I visited Aline and Jean in the summer of 2021 - I enjoyed it very very much! Although my French is nowhere near good, I was able to communicate with the both of them effectively, and expanded my vocabulary. There were no hitches in my pickup, drop off, or accommodation. The work was very reasonable each day, I mainly cleaned stalls and helped
… read more with feed because of my limited skills, so if you feel you have some but not a lot of farm or manual labor experience, fear not, they can accommodate for you! Tabea is a very endearing young girl, very discreet, very serious and very respectful. Always willing to learn new things. She was very caring with the animals and proved to be an excellent horsewoman. As my first Workaway experience, I stayed at Jean and Aline's for 10 weeks. And I think, it was the best first Workaway experience I could have had.
They are both very warm hearted and made it easy to feel comfortable. Also, the dogs, cats and all other animals made me feel very comfotable. They are all very nice and always thankful for a cuddle.
… read more We had nice and interesting talks, for example while enjoying Aline's delicous meals. Like this, I improved speaking French. They were always very helpful and patient while I was looking for words. So, also for French learners, I can recommend this place.
Most of the work time, I took care of the horses who really are calm and nice! Jean has a lot of interesting things to teach you about horse care. But except for horse care, there are also other things to do on the farm: painting, gardening, sanding...
On my free days, I got to see the beautiful region 'Landes'. I saw nice little villages, the ocean, the mountains 'Les Pyrénées', Bordeaux, Pau... Aline and Jean had always recommandations where to go and what to see. They were very supportive.

I had a wonderful time staying with Aline and Jean. they are incredibly welcoming and generous. The works not too demanding, and they will always explain it to you. They made me feel right at home, and were so kind and encouraging despite my bad french. The food is always excellent, and dinners are so fun!
