune to have Shahriar here for approximately 4 weeks. He got on his hands and news to scrape the loose paint, cleaned it thoroughly, and put on a sealer, bonding coat, then two coats of paint. He also made some excellent suggestions to improve the outcome. After completing the porch, he turned his attention to our fence. I would never have believed the amazing and meticulous job that he did restoring each picket and painting them to match. He then realigned the top so that it had the right angle to the corner of the intersecting fence. The fence looks better now than it did when it was new! In everything Shahriar did, he went above and beyond the typical workawayer. In addition to all that Shahriar did, we learned so much about Iran, the culture and cuisine. Shahriar is educated and a professional. He's intelligent and sensitive. He kept his room neat and clean at all times. He was interested in knowing more about Texas, and he enjoyed some of the cultural events we shared with him. He helped with daily tasks and always had a positive attitude. I would trust Shahriar with any project because I am sure that he would do it well, or if he couldn't do it, he would say so. I highly recommend Shahriar as a workawayer and/or house sitter. We've been fortunate enough to have had 80+ workawayers, and he's definitely one of the top!

Mikail was absolutely fantastic! He arrived with a "can do" attitude and was great help to us throughout his 4 month stay. Just as Mikail arrived, our area suffered a unique ice storm, which caused numerous trees to crack and limbs to break. Fortunately, Mikail knew how to operate a chain saw, and went straight to work getting our yard cleaned up.

The conversation around our dinner table was very interesting with 3 men from different countries. It was hard work getting the limbs and trees cut up, the logs placed, and other debris removed from our property, and Mikail was just amazing and worked many hours during that time. After the property was cleared, Mikail stayed with us another few months, during which time he did a multitude of jobs, including preparing a few meals, cleaning up after meals, repairing some items around the house, including some electrical work. Furthermore, he's a very skilled carpenter and did a fantastic job building some shelves in our garage with no direction or supervision. Mikail loves dogs and he often took our dog for walks without being asked. He and she made great friends. He was always ready to help, and often did things without being asked, such as taking out the trash, watering the plants, sweeping the kitchen. I am sure that we under-utilized his abilities because he's a very skilled carpenter and electrician. He worked for a while for a friend of ours who is a general contractor. He was quite impressed with his work ethic, skills and experience. Additionally, we learned quite a bit about Turkey, Mikail's wide travel experiences, and in general really enjoyed his company. He eagerly explored our area and enjoyed the activities to which we took him, such as the rodeo. His enthusiasm for learning more about cultures and people is refreshing. He always has a ready smile and is willing to help whenever asked. We certainly give Mikail a very high recommendation and would welcome him back anytime.

And, I learned so much about vegan options to replace meat. Sean often anticipated our needs by offering to run an errand, take something from one place to another, offer to cook, and in general, became one of the family. In addition to housesitting – which included keeping her home running properly, paying the bills, making sure the car was driven periodically – we were also tasked with purchasing materials and packing their possessions for a move from one town to another scheduled for the beginning of March. As their home was being listed for sale, we also coordinated visits with the realtor, home inspector and handyman.
The local villages in southern France are sprinkled with expats that answered our myriad of questions regarding the culture, lifestyle, and culinary delights.
Each week there were several Farmers Markets within a 20 minute drive. This was a wonderful opportunity to include fresh fruit and vegetables into our diet during the colder months. These markets also provide a weekly exchange of conversation and camaraderie for people that live in more isolated areas of the region. We felt welcome and included in these local events.
The area was easily accessible for visiting many castles, churches, hiking trails, and parks with amazing views of vineyards and the Pyrenees Mountains.

I was with Deborah and Michael for 2 1/2 months and I must say that I was definitely a very lucky person to have my first Workaway adventure with them. The house in very comfortable, the facilities are excellent. During the night it is very easy to fall asleep since the place is very quiet and peaceful.
To doing the tasks, they are very flexible with the schedules, they will not be behind you seeing if you work, but they will wait for the work to be done. The tasks are well specified, mostly they will be in the garden, but the house may require some maintenance.
Deborah and Michael: Thank you for everything, you made me feel very good and taught me a lot, I hope to keep in touch with you and why not do another workaway this time with Guadalupe. THANKS AGAIN!!!

