  Hej hej! My name is Beatrice, I'm 28 years old, and I live in Kiruna.
  
  Here's a little introduction to me and my family!
  
  I moved to Swedish Lapland less than two years ago, and I'm currently living in Kiruna, about 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. Kiruna is a very unique city, so I encourage you to do a little research before deciding to come here!
  
  I live with my 7-year-old cat, Mew Mew, and the newest member of our family, Sky, a 3-year-old male dog.
  
  I work as a chef in a Sámi restaurant in a nearby village, and in my free time, I love spending time with Mew Mew and Sky. I also love travelling to other cold places, exploring the mountains, reading fantasy books, and crocheting.
  
  I live a simple life up here and try to stay active, even during the completely dark winter months. This time of year can be challenging, as the darkness and cold can really drain your energy. As a tourist, everything feels new and fascinating, but if you're planning to stay here for a while, especially during winter, make sure you gather all the information you need about this place!
  
  I don't have a maximum length of stay in mind, just a minimum, so there's no need to rush your plans. I want you to have a realistic idea of what life here is like before you decide to come.
  
  This winter, I'd love to start an ice climbing course, so fingers crossed that my busy work schedule will allow me to make it happen!
  
  I moved here in March 2025, and for now, I've found my home in this remote northern town.

  I live in a very special city, about 200 km north of the Arctic Circle! Kiruna is famous for its iron ore mine, which you can even visit.
  
  At night, usually between 1:15/18 a.m., you might feel the house shaking because of controlled mining-induced tremors. Don't worry, it's a normal part of life here!
  
  Kiruna has everything you need: supermarkets, bars, gyms, swimming pools, and much more.
  
  One of the best things about my home is that, if the sky is clear, you can sometimes see the beautiful Northern Lights right from my balcony or behind the building! 🌌
  
  My house is about 6 km from the new city centre, which means there's less light pollution and, hopefully, better chances of enjoying the Aurora Borealis.

  I'm looking for someone who genuinely loves animals and wants to spend time with them. My cat and dog mean the world to me, and I only want the very best for them.
  
  Anyone who has pets will understand how important they are. I'm looking for someone to stay at my home and take care of my cat and dog while I'm away on a short holiday or working seven days in a row.
  
  🐱 Mew Mew, the princess of the house
  
  Mew Mew is quite introverted. She spends most of her time sleeping, eating, and playing on her own. When meeting new people, she might need some time to feel completely comfortable around them.
  
  However, after a couple of days, she'll start to feel at ease with you. That's one of the reasons why I require a minimum stay of two weeks!
  
  Mew Mew needs to be fed three times a day, but I'll take care of her morning and evening meals, so you'll only need to prepare her lunch. Don't worry, I'll prepare everything in advance, and her food will be ready and portioned.
  
  You'll also need to:
  
  Change her water regularly.
  Clean her litter box every time she poops.
  Spend some quality time with her during the day.
  Make sure she gets some exercise and playtime to keep her entertained and prevent boredom.
  As I mentioned, Mew Mew can be quite introverted at first, but once she gets to know you, she'll be meowing all the time for attention, cuddles, snacks, and a little chat!
  
  She's a sleepy cat and generally doesn't require too much attention, but I've never been away from her for such a long time before, and I want to make sure she feels happy, safe, and loved while I'm gone.
  
  🐶 Sky, the baby of the house
  Sky is the newest member of our family. I adopted him in Italy, and he has a very sad and difficult past. I'm doing my best to give him the happy life he deserves.
  
  Taking care of Sky is a little different from looking after Mew Mew. Since I can be away at work for around 12 hours a day, he needs someone to take him outside a couple of times a day while I'm away. I usually walk him in the morning and again in the evening.
  
  Of course, he needs walks, outdoor time, and a little more exercise and playtime than a cat!
  
  You won't need to feed Sky or give him his medication, as I'll take care of both his morning and evening meals, including his medication.
  
  The most important thing is that he gets enough time outside, some exercise, and plenty of company while I'm away.
  
  🏡 A little housekeeping
  Since the minimum stay is around two weeks, I'd really appreciate some basic housekeeping to help keep the house clean and tidy.
  
  I'm not expecting you to clean the entire house, so don't worry! However, Mew Mew sheds quite a lot of hair, and Sky can be a little messier than a cat, so I'd appreciate it if you could:
  
  Vacuum the floors regularly.
  Wash the dishes (I have a dishwasher, so it's easy!).
  Keep the bathroom clean and tidy.
  That's all! I'm simply looking for someone who will treat my home with respect and, most importantly, take good care of my two little ones while I'm away.

  I'm open to language exchanges! I work and go about my daily life in English, so I'd say I'm pretty comfortable with it. I'm still a beginner in Swedish and working on improving it. I’ve also started learning Russian on my own, and it would be amazing to meet someone who speaks the language and could give me some tips and advice along the way

  🏡 Your room and the house
  A private room is available, with a large window, a desk, and plenty of storage space.
  
  Since I won't be home during your stay, you'll have access to all the shared spaces except for my bedroom, which I'd like to keep private.
  
  Mew Mew usually sleeps on my bed or in the wardrobe. Like any good cat, she has her favourite spots! However, I'd really appreciate it if you didn't use my bedroom and left it as Mew's own little space while I'm away.
  
  There are security cameras in the living room, kitchen, and my bedroom. They don't record footage; they simply track the pets' movements and send me notifications when there's activity. Since I work long hours away from home, I sometimes like to check in and see what Mew and Sky are up to!
  
  🚿 Bathroom, kitchen and laundry
  There's a bathroom with a shower. Unfortunately, the bathtub is broken, but the shower works perfectly fine, so you can use it as you normally would.
  
  The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils and appliances you might need, as well as a refrigerator. I actually have two fridges, and one will be entirely at your disposal, so you'll have plenty of space for your food.
  
  There's also a washing machine in the building opposite mine (that's how laundry facilities sometimes work up here in Lapland!). You can use it with a special access badge. I'll provide the badge, laundry detergent, and everything else you need, and I'll explain how it works before I leave.
  
  ❄️ Life in Lapland during winter
  Winters here can be very cold, but don't worry too much! Buses, shops, and other indoor spaces are heated and generally comfortable.
  
  If you decide to accept this position, I'll be happy to explain how things work here and give you some useful tips for dealing with the cold. And, if we're a similar size, I might even be able to lend you a good winter coat and some heavy-duty boots if you're planning to head outside to see the Northern Lights! 🌌
  
  🍝 Food and meals
  During the weeks when I'm working seven days in a row, we'll probably only see each other in the mornings and evenings. I'll be spending most of my time at work, so the kitchen and the fridge will be at your disposal. Feel free to cook and eat whatever you like!
  Please remember to tidy up and either wash the dishes or start the dishwasher.
  
  I'm not a picky eater, so I can usually accommodate different preferences. However, if you follow a special diet or have any food allergies, please let me know in advance so we can figure out the best solution together.
  
  Workaway asks hosts to provide three meals a day. Since I'll be eating at work during my seven-day shifts, I'll make sure you have food available at home. If you notice that anything is running low or has run out, just let me know so we can arrange to replace it.

  Free and unlimited Wi-Fi is available in the house, so if you work remotely, you won't have any problems. There's also a TV (in Swedish, of course), but you can connect to the internet and stream whatever you'd like. Please note that smoking is not allowed, alcohol consumption inside the house is not permitted, and no outside guests are allowed.
