The warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel very comfortable with Catherine. I was able to help with everyday tasks such as repairing fences or processing fruit from the garden. I was also allowed to take part in a grape harvest - which was really fun! In general, I felt like part of the family.

… read more walls when I helped Catherine's daughter restore a stone wall on the property and we always had a lot of fun doing it.
Of course, I also enjoyed the animals: Peacocks (with babies!!), Simone (the dog), the chickens, the horses and the donkey - especially seeing how free they can live on the farm.
I learned so many interesting things!

Mo spent nearly two weeks with us and it was a real pleasure.

We got to eat really nice food and were included in everything that happened. We also met two of Cathérines children and some of her friends, who were all super nice. She was a great help in fencing the horses and looking after the house and all the animals while I was away.

Eva is a dynamic, cheerful young woman.
During her stay with me, she helped me look after the horses (we spent a lot of time collecting apples to supplement their feed).
She accompanied me when I went to get one of the horses in the mountains and we had a lovely ride.
She also helped me to maintain the fences.
Eva wasn't very lucky with the
… read more weather and after the very heavy rain she helped me repair damages on a roof. She has climbing experience and her agility is remarkable.
The rain also had some advantages, as we were able to pick up mushrooms. Eva now knows which ones make a good aperitif!
After these great days outdoors, we knitted by the fire....
I can highly recommend Eva, whose French has really improved in just a week.

… read more when it is a bit physical: she planted my tomatoes... which I am still enjoying in October. The kiwis she planted are growing very well and I am very happy that there is something of Nathalie left in the house after she has gone.
She did a beautiful mural in the pool, with a portrait of our peacock in the style of Magritte.
Nathalie designed and built the entire rainwater collection and storage system.
I have to finish the garden bench she started.... unless she comes back soon enough to help me finish it.
What has been very nice is that Nathalie can be very independent, but she was also a great co-worker with me and the other workawayer.

Everything started with a nice message from Catherine. Although, I was heading for another destination, I was curious to meet her. And on the day of my arrival I said to myself and to her that I have no plan how long I will stay. She replied: "Having no plans - suits me."
Turned out, that I stayed for almost 2 month. And I had a really great time.
… read more The moment I arrived and was introduced to the house, the garden, the grounds and the animals I felt like I had arrived at a very welcoming and special place. Even though I've usually have my difficulties to feel welcome and settle down, it was easy at Catherine's. In her mind it is the house and the surroundings, but in my mind part of it is also her and her strength, determination and visions.
There are always things to do, but there is no pressure. You can choose what suits best to you, your abilities and preferences. Even though Catherine is very good in choosing suitable projects to every individual.
I learned new skills by some gardening and maintaining projects and felt real joy by doing some creative work.
But it is not all about working. To the contrary, Catherine is very interested in exchanges and moreover will introduce you to a lot of nice people. Because she is surrounded by very interesting, nice and different individuals. And I still feel glad about having to get to know those people.
Personally I can add, that I've left with a bunch of good memories and gained much more balanced than I had when I arrived. I feel grateful for the hospitality, trust and everything.

Also I was lucky to meet her daughters and connect with her son also. Even I visited one of them in other city and they hosted me in there!
I have so much good memories with Catherine and her friends. Everyday conversation, Visiting other village, picnic, BBQ, accompany for dentists for horses, and walking near by creek etc etc...
I felt so relax and easy at her home because I could chose what to do and when to do. Normally I was looking after animals, cut grasses along the fence, watering garden, picking tomatoes and berries with pleasure.
Over all my stay in her place was amzing with Cultural Exchange, Easygoing and Relax Atomosphere, and Meeting so many nice people.
Catherine is special woman who is very caring, generous, has strength and knowledge. I'm glad to meet her and hope I will see her again in Japan one day!

I helped with the gardening: ploughing the soil, planting vegetable saplings, weeding and watering. I visited a nearby market in a sleepy French town and had a delicious picnic while helping one of Catherine's friends on their truffle farm. I learned so much about local nature and the area. We stayed in a huge bed-room in the basement with cozy fire-place - the only thing we have to mention is that you might have to share the bathroom and toilett with other workawayers. So it can be not as private and clean as expected. Jasmin delighted us with her pizza and put my kitchen in order while Thomas helped me and gave me valuable tips for cutting down large trees on my land.
