🌿 Welcome to the Barossa Valley! 🇦🇺
Hey there!
I’m Kurt, a 34-year-old, easygoing Aussie who loves good company, travel, and the simple joys of life. I’ve been lucky enough to explore many countries around the world, and I’m always keen to meet new people, learn about different cultures, and share stories over a meal or a drink.
I live in the beautiful Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s top wine regions, on a 126-acre sheep farm surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, and big open skies. If you love nature, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere, this is a great place to slow down and enjoy Aussie country life.
🏡 About the Farm
Our farm is home to Dorper sheep and my energetic Border Collie–Kelpie doggo, who always loves extra attention! There’s always something to do here.
If you’re comfortable around animals (and don’t mind a bit of dirt), you’ll fit right in.
💬 Language & Cultural Exchange
I’ve lived in Norway and Denmark, and I’m still learning Nordic languages, so I’d love to host travelers from Scandinavia who can help me practice Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, or even Icelandic. In exchange, you’ll get free accommodation, meals, and an authentic Aussie experience.
🌞 What You’ll Get
Comfortable accommodation on the farm, private room with queen size bed.
All meals and basic expenses covered.
The chance to learn about Aussie farm life, explore the Barossa, and enjoy a laid-back lifestyle.
Great company, language exchange, and the occasional BBQ or local adventure.
I would prefer at least 2 week stays. Longer stays are definitely preferred. Nothing shorter than 2 weeks please.
🍷 Why Stay Here?
You’ll get to experience real Australian country life while meeting new people, improving your English (or helping me with my Nordic!), and exploring one of the most scenic regions in South Australia. It’s a relaxed, friendly place where everyone pitches in and there’s always time for a laugh or a trip to a local winery.
NO SMOKERS PLEASE. Sorry, but we are in a bush fire risk zone and cannot have anyone smoking on the property.
Cheers,
Kurt

🌿 General Farm Help
There are always odd jobs to do around the property. Small maintenance tasks, helping in the garden, tidying up. Nothing too hard or boring, just real, everyday country life.
Nordic Language Exchange
If you’re from Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Iceland, I’d be extra thrilled to host you! I used to live in Denmark and Norway and have been learning Danish and Norwegian, but I still need lots of practice (and laughs along the way). In return, I’m happy to help with your English and give you an authentic taste of Aussie life.
🌞 A Fair Exchange
All of the help is for personal and homestead projects only, not for business work. In exchange, you’ll get:
A private room on the farm
Home-cooked meals and all basic expenses covered
Time to explore the Barossa Valley, relax, and enjoy the sunshine
Access to my spare car within reason to explore the local area.
A friendly, easygoing host who loves good conversation and cultural exchange
If you enjoy hands on projects, country life, and a bit of chaos 😅, you’ll fit right in here.
Cheers,
Kurt

Algo mais...
The Barossa Valley is a truly beautiful region, famous for its rolling vineyards and relaxed country charm. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore local wineries, enjoy scenic hikes through nearby national parks, and even take a day trip to stunning beaches just an hour away. The picturesque Adelaide Hills are right next door, and if I don’t have a car, you’re welcome to borrow mine to make the most of your adventures.

I didn't get the chance to work for Kurt, but I reached out as I'm staying elsewhere in Barossa Valley. Kurt was super accommodating of me visiting the farm, helping with the sheep, and he has been inviting me for social events, which I really appreciate given I don't know many people here.