What great good fortune to have had John with us for 2.5 weeks. I think this man can do most anything, and do it with gusto!! Within 10 minutes of arriving, he realized that our bathroom fan was not working properly, got a ladder, cleaned it out and repaired it immediately - whereas my husband was going to replace it. So, he quickly made a
… read more favorable impression, which only kept getting confirmed. Initially I wanted John's help to remove a dead tree. No only did he saw it down, he split the large and very dense pieces into usable firewood, which he then stacked neatly for next winter. The list of things that John did is long, diverse, and quite impressive. Not only did he do those things that I had written down, he thought of things that needed doing and did them - like vacuuming the coils under both refrigerators and painting the garage door. Some of the other things John did are the following:
I: cleaned and caulked the gutter in the back of the house prior to
installing the 2 water catchment barrels for water harvesting, He linked the
2 barrels so that when the 1st one is filled, then the overflow goes into
the 2nd one; 2. painted the outside of the 2 front doors
in green. 3. fixed the rubbing that the doors did because of settling, and oiled the mechanism for
easier operation, they work much more easily now--. 4 cleaned the dryer
vent hose of built up lint, 5. removed and cleaned the dishwasher food particle screen--6.fixed the bathroom
sheet rock and peeling paint area and retextured it, 7. -trimmed
branches and tied back others for the shed delivery/install. 8. researched
and found an appropriate arbor for the front walkway bridge that would require minimal cutting of the railing on the bridge handrail to install . 9. did dump run for
trash and branches--cut up pruned branches to fit into garbage cans for
pickup- 10. disassembled trampoline for pickup 11. removed old rotten stump from trampoline area--cut up and
stacked burnable cedar lying in the front yard. 12. helped look at
the grass mower to determine why it wasn't running
properly.
There are more items that John completed, thought these are some of the highlights. John takes pride in his work, and does everything well. Plus he is well traveled and a most interesting conversationalist. We really enjoyed having him with us and wish we could have gotten to know him better. Following our place, John went to my friend's house and helped her move and did some maintenance items on her house.
If you are in need of help with any project, I feel competent in recommending John. He is absolutely fantastic! He accomplished so much in the brief time he was with us. He also got along very well with the other workawayers present. He works well individually, too, and needs no supervision - just turn him loose and your project will be finished in no time - and done very well. We hope he will return to our area and stay with us again anytime!

We felt that they were extremely accommodating of our wishes and trust that we didn't let them down with our house sitting duties! We talked enthusiastically about possible business opportunities and when left stranded by our next Host they were quick to assist us in every possible way!
Overall we found them a great couple to spend time with, sending us on our way with a sense of achievement and a complete understanding of their part of France.
We thank them and will keep in touch...

When I first arrived and Debi was still rather new to hosting workawayers she kept asking if there was anything she could do better. That’s Debi in a nutshell, I’d say. She’s great and really wants you to have a good time. :D

Thanks again for everything!

This is a beautiful place. And Debi and Michael were very welcoming, caring, and generous hosts. My work consisted of gardening, cleaning inside the mansion (think windows), and helping a little with some of the DIY projects.

Gail and Peter are extremely organized and were very helpful in prioritizing the steps for efficient use of time. Often they volunteered to do things that weren't "on the list." They helped far more hours than 25 per week, and still would ask if there was more they could do! Additionally, we really enjoyed getting to know such wonderful people. Thank you so very much, Peter and Gail, for moving our project along in such a professional and competent manner, and for being fantastic folks to have here.

I was so lucky to be able to stay with Debi for 3.5 weeks in April/May 2016. The house near St-Sulpice-la-Pointe was a fantastic place to stay.
