We are a family of 6, but currently only 2 of us living here at home, Gestur (60) and Jóna (61).
This is a dairy farm (with a robotic milker) , located in the north west and is about 50 km from Sauðárkrókur. We have three very friendly shepherd dogs. Our farm is mostly based on the dairy farm which has around 60 milking cows but we also have 200 sheep that need tending, specially in the spring during lamb season.

We offer free accommodation and pay minimum wage (Icelandic union contract) for every hour worked.

Staying here in the north is a very peaceful experience, lot of nature and interesting arctic conditions. Great auroras in the winter time and snow guaranteed! For most people a very special experience.

We need someone who can help us around the farm. Milking, feeding and take care of the sheep. We go two times a day to milk and feed the cows, 7 am. and around 5 pm. We have a robot who takes care of the milking and also a robot for feeding the calves milk.
We also need help with the typical summer tasks, like hey making and repairing fences.
We need a help in May-June in particular because of lamb season. Summer is much more busy than wintertime.we offer a minimum wage for each hour worked

We live in a house with 6 bedrooms but there is another house for our workers. Each worker gets a private bedroom and shares the facilities.

The north of Iceland is a beautiful place and there is a lot to see. There are a lot of museums, Akureyri is about 170 km away and the most famous swimming pool in Iceland is about 15 km from the farm.

I stayed with Gestur and Jona for 10 weeks this summer. They are very friendly, welcoming and generous hosts.
They are very patient with teaching the tasks you are assigned with, i loved the work with the cows and sheep.

This summer I spent 3 months at this farm. I loved being there! The surrounding landscape is very beautiful. I liked the work. In example some tasks were feeding the young cows, herding the cows, repairing fences, heying, fixing a roof, painting walls… And I was there when they took the sheep from the mountains which was interesting.

We spent 2.5 great weeks with Gestur and Jona on the farm. Feeding the bulls, working with cows, friendly and patient Gestur and Jona who replaced our parents for a while, together with ubiquitous playful dogs and beautiful surroundings made our trip unforgettable, with the only imperfection of being too short :)

I was only able to stay for about two weeks at this incredible farm, and I wish I would have stayed longer! Jónína and Gestur are amazing hosts, and very hospitable! I had a great experience learning so many different things on the farm, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else!
