I am an avid traveler and am lucky enough to have made so many friends all over the world, either in hostels or simple exchanges with strangers that led to long lasting friendships. Meeting new people, learning their stories, discovering more about different cultures and gaining a deeper appreciation for our natural world are what drive me to continue traveling and growing as a person. When I’m at home, my greatest pleasure is spending time with my rescue pit-bull, who brings. Music and dancing are also big parts of my life, as is yoga, spending time outdoors (especially in the ocean), running, having good food and drinks with friends, and continuing to advance my career in sustainability. I have also been learning Italian for the last 9 months and it brings me so much joy to now be able to have small conversations in Italian!

I am very interesting in furthering my Italian language learning. I would also be keen to revisit French, which I studied in both high school and university but have not practiced recently. I would also be interested in teaching English as a second language given I am considerably skilled in reading/writing.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I grew up working in the hospitality industry: 5 years in a family-style restaurant, 3 years in hotel operations (including an eco-lodge) and 2 years in hospitality consulting. The last 6 years of my career has been in sustainability consulting, specifically in real estate and waste management. I have an undergraduate degree in hospitality management, a master’s in hotel real estate & finance, and certifications in sustainable finance and sustainable real estate.
Much of my career has required a significant amount of traveling and/or interacting with people from all over the world and varying professions/trades. This experience working alongside multicultural groups first began when I studied abroad in Tianjin, China. I also lived in Grenada, West Indies for 2 years where I worked at the local university with medical students from numerous nationalities, and volunteered at the Windward Islands Research & Education Foundation, the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), and the Queen Elizabeth Home for Children. During my time in Grenada I also received my 200-hour yoga teacher certification and have taught in the Caribbean and US. I also have extensive experience as a dog-walker and domestic animal caretaker (in addition to taking care of my own rescue dog and occasionally fostering). I currently serve as Treasurer for an alumni organization, where I was previously the Event Chair and Social Media Chair.
I love doing hands on work, whether it is caring for animals, attending to guests in a hotel/guesthouse setting, conducting a waste audit (otherwise known as dumpster diving!) or putting together digital communications and organizing Excel sheets. I am a native English speaker, fluent in Spanish (Latin background) and currently studying Italian for the last year. I have been solo-traveling for over a decade which has helped shaped me into who I am today: highly self-sufficient, open-minded, social, decisive under pressure, incredibly flexible, and a budding polyglot!

I have been part of a number of Cuban salsa clubs and really enjoy teaching this beautiful dance style. I also love bachata, merengue, reggaeton, country line dancing, hip hop and ballet. I live somewhat between Miami and New York and spend my days dancing and eating my way through both of these remarkable cities. On weekends I try to catch a good jazz band performance or stand-up comedy shows. When I need to slow down I love to sit with a good book and an even better cup of coffee (Cuban, preferably). To find a good balance between adventure and quiet time in nature, I jump at any opportunity to go on a hike or swimming in the ocean.
