  I am a single mum with shared custody of a fun and engaging 13 year old daughter, plus a little dog, looking for someone (or a couple) who can join us from the start of December and stay until the end of January.
  
  The thing we mostly need from you is to ensure that Abigail has a fun summer in the times she is with me, as well as undertaking the domestic tasks (dishes, cleaning etc) that keep a home running smoothly, plus getting into our fairly large garden. We offer the added bonus of a very loving and gentle dog, Bobbie, who most of our helpers enjoy spending time with. We don't always share meals (since you have your own flat), even if you don't choose to eat together you may enjoy sharing an occasional glass of wine (with me!) in the evening :-)
  
  Abigail is creative and fun, with a wide variety of interests and a zany sense of humour... she is very easy to spend time with :-) We enjoy our international helpers and have created many firm friendships.
  
  As noted above, the day-to-day tasks are general housework and gardening. Because December/January are the school holiday months you will also get to spend more time with her while I'm at work, and that may mean going out and doing stuff together, so a full license is required. Because it's summer, we'll also hopefully have a few good veggies in the garden, so the garden will take up some of your time. And on occasion my elderly mum needs assistance with grocery shopping or a little home help. She's a fun lady who provides vibrant and lively conversation.
  
  I run an e-commerce business based in central Wellington, and as a self-employed person I really appreciate having another adult to keep the home and garden running smoothly. Our dog, Bobbie, is gentle and easy, but she loves attention and walks so you must be ok with dogs :-) 
  
  You will be very comfortably housed in your own separate flat (apartment) that is on the ground floor of our 2-storey home. The flat has 2 bedrooms, so in addition to your large double room you share the common spaces (kitchen, bathroom, lounge) with the person who rents the second bedroom. We have a sun-filled lawn and garden that is enjoyed by us all.
  
  The room is a spacious double room with a queen-sized bed and will easily accommodate a single person or a couple. For a couple one person usually does the Workaway, while the other has a job outside the home. Previous Helpers who have been digital nomads have found it a very suitable set-up.
  
  Kilbirnie has a vibrant shopping centre just a few minutes' walk from our house, with a variety of shops including 2 supermarkets and CommonSense Organics.  We are close to the Beach, the swimming pool, the Mt Victoria walkways and only a 15 minute bus ride into Wellington centre.

  We have been doing this for several years, so are experienced Workaway hosts. We have enjoyed spending time with all of the helpers who have stayed with us and have developed firm friendships with many of them.
  
  You will enjoy a comfortable home close to many amenities (city, beach, mountain biking etc). You will have opportunities to do your own exploring of Wellington all it has to offer. For a couple, we find usually one person does the Workaway and the other often works in another job. You will also be welcome to join us to experience "real life" occasions in a Kiwi home.

  The work is approximately 3 hours a day in exchange for a very comfortable, spacious room in a 2-bedroom flat that is separate from my house.

  Your accommodation is a large double room in a fully furnished, 2 bed-roomed flat/apartment that is separate from my house, so you live independently from us.
  
  The apartment has a kitchen, lounge and bathroom that you will share with the occupant/s of the second bedroom. We all share a very sunny garden.

  Our home is in Kilbirnie. It's about a 3 minute walk to the local shopping centre (including 2 supermarkets, Post Office, bus stop etc), and a 10-15 minute bus ride into Wellington City. The beach is 1.5km away; the best surfing beach in Wellington! Some lovely walking tracks are only a few hundred meters up the road. There is heaps to do and we are happy to chat about ideas.
  Wellington is an amazing, little city with lots to offer. With hilly bushwalks, rugged coastline and beaches all fringing a vibrant city full of restaurants, art and theatres, and bustling with activities, there is lots to enjoy. Plus, it's the gateway to both the North and South Islands, for your own adventures!

  Our little dog is a miniature schnauzer-bichon frise mix, and we usually have to search peoples bags to ensure they don’t steal her when they go!
