    Updated Spring/Summer programme for 2026

OUR HOSTING SCHEDULE : In order to get a group dynamic together, (rather than individual guests) we now host on the 1st of each month and the 15th of each month. If you cannot make those dates we allow some flexibility, so you can arrive a few days either side of the 1st or the 15th of the month.

OUR INITIAL PROJECTS TO START THE SUMMER SEASON :
We need help with a giant spring-clean for our garden and house:
Tasks include 6-7 trips to the tip, replacing old matresses with new and getting rid of accumulated junk/ Cutting back plants and planting new fruit trees/ A total makeover for our workawayer kitchen which has not been used for 6 months and looks very neglected. It's your own private workawayers kitchen, so it's for your benefit to get it and keep it clean and tidy.

A general spring-clean for of the workawayers accommodation to bring it up to scratch.

The garden is large, (one hectare) but the entrance to it is very messy at the moment as we have the contents of our old house stored there. It looks like a building site, but there are are many lovely areas to sit and relax where the mess cannot be seen.

We ask for 4 hours help / 5 days a week.
You will have your own kitchen and cooker to prepare your meals.
It can be hard here in winter, but we offer you our wooden chalet which catches the sun from 10:00 until 15:00 if it's a sunny day. We have an electric blanket and a small fan heater which should make it bearable for evening/night time. Unfortunately our house is tiny so you will have to be independent : cooking your own meals and doing your own thing in the evening.
We are looking ideally couples or friends, (more than one traveller) so you will not feel lonely.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.

We are also looking for :
    Computer help.
Gardening experts to create a veggie garden.

PLEASE NOTE : ***CAREFUL PLANNING IS ESSENTIAL FOR BOTH HOSTS AND WORKAWAYERS !!!, so when you write to us with your start date please commit yourself to that date and to us as hosts. We have had a high rate of workawayers who have agreed to join us with dates and then announced at the last moment that they have found an alternative host. This is not fair and makes it impossible to plan ahead. Of course, if you join us and decide after one week you would like to leave that is fine with us. We have 3 accommodations available for reservation on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hopefully we will manage to fill the accommodations, so you may be part of a team of 3 people...but sometimes that just isn't possible, so you may be on your own !

About us, the hosts...and our location.
We are two open minded mature guys, (67 and 75).
The Verdon National Park is one hours drive away. The spectacular Gorge itself is further away. There is so much to see and do there, (including many different sport activities) so we suggest you allow 4 - 5 days after your workaway stay and head out there to experience this stunning landscape.
Closer to home, just 12 km away is the lovely Gorge du Pennafort, (see photo's shown on our profile).
We describe ourselves as intelligent, outgoing and down to earth.
We do not have a problem regarding race/skin colour or sexual orientation.

We ask for 4 hours help per day/ 5 days per week in exchange for your own private accommodation, plus basic food and non-alcoholic drinks. If you want to buy alcohol, you can visit nearby Callas and buy it there, we do not provide it. We have had very bad experiences with workawayers and alcohol abuse, (if this occurs you will be asked to leave immediately). After completing your 5 days you have 2 free days to relax and explore.

The accommodations are basic, (similar to glamping) but you will have a proper mattress to sleep on and the majority have electricity. One accomodation is a vintage caravan. Another a unique clip-car style caravan. We also have the sugar-cube stone hut, (which is like those mini cube houses on greek islands) and we have a wooden chalet for couples on the 5th terrace which has a nice view looking down onto the garden. They all get very hot during the day, but we have sun beds and hammocks which you can place in the shade for an afternoon nap.

You are responsible for preparing your meals and doing the washing up. Please note : As you are working 4 hours per day, (most hosts ask for 5 or 5.5 hours) the time for preparing meals and washing up is not part of the 4 hours.

We provide you with clean towels, bed-linen and have a large variety of work-clothes for you to wear + shower gel and shampoo...so you can travel light !
We do not provide mosquito repellent spray or sun protection so make sure you bring it with you !

Internet access is limited, (through our airbox). Please ensure you have plenty of mobile data !!!

To join us you need to find your way to Les Arcs/Draguignan railway station or the town of Le Muy. We will collect you from there. Alternatively, it is fairly easy and safe to hitch-hike in this region so you should have no problem hitch-hiking to Callas if you carry a cardboard sign with you.

We are easy going, but...if you are any of the following you will definitely not fit in here :

    * Overly religious. * If you have a problem with mosquitos and bugs, or rodents, (all provence houses in the countryside have them and they even come into the kitchen area and shit too !...it's nature and you have to deal with it...)
    * If you have a problem with food that is approaching or has reached its use-by date. We are eco-friendly and green and hate the wastage of food within the food/supermarket industry, so we always buy food that is close to its use-by date.
    * If you have a problem with wild boar, (they do come into the garden, but they are shy and not aggressive).

We are trying to filter out workawayers expecting a 4 star hotel. We are a simple, very basic country house. We hope you understand the situation and are willing to help us.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have further questions.

It's your responsibility to have medical travel insurance.

We hope to welcome you soon !!!

    Jurgen and David.

We can help you improve your german, english and french language skills.
We are both old age pensioners and can offer you an insight as to how things were pre-internet. Also, a guide to the music scene from the 60's and 70's and how life was generally back then.
In exchange you can help us with all things internet and the latest trends for young people.
Our concept of a workawayers village is a project in progress. It is an area for workawayers to hang out together, cook nice meals, engage in sport, play board games and chill to music together.
We have also introduced a small library of books for you to borrow, including books about local nature, cuisine and guide books - as well as a selection of fictional books.
We have 2 spanish guitars which you are welcome to use and we are very happy to teach you some of the basic chords.
I think if you read our feedback history it will give you an idea about us as hosts and our social competence regarding our workaway guests.
